Looking forward to seeing where this goes; I can imagine a number of different changes. Would love a version with more players, although I can imagine that might be hard to get right.
@@lostmarbles2d The only way I could see more players working is a circular arrangement, with the 'vines' growing outward from a center core. So more like kelp. That way the vines could still hit all the other players just by bending around.
@@SeanMirrsen That's a good idea, it would work well with the movement of the vines. The other methods I'm considering: 1. In a line, close by. Currently recording a version with this method. For this method I'm removing collision between team members. 2. Circular arrangement, but gravitationally bound to the center, like with my tricky towers videos. 3. Opposite gravity. The two players / teams start at opposite top and bottom and have opposite gravity settings. This has the added effect of requiring a very long vine to be able to hit the enemy core.
@@lostmarbles2d idk how it would work, but i was first thinking of a sort of looping box, so that the right is connected to the left and vice versa. I just don't know how it could be implemented, and it would probably only really work with low player counts.
I really love the counters that track how many marbles have passed through! It really helps tell the story of the game. Though I have to wonder how green managed to get just so many more marbles than orange
Ever so slightly borrowed from Mikan, but uniquely different, nicely done! The vines feel a bit constrained by the short distance between them, but it worked out fine in the end. Nice to see you're still branching out into new interesting marble games. Even if this time it's vines with no branches to speak of. :)
@@lostmarbles2d Perhaps for the next one you could implement something like Mikan's idea of 'crisis mode'? If one vine is much longer than the other, or has much more health, the opening that lets white marbles to that vine's side has a flap descend on it, constricting the flow and shifting the bias to the other side.
SPOILER ALERT !!! Why does green has 60 more marbles than orange at the end ? Something is wrong about the distribution for a difference that big Edit: i calculated the p-value, and its 1.41%. So there is 1.41% chance that orange have that many less in this situation. Or 2.82% that one color have at least that many more marbles. In science, we say that we need less than 5% to happend randomly to say that something is wrong, and here its the case Edit 2: at 8:10, both colors have exactly the same number of marbles, its only at the last 4 minute that green gets more marbles
Probably due to the second marble spawner that opens up after 7 minutes. Getting the balance of the marble mixing right was really tough. What I've done for the next one is to have both side spawners active from the start, and each one has a slip lane where most of the marbles will immediately go to that player's side, and a small portion of marbles will go through to the mixer in the center, where they have a chance of going either way.
Wow. I know it’s been a while since I’ve watched and compared to what I last saw and was expecting, my expectations were blown out of the water with a nuke. Seriously, good job man! Maybe you should consider doing some merch if you haven’t already!
Thanks! I did put a lot of effort into this one. I'd like to do things like merch, but I doubt there will be much interest. Maybe when I have more subscribers!
everything went wrong when the second marble dropper opened, until then the counts were basically even but by the end it was heavily skewed in green's favor 319 - 263. Almost a 20% difference.
I seem to have the unique ability to always route for the loosing side in these. there seems to have been a bias towards green marbles though. even at the end orange only had 14 marbles to greens 43~ marbles.
Muscle: Allows the vine to swing harder and faster. Straight: Adds a segment of vine after the current piece. Thorn: Does more damage to the other vine. Swing: The vine swings at the other vine doing damage, if it doesn't have any muscle it won't swing Heal: Will heal the vines a portion of health. Fruit: Makes a fruit on a random price of the vine that will explode when hitting the other vine. Upgrade: Will make some portions of the vine stronger.
Be careful when you go out to the jungles, because you never know when you might encounter local vegetation suddenly coming to life, proceeding to smack you in the face....
My guess is that the timing for the balls dropping around 7:30 ended up lining up with the moving block in just the right way. It does seem odd that green would end with 60 more balls than orange. I feel like staggering the entry of the balls or perhaps adding another collision before they get the color could help some.
SPOILER Yeah, get fucked Orange! I hate how in these videos, it seems that the side i decide to root for at the start ends up losing most of the time, and I tend to pick the cooler (as opposed to warmer) color.
i love how there was a period of time where Green was completely unable to swing due to not having any muscles.

I had to put that in for testing to get the balance right, left it in because why not
The forest background image make the game a lot better (visually) than many other races of yours.
Thanks! It's thanks to your comment on discord :)
3:33 the way orange throws his vine at green here got a chuckle out of me
There seems to be a bias in green’s favour.
During testing there was always a massive favour in Orange's favour, took a lot of tweaking to get it this close.

Right. Really seems to generate more green than orange at that point. Not super balanced.
Green abused the use of explosives to absolutely wreck everything, including the pile of decomposed matter on the ground

Wow, I like it!
On a philosophical note, this video illustrates how people would behave if we were driven purely by chemical interactions occuring in our brains.
How orange survived for so long against the absolute flood of green marbles is a mystery to me.
I like this a lot.
Muscle: Allows the vine to swing harder and faster.
Straight: Adds a segment of vine after the current piece.
Thorn: Does more damage to the other vine.
Swing: The vine swings at the other vine doing damage, if it doesn't have any muscle it won't swing
Heal: Will heal the vines a portion of health.
Fruit: Makes a fruit on a random price of the vine that will explode when hitting the other vine.
Upgrade: Will make some portions of the vine stronger.

Green had like, almost 100 more balls at the end than orange, that's why it won!
What’s the purple box say? Black in dark purple is hard to read.
What exactly did the upgrade slot do? I didn't really see anything new that it added.
Slightly increases size, health and damage of all current segments. It's very subtle, will probably increase it for the next one.
the number indicating the times passed is interesting, it lets you see how hard things are to reach

What did upgrade even do?
Makes all segments on the vine a bit bigger, tougher, deal more damage, etc.
