First Wash in 26 Years: Free Abandoned Car Donated to a Subscriber! Disgusting Mercury Montclair

- This is a 1966 Mercury Montclair that's been abandoned in a barn for 26 years. The Mercury has a great story and was owned by Emmy Award Winning Screenwriter John Vlahos. A kind viewer of the channel recently bought the property and asked me to save the Mercury from the crusher. The collection of acorns in the barn was a sign of what's to come as I found the largest mouse nest I've ever seen during the detail. One of the most challenging and intensive clean-ups for sure but all worth it to donate the Mercury to a generous subscriber. The big reveal at the end was amazing and was very special to save this vehicle. Enjoy the episode and thanks for all the support! - L

What a humble human being. That man most definitely deserved that vehicle.
He is from Serbia
ث@
Such a lovely chap
lol I read "horrible human being" and I got really confused
@@dnmotorsport i think he is from Macedonia, i am not sure , but pavle and ljupka are very in common names in macedonia.
You are just one of the nicest guys ever Larry and you managed to find an equally nice man to give that car to. Your passion is infectious and it is a true joy to watch these videos. Thank you for sharing!
Yes, I second that. I liked the part when you did the wax “just for me”. That was really nicely candid.
The guy he gave her to is the kindest gentleman I’ve ever seen. What a worthy heir to that vehicle!
You are an extremely hard-working individual. Don't see much of that in 2022. 66-year-old woman here really enjoyed learning about what you do. Don't think I'll ever do any of it, but I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for posting.
Larry, your love of cars comes shining through in this episode.
Appreciate that, another one saved :)
@@AMMO-NYC This is heartwarming. Keep up the great work! Best wishes from Belgium.
Typing through tears. In the mid 80's 3 years of high school radio and TV production and in college at my broadcasting program we read and watched John's work. I loved it. I've published 2 sci-fi and romance novels because of inspiration from him and others. Thank you... you had as much fun doing this as I did watching.
Bless your soul brother. You not only saved a piece of history but you also gave it a new home for free, with a donation to boot. This vid made my day.
Ed from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Pavle brought the heads and Intake to my shop Rockville Ring & Bearing and we completely rebuilt them for him. Such a nice and generous guy to deal with. Glad we were a part of this process
Thank you, Doug, so much! You finished everything in less than two weeks. I appreciate everything! So professional Ring & Bearing is the best place in DMV.
Hope his descendants see this, will definitely put a smile on their face. He was a talented man and a source of pride for the Greek community in the United States (which his parents were a part of). Really enjoyed this one Larry, thanks. Never change.
Always very proud of our Greek brothers abroad
I'm so jealous of the guy who got it, but also know I'd never be able to keep an 8 cyl land yacht like that on the road with these gas prices. That, plus the donation, I'm very happy to see it go to a really awesome home, and I hope we get more updates... down the road.
Saving such cool cars as part of they history is not just satisfactory to watch and for him as well but it will well worth for future generations to see such cars not just in pics but also up-closer maybe even running when pretty soon we all going to drive full electrics so much cool to see an old Bessy - V8 land-yacht like these resurrected & saved from crusher.. +All got happy ending even the green extraterrestrial balloon found a new home.. ;0)
Could convert it to run on LPG…
Looks like new owner will be capable. Donation plus showed up in a Cayenne with a truck to tow the car with ... Yeah. Better than some guy towing it away on a U-Haul trailer with his 20 year old pickup truck.
I've got a '77 Thunderbird with a 400. I just drive it from time to time so gas prices don't matter much. Plus you can find one in good shape for about $2k
@@Jonathan_Doe_ but then it needs new papers with that LPG modification re-tested and re- hommologated again because LPG mod will change the factory car specs from the car papers, otherwise if police will get you with such a car that has different conversions mods the ticket is very big + it will retain the car certificate and may also suspend your driving license ..
As a 61 year old man who appreciates older cars but don't have one I find this is so cool what you did...love the couple that you donated it to also, so so cool...love how you brought this car back to life, it was such a beautiful thing to watch you clean this and detail it, I really learned a lot..thank you for the vid.
So beautiful I would feel like the luckiest guy ever to get something like that
As a writer and historic car buff, I can greatly appreciate all of your hard work, Larry! Good job all around!
Very informative, everything is competently a person has golden hands
That was truly a beautiful car and I am glad that you were able to save it from the crusher. Also, the financial donation to ASAP was the icing on the cake. Thank you for your kindness and generosity to your community.

6:08 The reason you test your pressure washer nozzle on the ground first rather than the car is because if the nozzle does launch free like a harpoon then it just bounces off the ground rather than denting your car. You don't want to damage the thing you are trying to clean.
Plot twist it’s now on BAT with a 50k reserve 🤣 In all seriousness one of my favorite detail videos yet! Congratulations to the new owner!
You are the man. What a find, moderate restoration and very happy ending to a car that would have otherwise been scrap metal. Congrats.
Every Ammo episode is great, but this is my favourite. The little vignette about the screenwriter Vlahos was fascinating. The car is amazing. The work you did is phenomenal. The couple who took it away were so sweet. And best of all, the benefit to the kids art charity. Thanks Mr Kosillas, you are pretty special. 🙂
Thank You for saving her from the crusher. Continued use is always better than 'recycling '. I'm so glad the motor freed up, enjoy that beautiful car !
Gotta be honest: started to get teary eyed as this beauty started to shine. By the end, it was a definite lump in my throat and tears! SUPERB!!! 🥰
Not only does watching these feel incredibly satisfying, but I'm definitely using the tips you give to help me maintain my car's 35 year old paint. Did a full 2 step the other day and it came out as good as it could have!
Kudos to you and your team for saving that beautiful old land yacht from the crusher. Mega kudos to the new owner for being old school - meaning ‘very appreciative’ - and showing how to be a gracious receiver of kindness. We could all take a lesson from this video. Keep ‘em shining and on the road.
It is so nice to see old cars being saved & restored, & that charity you mentioned sounds like a really good idea, like the saying says ' what goes around, comes around ', well done.
One of the best channels, inspiring millions of young people. Beautiful car.
Would love to see a flow up on the car later.
Damn, this one gave me chills up and down my arms! I've been a subscriber since your mobile detailing days, and this is exactly where I saw you heading. I don't know why, but I'm proud of you. It feels good to know that I share this Planet with you and the guy who took over this beaut of a beast.
Thx for the support!!
@@AMMO-NYC Do you ever clean the trunks of these old cars?!?
@@Viscalis This is the most logic thing to do.
Guys, here is The Savior
YaH The Heavenly FATHER HIMSELF was Who they Crucified/Pierced for our sins and “HERE IS THE PROOF”
From the Ancient Egyptian Semitic:
"Yad He Vav He" is what Moshe (Moses) wrote, when Moses asked YaH His Name (Exodus 3)

He - "Behold the Breath"
Vav - "Behold The NAIL"
That was an awesome story for that particular car. Kudos to the guy that got the car and did a donation in the name of the writer. You can see the excitement in him when he saw it. Im sure he will do a great job in restoring the car. And great job ammo for saving the car too. One of the best videos you ever posted!
Nice to save the old car she looks in pretty good shape I'm sure someone would love to have this.
You had me almost losing it Larry sir. I thought you almost forgot to tell us what happened with the motor and bam, right at the end you got me. 🤣 I can’t believe there were idiots(being nice) that were actually going to crush that classic vehicle. You are the man for breathing life back into it, literally. I can’t imagine how bad the smell was inside it. The man who took the car and wanted to pay for everything is a real class act and you were right. He definitely deserved that car. I hope he sends you before and after videos of the car and it’s first drive after it’s done. They don’t make them like that anymore, awesome job and great video!!! 👍😁
Looks like a junk car salesman who took the car
I'm in my 40's. I grew up restoring Model Ts up to 70's cars with my Father, Grandfather AND Great-Grandfather. I love watching you do these old cars. It brings back so many wonderful memories. Thank You.
Larry, that was one of the best stories (and best videos) of car related material I have seen on any channel anytime. I am a car guy and I love to detail my cars. I also love projects of helping others restore the appearance of their rides. I'm glad you got the opportunity to do this and I'm glad I took the time to watch the video.
man, I love your channel for quite a while. it is one of the most satisfying things to watch out there (while i was recovering from a very bad throat cancer your videos distracted me a lot). and in this episode you outdid yourself, so tremendously wholesome. you deserve every inch of the success you are having!
I'm not a car guy, but I appreciate the effort that goes into this kinda stuff. I loved watching this being cleaned up, it is super relaxing to watch new life breathed into things. Keep on doing what you love, and you got yourself a new subscriber!
I agree
Yeah, all things need some attention and care to keep going. Don't forget for too long about the stuff that's important to you, or it'll go bad one day. (yep, the implied parallel with relationships was intended)
This is one of the better videos I have seen all year. Here in the south those Mercury cars were desired my shine runners because of the big trunk and the ability to swap a bigger motor in. Seeing this car restored is awesome and I love how the new owner is not from the States but still loves old American classics. I also really enjoyed seeing you use traditional store bought chemicals like baking soda and vinegar. Thank you for the video and thank the new owner for restoring the car.
this one has a 390 CID in it allready
That FE, likely a 390, in proper tune, driven gently, can get 18-20 mpg on the highway, I’ve owned several. They are excellent engines, capable of economical reliability or hot rodded to serious HP and torque.
A friend of my mom had a mercury meteor that had a sliding back window , it was cool for a young kid.
@@donsmith8614 called a BREEZEWAY local funeral director had one and a blast to drive
That car is more clean than most Twitter users
I can't believe someone would have something so beautiful as that Mercury crushed... You're doing gods work.
As a car enthusiast, who also has a passion for automotive detailing, I truly enjoyed this content; keep up the great work, and take care !
I have never seen a more genuine and appreciative person to receive a car or see a reveille of a car. Awesome to see and made the video that much better!
The way you brought the paint back to life is incredible! Great tips on how, what and why on the cleaning and polishing of original finish. Thanks.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Such a beautiful car. Thanks for not only saving it, but giving it a new life.
The world needs more people like you !!
These episodes are just something else. Seeing such long neglected cars come back to life is just amazing. Great work as always, Larry.

From a weathered car guy, this is perhaps the coolest thing I've seen on RUclips in years....nicely done brother!
Yessir.Nicely done
Could not be a nicer man who got that car!! So cool!!
Why would anybody want to crush such an amazing car ? It hurts my heart to even think that someone thought it should be crushed. They don't make them like that anymore the lines the look of them are very special. Im glad you saved it and it went to a great home
spoken like a true Car Guy !!!!
Happy to see that Pavle guy is from Balkan, Larry you reached to every part of the world man!
Greetings from Balkan and some other Pavle, keep it going!

@@lukaradomirovic6403 Too brate!
What a find - and what an awesome job cleaning the vehicle, and most importantly - saving it from the crusher ! The kind, appreciative gentleman that took ownership of the vehicle really appreciated it and was generous with his donation to the ASAP program. Good things do happen in this world. Wonderful job !
Steve always saves the day. And that was one of the nicest steering wheels I've seen.
thats so fucking cool it put a HUGE smile on my face, the guy that it went to is definitely the right person, im glad he got the chance to share his positivity that day and get something that he'll love for years and possibly pass down to his children as well
Seemed like he was stoked cause they are gonna flip it, seems like one of those type of Armenian dudes... just sees it as $$$!..
As much as I like modern cars, there's this something that makes me more attached to restoration projects of Larry like this one. The cars has so much story to tell more than a drive in the tarmac or car shows.
The ending was so wholesome. What a great guy, he was just so excited to get the car. You can tell he thought he was being punked the whole time until he was literally in disbelief that he actually no strings attached got this car.
That Man who took the Car is from my Country, Serbia, and it is our honor to give money even if someone didnt want to, its from respect for a good work and you kindnes to give it for free
I just want to say thank you. You're videos taught me how to clean and detail vehicles back when i was in high-school (2012-2014) and ever since I've been watching your content. You've come along way since and it's awesome watching you grow. Keep up the awesome work.
I absolutely love his reaction and proves, yet again, that passion for cars is strong. I feel that he had a deeper story about the car and the meaning to him, that was not shared.
I hope he brings the car back after restoring it, so you can do a follow up. This is your best video ever! 👍🏻👍🏻
Great job done with great care. Bless that humble gentleman who decided to give this beauty a new home and his generous gesture to donate to charity.
You can see the guy is a true car enthusiast who is genuinely happy to become the new owner and not just another flipper!
Saw this one on your story, this episode is very wholesome
I remember my uncle buying one of these cars brand new. It was a canary yellow convertible .I find it hard to believe that someone would consider scrapping this car.I love your vids not only for the content but also for the presentation.
This gentleman is most likely an immagant living the American dream. God bless you and this beautiful country
To be honest, day after day watching Larry's videos continue, I realized I'm learning more than just detailing, the way how he explains and gives advice. best of all Larry.
Very nice of that man to pledge a donation
It was really nice of that guy who gave it to you, and the guy who got it must have been really stoked. First video I've seen of yours, I have a feeling that it's going to be a new favorite ♥
I love how happy they were. I'm glad this car will be saved!
Larry this is probably one the the best videos I’ve seen. The donation part was the best. This video should be on TV. Great job!,
Hello pretty how are you doing, hope you are doing well with your family?
This car belonged to an important figure from history and was gonna be destroyed. Thanks to you guys, it's looking great and has a second chance. It's videos like these that really make a car guy happy 😊
This made my day… and knowing the engine actually does work is icing on the cake.
Well done everyone.
I love this. He was so humble and kind. ❤️ He definitely deserved to have this car and you can tell he loves it so much!
Nicest story I've seen in a long time. You guy's rock! Bless you all and have a great Christmas and Holiday Season.
This proves it...Larry's kind heart is infectious and attracts those who are likewise...
Such a wholesome episode!!!
pavle (the guy who bought the car) is from former yugoslavia i guess.
he reminds me a lot of my father, he couldnt accept anything for free - he always wanted to pay...
there should be more people like pavle :) great guy, greetings from germany
maybe you can checkout what he did to the car in few months?
The best part of all your work is the appreciation of it by the new owner. You couldn't find a better one! When I make a give away of not needed value items, I am always happy if the next owner still takes care about it. I am so glad that the right person came!
Wow, just wow.
I would've loved something like that here in the UK.
Glad to see some genuine kindness, well done sir 👍
Since the guy and his wife came in to the garage I was smiling all the way until the end of the episode, he seems very nice guy and he deserved the car!
I'm very happy for him! I wish one day I owe such a car like this or something from the 70s, it has been a dream since my childhood and I hope one day this child in me gets to owe a classic car. Thanks for this amazing episode!
Wow, that's amazing what you did with that Mercury! I hope the new owners can turn that car around and get it running again. You don't see those cars on the road much anymore. It would be a jewel to see it fully restored. Thanks again for the amazing content, Larry. You are the man!
There is no nicer and better job than restoring an old car to life. It's hard work, but when it's done, it all pays off with great satisfaction. I enjoy watching shows like this.
My dad owned a 66 Montclair. Bringing it back to life brought back a flood of memories. Thank you.
Larry: you are one of a kind! God bless and keep you!
That was just great. I would love to see them come back and show you the car running again. So cool...
Sweet ride, love seeing old cars being looked after.
I am humbled to see someone so dedicated to their business/craft. Love the story and the great work to the Mercury. Look forward to ordering some product to use on my ‘32 Buick.
What a great guy you are,not only to save the car but then to give this car to anyone great good for you.hope to see more of this in the future.
The Montclair 4 door sedan was one of the cheaper Mercurys built in 66. However compared to todays car it stands out like a jewell. My Aunt and Uncle had a 65 Mercury very similar to this in Turquoise and I remember it well. They owned it for five years, which was a long time for them. Congratulations to the new owners. I think they will be good caretakers. Great work on the detailing. I have learned some good lessons.
Larry, you need to hire an Apprentice to help you. Teach him/her the Trade.
Amen to that!
Dude I would straight up pay this guy to learn from him. I have been detailing family and friends cars for years but still there is sooo much to learn. And I think there is nothing at all close to learning directly from a master
Been watching Larry since this channel had about 10K subscribers. This is a top 5 video for me. Larry never stops amazing me with how he brings these cars back to life
Thanks for the support over the years! :)
You’re the man, Larry. That car went to an incredible couple. All your videos are great, but this is my favorite one in awhile.
This is why your channel is one of my favorite. Amazing content and even more amazing work. Great job, man!
This was awesome! Restoration, grateful owner and a donation to help our kids. Beautiful.
What a beautiful car. It’s a 1966. My parents owned a Monterey of that year Breezeway edition where the rear window when up and down. First car I ever drove. Brings back memories
Oh man, with everything going on in the world today, I needed this. Not only to see incredible people investing time and energy into preserving a great legacy, but also to see the investment in future creativity through programs like ASAP. Thank you, Larry!
That was quite the project! Kudos for giving some of the dignity back to that land yacht. I’m sure the new owner will be very happy. This is one of my favorite AMMO episodes. 👍🏻🤘🏻
This is awsome dude! It's nice to see how someone with your talets is able to help the community and entertain your audience with great projects such as this. Thanks!
You know its bad when you see a grown man jump back.
And THANKYOU for saving that beautiful car from death (Crusher)
And that was the right man for the car. I hope he sends you pics after he gets it back on the road.
Love that you managed to save the car, get it to a good home AND raised money for a good program!
WOW - I'd love to see that car again after the FULL restoration.
Indeed!
I love how you bring in other experts of their own field to help you best restore the car to as close to its' former glory as it can be. Great seeing other faces around your shop.
wow what a story, the guy that received car what a great guy,it make me feel good to see there are still people like this man and his wife ,thank you
You're a very brave man, tackling a car like that... I would be really frightened to even open that car, knowing that there's a big chance some kind of rodent will come and jump at you. But besides that, the smell and the unbelievable amount of mess the rodents left behind ... I shiver at just the idea! So you, my man, have my deepest respect!
Each vehicle has its own story and you always add to the story………rather than the vehicle meeting it’s fate at the crusher. Another great save👍
it makes me super happy that you people do what you do to save these old cars. Thank you
Great to see you saved this car and it went to a good home. Save em all!
