I remember as a kid, in the back back of the station wagon late at night on rt 89 in the mountains of Vermont. I was watching the headlights of the cars behind us, slowly overtaking us. I must have been 8 or 9 years old. My father, a car nut, was at the wheel and I saw him focus on his side rear view mirror and all he says “oh kid, watch this one comin up.” My dad could tell just by the headlights something special was about to happen. We’re going maybe 60mph, that old country squire wagon pushing up a steeper grade in the mountains. Just then a slammed 50 Merc, hugging the road, just burbles with ease up that steep grade. He passed us with the most glorious exhaust note I can still hear. We could see out our windshield the faint red glow of his taillights and the little purple inset in each one. I listened to the fading rumble as the driver of that old Merc presumably successfully climbed towards a heaven in those mountains Ive been trying to find in my own interest in cars ever since.
When I think of custom cars this is what comes to mind. A 49 or a 50 Merc that's had all of the custom rod stuff done to it. Beautiful. Perfect color too.
A 350? Are you kidding me, the car is a tank. You want as much horsepower as you can get. Because you’re gonna be wanting to smoke those tires, and blowing those rice rockets off the road! I’ve got 500 horse tire in mine with a five speed manual. Oh yeah. Lol😂😂😂
Before this, there was one with a Viper V10 that stole my heart... But this, this is a work of art. The color, the loads of work that went into it, insane attention to detail, everything is just perfect
Very few people can execute a chop like that professionally...one is Bello's Kustoms that I found...I am still not sure how a sectioning looks in the process... ruclips.net/video/ygypf5C5nNA/видео.html
I’m 57 years old and I’ve been a fan of lead sleds since I was a teenager. This one is spectacular! My idea of what a lead sled should be. I want two, one with a modern drivetrain and another with a supercharged flat head Ford V-8.
With the quality of your show I'd really love to see more traditional cars, and since you are in the US capital of this kind of cars I'm sure you'd have no problems finding them. This is a really nice example anyway, a real treat 👍🏻🖤🏴☠️
49-51 Merc’s were epitome of custom lead sleds, it is the car that I always gravitate to at car shows, I have to say it’s my all time favorite cruise car, because it doesn’t need tons of horsepower or a raucous exhaust note, it’s all about the attitude and moving slow ! I love the drum barrel wrap, I seriously considered using it instead of carbon fiber sheets on my interior, lead sleds definitely need drum barrel wrap! Beautiful workmanship and fit and finish, really well done!
This is drop dead gorgeous ! I’d be so afraid of anyone getting too close to that sweetheart of a lead sled. Man what a insanely nice job on it. Rollin !
Guys are spending $250,000 to make to take a trip outside the stratosphere I paid $250,000 so riding that car and congratulate that guy for making the most beautiful the most astronomically most beautiful car I've ever seen
You want to take a ride with The Pharoah's 😂. Absolutely amazing car and takes me right back to American Graffiti . I would be super proud to own that Sled 👌
what my dream car Shawn is a Cobra movie car with a 429 Boss motor same color. I love that movie car with that Battleship Gray. of course my all-time favorite would be a 1969 Hemi Roadrunner. this car that's being showcased in the video would be my second choice. but with my modifications that would like. as always stay gold!
When he says "you can't park it anywhere". Does that have anything to do with the turning radius or is it just because it's such a stunning car? Can't imagine it even sitting next to a modern vehicle. Beautiful car.
Love these sleds. Beautiful build. My blood pressure would be through the roof I had to stage this in a parking lot or other busy area for what matter.
Love these old Mercs, especially the lead sleds, Incredible craftsmanship on this car. Would have been nice to see an updated FoMoCo driveline in it to maintain the trueness of the car. Be safe and stay well.
Just amazing. Everyone comes together on a car like this no matter what you like. Just an incredible build. Be afraid to let it out of my sight though 🤣
Gorgeous vehicle and built, wow! Nice tune Shawn! (Mean Street Blues by Matt Large) Beautiful shirt of this old cat, reminds me of the O’Neil style back in the day like a paradise bird… What about having side pipes hidden discretely, or?! What a beautiful scenery as always... I would like to add something here. Before I found your Vlog, I was watching Jay Leno's Vlog which was ok. The difference about it is that you have a such a passion for the automobile world in depth. You know how to transmit it to the audience in a such nature way that making us being part of it, although we are miles and miles away. Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge with us, I really appreciated it! Please remember: "Life is too short to drive an ordinary car" 😉
I'm speechless I'm a tubbed out Nova 2nd Gen Camaro 72 Chevelle kind of guy that's all done up right this is got me speechless this is absolutely a priceless ride I'm speechless I'm f****** speechless
I love the chopped roof look but at 6'9" I always thought I wouldn't fit in someting like that. But this one, with the lowered seats moved way back, I might actually be quite comfortable. Absolutely smashing job!
It screams 50's gangsta style and Lead Sled was what I remember the old motorheads calling those big heavy cars. Heavy Chevy was another one but nothing beats this chopped Mercury. Machine-Gun Kelly, Baby Face Nelson, Capone, Cagney, Bogart, Zero Mostel, etc would be proud to see this bad boy put to work.
Haha, almost all those guys died before this generation of car would have even been built. Not being an ass, just think it's funny. Definitely looks pretty mobster though, you got that right!
I've seen a lot of cars and I'll have to say that this 50 Merc is probably one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Wow, it's just stunning.

The Olde Led Sled look. Unbelievable color.👍👍
When I think of custom cars this is what comes to mind. A 49 or a 50 Merc that's had all of the custom rod stuff done to it. Beautiful. Perfect color too.
This car is such a beautiful work of art
Don’t forget the 51 which is my opinion is the best of the three.
A 350? Are you kidding me, the car is a tank. You want as much horsepower as you can get. Because you’re gonna be wanting to smoke those tires, and blowing those rice rockets off the road! I’ve got 500 horse tire in mine with a five speed manual. Oh yeah. Lol😂😂😂
I have never seen another Merc... make me stop in awe.......here you have 1 of a kind.......stunning.....such a work of art!
Gotta have more Kustoms! Stands out in the sea of muscle cars. This Merc is badass.
Paint still looks wet. Work of art. Thanks

The most seriously badass body style on the planet. Never, you can't, there's nothing, nothing close.
It really is art on wheels
Simply amazing !
Man, I love this Merc'! It's all attitude. And did he say his club is 70 yrs old? Amazing!
Before this, there was one with a Viper V10 that stole my heart... But this, this is a work of art. The color, the loads of work that went into it, insane attention to detail, everything is just perfect
Can’t imagine this with a V10! The craft on this is exceptional
Very few people can execute a chop like that professionally...one is Bello's Kustoms that I found...I am still not sure how a sectioning looks in the process...

Beautiful car, great job
It is a work of rolling art
I’m 57 years old and I’ve been a fan of lead sleds since I was a teenager. This one is spectacular! My idea of what a lead sled should be. I want two, one with a modern drivetrain and another with a supercharged flat head Ford V-8.
My dream ride since I started learning about cars. That's the cleanest I've seen in a while.
One of my dream cars too
This car is superb and could be used in James Bond film series nice video
What a great looking car.
Really beautiful work on this one
What an AMAZING built an Chopped Sled... An the color , the details. French's headlamps, tuck'd bumper's.. Every Man's Dream Cruiser.. 👏👏💯🙌🙌
Absolutely a work of art. A lead sled back in the day was just body filled with lead instead of bondo.
Yea! 😎. That’s a really nice car!
Work of art right here
Lead sled style. Cool 50s custom perfection. Very nice. Like that color.😎👍🤑🤩
Very cool Merc!!!! 👍👍👍
This is hands down the best Mercury I’ve ever seen, stunning color. Well done with the video
2:00 How do you order a custom Windshield? Do you bring the car into a glass making business? Would like to see how that's done. Estimated cost?
Absolutely beautiful … always loved this look … it’s a street cruiser…diggn it.
With the quality of your show I'd really love to see more traditional cars, and since you are in the US capital of this kind of cars I'm sure you'd have no problems finding them. This is a really nice example anyway, a real treat 👍🏻🖤🏴☠️
Thanks. We like to show modified and full custom builds for the most part

The 50 Mercury custom is one of my favourite cars. Great showcase on this one
Really nice car bro

Gorgeous rolling sculpture. I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of time, money, and work to just cut out 2 inches of width. So tastefully done.

Guys are spending $250,000 to make to take a trip outside the stratosphere I paid $250,000 so riding that car and congratulate that guy for making the most beautiful the most astronomically most beautiful car I've ever seen
That is old school custom at its finest. Absolutely beautiful build!! They don’t make them like they used to anymore… Great video!
Rare to see this done anymore especially this quality
Sweet car. Anytime I see a Lead Sled, I feel the need to go rewatch Cobra.
This Mercury is The perfect Lead Sled I love It!
Absolutely gorgeous car. One of my favorites you have featured!
One of my favorites too. Stunning work
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!
That's amazing, the body has been sectioned 2", chopped 4", how hard that must be to make look flawless!
So much metal work on this ride
This one is epic. .. a real credit. To the guys who worked and built this up
Craftsmen of another time
This ride is super sexy you can hardly see the door lines and that sleek sleek design is mean!!

It turns no problem just concern for a door ding or other potential damages
Beautiful car! Love all the little details and paint and interior are top notch.
Everything on here is done right. Class build
I don't think my 2004 lincoln towncar will evolve to a one off custom like this while I'm still on this earth. Thanks for sharing.
Merc lead sleds are the most gangster car ever. Change my mind.
Love these sleds. Beautiful build.
My blood pressure would be through the roof I had to stage this in a parking lot or other busy area for what matter.

Absolutely amazing car, love it 😍
Same for me. Beautiful work and styling is flawless
It's hard to bead the look of a chopped 49 or 50 Merc. It's just about perfect.
This is over the top master piece..shhhh
