Great to watch these fine TV ads again!👍. My eldest son starred in a few Zim TV adverts when he was about 9/10 years old. He did one for Colgate toothpaste (riding his BMX bike), another one for Buttercup margarine (riding a bigger bike with another boy of similar age down a farm dirt road and his last one was for Barclays Bank (this time with a girl of similar age who were both filmed helping a little old lady at an ATM machine). My younger son also starred in a Wimpy advert which was also shown in cinemas around the country. I would love to be able to see them again and indeed to show them to my boys who are now aged 35 and 33. Any chance you may be able to dig them out any archives? Would much appreciate it! All the best, Martyn 😁
YOU REALLY GOT ME DUDE.....I was born late and looking at this, this is all i wanted and i never had a chance to experience any of these....looking at these adverts is one thing that takes me back to where life was when it was perfect.....I dropped a tear.....i just wish we had a few things left to remind us of who how it was then....A lot of our History and Definition of who we are has been lost through the time.....and i just hope that we can be able tell the next generation of wat it was like to be in Zimbabwe..... We have adopted too much of the outside influence not because we wanted to but maybe because we had to but we lost our identity thus loosing even our core values of who we are as a people......I personally cannot watch ZTV because i feel like they moved 2 steps forward then in the 2000s they took 800 steps backward....awkward jokes ....bad quality....i hope kuchirikuitwa news ....and 1975 american movies....now nema 1990 Koreans futi pluz zvimwe....
Hindsight is 20:20. The best part of the Perfection soap advert for me is that it was multi-lingual, suggesting a unified nation whose citizens understand eachother. I wish there was more of that sentiment in the present.
I miss the old Zimbabwe I'm glad I'm the generation that enjoyed its best years unfortunately I can't give my kids the same feel. Number one had to be the Perfection ad rest in peace mdara bonzo
Aww bitter sweet 🇿🇼It's the small things that matter. Love love the list, you took me back to my childhood 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 God will restore our nation at the appointed time 🙏🏾
I was waiting for the Sun jam one 😂😂😂 There were some others that are missing like the humming bake bean one, and the ripe and ready drink also one where a man used to knock on the tv I can’t remember it fully lol And the North Star trainers 👟 Zimbabwe was so ahead of its time Great video
Dude we grow up during the great times but cry my beloved Zw.We used to sing the Buttercup advert at break time back then.Been in Grade 3 around 1989.You made my eyes well in tears.Next time don't forget the Chibataura one-mom paAirport achisiya hembe for Chibataura and the other one,'...kutobika macake iwe une mari yangu....'
A great compilation indeed thanks Zim Tech Guy for reminding us of those great days. My best ever advert however is the Chibataura advert featuring the late Kizito Gamaliel, where he stumbled upon his debtor enjoying a meal prepared using Chibataura Roller Meal and the debtor had a hard time convincing his creditor that it wasn't the smell of cakes emanating from his kitchen but just Chibataura sadza.
Nice 1 I also remember the one for Lifebouy soap by Peter Ndlovu "Lifebouy yisepa yami" Another 1 for Nyore Nyore by Bruce Gobbler "haigorasese" (haikurasisi)
Brilliant. Thank you! We loved the peanut butter one and the lunch bar one... I still remember the peanut butter advert word for word. Nearly 30 years ago! 🤣
What a simpler and more wonderful time when people actually were hopeful! Great video...I think it just made us all cry and remember the old days... cry my beloved country
Loved this to bits. Brought back good old memories. Was very young wen we used to watch these on zbc. I also remember the bubblegummers ad really well. Thanks zim tech guy.
Hey dude, great video! I've tried and failed to find these videos on their own so this video is excellent. Hope it gets a lot of views. Thanks from the UK :)
Loved watching these. 😢So sad that our country does not make any of those products anymore. Does anyone remember the Cashel valley advert with the vegetables trying to get into the cans?
Wow!, u brought back wonderful memories when we used to watch from a black and white TV... Kkkkkkk. You left that advert from Chigutiro blue ribbon. That man who dribbled which the soccer ball.
The nostalgia!! Thank you for the time travel. Nice to see all these adverts on colour for the first time!! It ws black and white for some of us in the 80s😆😅
Image soap. Great video, as a purist don't speak over the advert as you play it , but nice collection here, I'm not so sure about the sugar advert. Air Zimbabwe had some nice adverts too that were memorable.
I agree with you especially paTop 3 but to this day, I am yet to decide on which one is better than the other between the Chibuku and the Perfection adverts. Both are top class.
Uuuuummmm hey! That's going down memory lane for sure. Great job! Even further in the hazy past, I remember this Mazoe oranges ad 'Signed by the sun' featuring a mischievous old man at a party. Also the Old Mutual ad 'My country, my future' was a real classic.
I had "you need a bath, geza" stuck in head all afternoon! I was trying to tell my bf (who isn't from Zim) the story. I'm so glad I found this video. Thank you. I was tearing up and laughing. And then I was like, who let their little children play with a real life rhino 😱😂 Zim 💜
great stuu well done for putting that together. Can you find these adverts , Air zim when the animals sing oh wont you stay, baked bean cashel valley wee oh wee oh cant you see the best baked beans... and penut butter smooth and cousin crunchey and Luxair matteres, I'm gona take my steadside for a ride...🤣 I hope you find them. Good luck 😁👍👍👌
This took me on a trip down memory lane. Particularly the toughees and chibuku ads. They coloured my youth. I also remember merlin towels in the cupboard.
Awww tHANKS great memories and very emotional. I have to say we had some good adverts back in the day...some of the advertising agencies now could possibly learn a thing or two :)
Thanks so much taking me back to my childhood.... There was the Sheraton Hotel advert, Beverly advert (bee ba bee lula bees my baby) have looked everywhere i cant find them. The Lyons Maid one (come alive with lyons maid)
Hey guys i've uploaded Part 2 of this video, you can WATCH IT HERE: ruclips.net/video/3oP6Uu_h1aI/видео.html
Loved the magarine advert man took me way back when l was 6 years old
You should have let the ads run without the commentary.
@@terrieterrie5780 Noted, part 2 did not have the commentary, check pinned post
@@ZimTechGuy I liked your commentary! Each to their own I suppose.
@@_zikhali the commentary was good for me too. I think it's important to appreciate someone's effort without having to criticize unnecessarily.
It was really a promising vibrant nation, ... gone is my beloved Zimbabwe

There was no place on earth like Zimbabwe was and I’m saying this living in Los Angeles
i agree, the music today is awful. i dont see how you can go from mukanya, tuku, mr chitungwiza to what you have now
Zim never left it was affected by greed and power from all angles. Many only see one side
Some of these memories you just watch and cry...how deep our country has fallen
It's so painful .
Your country hasn't fallen at all. It is still beautiful.
Ah man i was in tears of joy and pain watching all these commercials. I miss Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 with all my heart, love from New Zealand.
I miss zimbabwe with all my heart, the place it’s used to be. From Los Angeles California
I also miss Zimbabwe I'm in UK😩😩
That old Zim doesn't exist anymore.
These adverts need more diversity
That Toughees advert brought such warm fuzzy feelings..thanks dude
Thanks for reminding us of old golden days
Thanks Tim, my pleasure
I never ever thought I'd come across these adverts again..so many good memories, thank you,I'll sleep well tonight.

This video is excellent....well done man
Amazing effort. Thank you for giving these a new lease of life.
Perfection is indeed Number1. Will Zim ever retain it's lost glory? Fun adverts - yet so sad.
The most sad part of this video is that there was no Ndebele advert. We are coming from far🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
I especially like number 2. Thanks Tech Guy you really made my day.
