Superb video. Many thanks! I'm planning to do the C2C later in the year - hopefully in better weather! The freedom of the road includes the freedom to change your plans. You made a good call. Given the chance to show it, there are lots of lovely people out there. It's not to be exploited but when you need it . . . .
Lovely film. My daughter and I did this on tandem a few years back. Dave at North Pennine Cycles was brilliant - helped with a replacement inner ring on the tandem chainset when ours failed on the way up Hartside (the original 'stronglight' ring was not strong at all). I also remember that steep hill just after Muggleswick - thinking it would be an easy coast after leaving Edmundbyers hostel this was a bit of a wake-up. Also, the feeling of 'we must be nearly there now' on reaching Newcastle but having a few more miles to go to Tynemouth.
I'm thrilled to have found your channel. Your stamina is amazing. I really enjoy these trips of yours, and your smile and giggles are infectious. Keep sharing 🙂
Fab! I always loved the C2C, i used to live in Rowlands Gill so the north pennines uswd to be my stomping ground too. Did a traditional route 3 day c2c when i first started cycling way back in 2009, then over the years versions of 1 day routes, and even a there and back in 24 hours. But however you do it, its always worth it. (But please please, its "tine-mouth" as in mouth of the river Tyne 😅)
Great video Lucy, you are very persistent in your adventures very inspiring, i like the good spirit of humanity in this one it just proves its still about nowadays or maybe its because your a cyclist..😉 see you on the next one.👍🏻
Done this last August over 3 days Whitehaven to Penrith then Penrith to Stanhope then Stanhope tynemouth some horrible climbs but what an achievement each day was really enjoyed it I stopped at that bike shop and dave sorted my brakes as we had dried out and had something to eat next door
I loved your video and I really resonated with you and that bloke on the Whinlatter. I much prefer to ride alone and at whatever pace I choose. The north Pennines are an forgiving place at times, it used to be my usual riding routes. I was also intrigued at your planned stopping points which seem to be a littlw off the C2C route. Keep up the great videos though.
It’s great riding with friends but sometimes I love a solo trip. In my experience the friendliness of strangers increases as the number of riders decreases 🙂. If you’re looking for suggestions for future trips, how about the Hebridean Way? Loads of camping, hostel B&B options - or to blow your mind Mangersta Bothy (The Eagle’s Nest). Alternatively, the Coast to Coast sportive 😂
Youre right there was a lovely cafe at the top of hartside but it burnt down a few years agao and hasnt found funding to be rebuilt yet. Shame cos it was such a wonderful respite
A perfect film of a fantastic journey.
I did the coast 2 coast a few years back and watching this makes me want to do it all again!! Brilliant!!
Thank you so much! I would ride it again too, maybe in summer 😂
Well done Lucy and good choice turning back in those strong winds. Always nice to relax and watch your adventures 😁😁
Thank you 🥰
Good effort Lucy, amazing the nice people you find on these routes 😊
It really is! Thanks so much for watching!

It was a great trip! So glad I finally got chance to ride this route 🥰
Hi Lucy that was fantastic in those conditions I smiled all the way through your ride, I relived my ride but I did it when the sun was shining 😊
It was amazing despite the conditions! Thanks so much 🥰

Thanks so much Rich - if you haven’t done C2C I recommend it!
Really enjoyed your video once again. Quite an adventure in tough conditions. Challenging but you make it look easy.
Love the adventure! Thanks John for your support 🥰
Nice work! Looked super-tough in those conditions.
Thank you so much !
Thank you for your video. Let's hope this blooming weather picks up. Cheers
Ha ha yes! Dryer this weekend. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! The diversions were for the budget accommodation I had booked that was available with my last minute planning 🥰
Thanks Lucy, great video. I have this on my retirement bucket list, how did you get back to Whitehaven?
It’s a great route! I got the train.. Newcastle to Carlisle and then Carlisle to whitehaven. Bike carriage available!
@@Sturgecycling Thanks, I’ll have a look at that.
@arnoldmonk6381 it was surprisingly straight forward when I did it… for once!

Oh wow!
Rode past my house at the end, there's some tough roads up here, it's not flat by any means.
Ha ha really! Yes it’s a tough but great route!
Which time of the year did you cycle the route?
Last weekend!
Saludos desde España
Another great and motivating video, what model is your Lazor helmet?
I’m not quite sure actually! I will check… thank you so much 🥰
What kind of bike maintenance do you need to know? That scares me lol
Hm… well I know the basics… tyre / puncture repair. Make sure bike in good condition before the trip and you’re never too far away from a bike shop
Good girl yourself!
Started watching this and was enjoying it till she got to the feminist rant about a guy man’s planning her ffs grow up lady he was making conversation
‘Feminist rant’ … Righty oh! 😂
Will remain seen and not heard in future 😏
