- 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe Restoration Project
In addition to owning the Barris-built Ala Kart, John Mumford recently brought the Sam Barris '49 to the Roy Brizio Street Rods shop for a complete restoration. Arguably the first Mercury ever chopped, Roy Brizio Street Rods replaced every nut and bolt on the chassis with original stock components before Roy Brizio Street Rods sent the body to Darryl Hollenbeck for the metallic green paint. Look for the feature in the Rodders Journal #38, and if you're in the Los Angeles area, the Merc might still be on display in the NHRA museum.
