The best street bike I've ever owned. Handling second to none--amazing chassis!Performance is mild if both barrels aren't working, but amazing when they are! Within 10 lbs of a RZ350, with more horsepower and far more torque. And 55 mpg!

I can remember three blokes riding over from Sweden on these and entering one of the rounds in the Sound of Singles series at Oulton Park during the mid nineties. To say they were impressive(as well as very well ridden) is an understatement considering they all just missed the podium despite being up against all manner of race specials including RG125/ DR800 hybrids. One of those rare machines that amount to far more than just the sum of their parts.

I have the same year model Sport in yellow. I don't love it but I got it very cheap. It's like riding a 2-wheeled traction engine.

+songsamsung Get her running good and you might feel different about it. Not sure if you are jaded by super bikes or what but this bike is definitely capable of providing some fun times when treated properly. Right now, mine isn't very stock but weighs just a tick over 300lbs and is pumping out a conservative 60hp to the rear wheel. Outside of drag racing or doing speed runs over 100mph, my bike is very capable. Soon to be under 300lbs and over 65hp. :) Basically feels like a bad ass dirt bike but for the street.

+songsamsung Forgot to mention, when I bought mine, it felt like a tractor too. It would go highway speeds but took forever to get there. Come to find out, the diaphragm that opens the second carb which feeds two of the three intake valves, wasn't seated and didn't open at all. So I was running on one intake valve. Hope you get her running good and enjoy what a great bike these Skorpions really are. Check your valve clearances too.

+Victor I must've written that comment after I hadn't owned the bike for long because I remember that was how I felt about it at first. I was working my way up from a no money situation by trading up to a bigger bike as soon as I found one I liked that I could afford. I started with a Suzuki Goose 350 that handled and braked like a racer. It had a silky smooth 6-speed gearbox but it just didn't have enough power. After that the MZ felt very big and clunky but the extra power was nice. I did get used to it and even came to like it after a while but having owned much more powerful bikes it was never going to be my darling. I sold it recently and now have a Honda VTR1000 which satisfies my horsepower needs - although the steering isn't as sharp as I'd like. I did grow to like the MZ though and the original design concept was a good one - the brakes, chassis and suspension are all very good but in my view it's not quite the package for hard out sports riding. If I'd designed it I'd probably have made the frame a bit lower and shorter with quicker steering and a much more tuned engine. That would make it a top fun bike on the twisty back roads. As standard the Sport is a very good bike but I feel it could have been so much better if designed as a real hard out sports machine.

+songsamsung That's why I built an aluminum sub frame, trimmed all the other fat off, had a suspension guru update the forks and shock as well as set up the ride height/sag, and then I went through the engine(new carbs/totally new head and cam set up, full race exhaust). I have about $7000 in it including orig purchase price, but she will hang with and pull away from a tuned KTM 690SMC. :) It's the perfect weapon for medium speed twisties.

+Victor Young If you look at my other videos you will see my KTM 690 Supermoto. Its hard to believe you could make your MZ run anywhere close to that beast. I have a video up of my old blue Scorpion Tour which had a K&N filter, exhaust and jetting done, but even that wasn't close to the power of the KTM.

No EPA to worry about here. I also have a diesel truck that spews thick black smoke, no worries.

I was thinking it looks like a Yamaha motor but listening to it, it sounds like a Rotax motor?

IT was made by Yamaha for MZ, its basically the same engine as in the Raptor 660.

It was an ordinary Yamaha 660 engine. The same as used in the XTZ 660 and SZR 660.
      Nothing special about that.
