Brandi's voice is incredible! And as someone who's been listening to her ever since I was a kid, her voice has always sounded like that. I highly recommend you check out her song "The Story" too!
One the greatest voices in all of music, when I first realized what his song was about (people like me), I instantly burst into tears. One of the best live performances I've seen in a decade. Great reaction, be sure to check out The Story, another magical song from Brandi.
Brandi has been around for so many years. I've seen her multiple times and she never disappoints! I'm so happy she is being recognized now! It's unreal how many great songs she has that haven't found their way to the top. Her covers of songs are also mind blowing!
The music video is stunning too. There are people of different ages and ethnicities singing along in black and white. It’s amazingly effective. Chills every time I see it. And yes, Brandi is phenomenal.
@loveyouallforeva I remember watching this live, and I’d never heard of Brandi Carlile. I had goosebumps before the halfway point of this song. I was trying to hold back from crying my eyes out. Not because it made me sad, but because it had such an ethereal dreaminess to it. Although, I did see the Grammy’s performance at a tumultuous and can’t do anything about it, time in my life. It was just so engaging and made me wish I had just an ounce of her creativity and ease while singing. Yes, she said she was so nervous, but she stole the show and brought the house down. Her music isn’t considered Country, as mentioned in the “breakdown,” although they did show the reactions of many Country Music performers; her music is more Americana. On a separate post, many of the commenters didn’t care for the “warble” in her voice, and they mostly attributed it to her being nervous. Totally false. Another amazing singer/songwriter with an occasional warble-Johnny Cash.
Brandi and the twins are so incredible. I’ve seen them so many times, including at Red Rocks and The Gorge Amphitheater in Washington. They always sound absolutely amazing and this is how she always sings 💙
To hear her speaking voice (and singing voice), check out her cover of “Hello in There” on the Stephen Colbert show. It was her tribute to the legendary John Prine , who had passed away the day before.
I've been listening to her since 2007 when I heard The Story (single) on the radio one day, and I needed to hear her voice for like five days straight after that. It was from her second album so i listen to those first two albums a lot, and every album since then too. I've seen her in concert twice and she's just absolutely captivating. Her voice has changed a bit but the rasp, cries, and general timbre are pretty much the same as when she was younger. She has beautiful songs. Hope you get a chance to dive into her work more, even if not for reactions. Her voice is incredible.
Hi Jessica. I Love Your videos. Your insight and knowledge are second to none. I like that You choose Live appearances rather than the studio recordings. -..and I like this song...🙂👍
I've listened to her for years. Brandi is an amazing vocalist. Listen to The Story which came out in 2007. Her voice has evolved since she had gotten older but it would give you a great comparison on her vibrato changes.
Is saw her in a small theater venue.. Her and the two guitar players stepped out from behind the microphones sang and played without them and it was amazing And her voice and music went to the back of that theater without a problem
Hi Jess, I've been watching your videos for a couple of years now but it's my first time commenting so first I'd like to thank you for the quality work. Then, I suggest you react to the song Trece un Nouraș pe Sus by the Romanian vocal group Surorile Osoianu. Not that there is anything impressive about the vocal performance, I just love that song very much. Hope you have a great day.
😍 - For something at the opposite end of the scale, have you heard of Zhou Shen? (pronounced Jo Shen). He's a Chinese singer with a really unique tone (in my opinion). Quite a technical singer, but more on the subtle, less showy, in your face side (than say some other prolific singers you've critiqued,,,👀). As a starter, I would recommend a song called Floating Lights, so beautiful and ethereal: ruclips.net/video/V9urHalowa8/видео.htmlfeature=shared
From the performances I've seen of this song, my favorite one, and the one I find to best fit the subdued but powerful personality of the song is still the one she gave at the late show: ruclips.net/video/EJux02lrMeI/видео.html

Brandi - “The Story”
She said she was so nervous this night.Janelle Monet was standing up when she started singing, so she sang to her. That's why she's looking to the side

Seen her live this past summer- simply stunning! So want her at a Joni Jam.
Check "The Story" which was in a Ford commercial played during the Olympics in China. The first time I ever heard her.
LOVE HER! Please react to her cover of “Hallelujah”! It’s literally life changing.

Brandi and the band do an incredible live cover of Elton John's "Madman Across the Water."

And then some of us have Vibrato Gone Wild! Definitely age.
I never thought of Brandi Carlile as a country singer… Maybe I should’ve!
She's kind of in the Americana / folk rock / alt country genre. Country and folk have the same musical roots but diverged politically.
Aaaaack! I hate being too early!
