Singing Bowls: a short meditation to relax the body and mind

- This is a short experimental video achieved by filming smoke from the Nepalese incense as it rose in the beams of blue light from one of our outdoor lamps. We found it mesmerising and hope you do too. We recorded the sound of the Himalayan bowls being played to the speed and movement of the rising swirls and curls of the smoke. We will be doing and extended version.

What kind of microphone do you use to record this? I like the sound and the vibration seems very strong.
Hi Carol we have a Zoom H6 to record the bowls - for the earlier videos we used two Zoom H4n recorders that we've had for years. We needed to replace them so managed to get the Zoom H6 on ebay and are really happy with the quality. Best wishes - Pam

This is so peaceful. Is the smoke we are seeing live with the playing of the bells? And do the bells' vibrations affect the smoke?
I'm guessing that they used one or more blue smoke video clips from a site like Pond5 and then looped them and played along to it? (EDIT: I was wrong! 🤦♂Read the official story below! ☺)
Hi Mark - We were given some thick sticks of Incense and when lit the smoke was quite thick, I prefer to use an oil burner or diffuser in the house as I don’t like the smoke from the incense.
When we work at home in the evenings we use a colour changing light to shine up through muslin curtains to create a soft gentle background and Jurek wondered how the smoke would look if he filmed it in a light and this is one of the short videos he took.
I found it mesmerising so we decided to play bowls while watching the video and this is the result.
We normally create the sound as we’re filming, or sound first then visuals but this was different. It was the same for four of our other videos Hokema Sansula and reflections in the river and Reflections in a stream accompanied by the monochord and gong meditation by the pool and Snow and Sound
We never use clips and create all the content in our videos both sound and visuals
