A musician friend once told me that "you perform like you practice." Nice to see your videos again. thank you.

Thanks for creating your videos again!! 😊 I can't wait to try this drill! I have limited access to practice ice (even more so this year), but I always struggle to optimize my time...this sounds like a great way to work on different shots!

Jamie thanks for doing these videos. I am at a young curling club and I tell people on my teams to watch your videos and then I see how they are doing and we make corrections. I can notice drastic improvement in their level of play in a few weeks.

Great video Jamie. Doing so much solo practice this year, it is hard to maintain that high level of focus and hard to find good intermediate drills that are well suited for practicing alone. Always appreciate your helpful videos.

Jamie, I have a new score update! I taught another learn-to-curl class last night and had a little time to do another round of Homebase drills with my new Goldline G50 shoes. My first 8 stones I scored 9 with no sweeping. Coming back didn’t go so well, I got like 2 points from the 8. But 9 is my new highest score with no sweeping. 😉

Jamie could you cover skipping strategy. I discovered what strategy works at arena club level doesn’t work well at a bonspiel with dedicated ice with more advanced curlers.

    Jamie,
I taught a learn-to-curl class last night and we had some extra ice time as we were cleaning up. I threw some stones with my co-worker and tried doing your homebase drill. Looks like I scored 8 after throwing 8 stones. I was a little tired but that was a great drill to practice. When I start to break in my new Goldline shoes, I will do it again.

8 is a great score to start! Nice work! yes, especially if you are sweeping, it can be exhausting!

@@CurlUpWithJamie are you allowed to sweep your stones when you throw them for this drill? I just threw them and left them alone to see where they stopped. Just curious. And thank you!

Thanks for the great drill Jaime! When doing this are you chasing the rock down and sweeping or aiming to make the shots without any sweeping influence?

haha depends how accurate i think i threw the rock. Sometimes i know right out of hand im going to have to sweep it to get it there!
But its a good idea to get up and sweep if you can because its a great way to also practice your weight judging and sweeping!
