This video brings back so many memories of taking this same very trip up river every July and August to stay with my Aunt and cousins. Then every Sabbath we go to Bootoba Church. Thanks for sharing this video. You are doing such a beautiful job of showing us Linden. I left in 1972 and will visit there one day soon.
We just watched the entire video Brian and Jackie. Enjoyed it. Mom and Evadney watched very closely- re winded to relive some of the precious images. I would love to be there with you on the next trip. Thanks for sharing Cuz
Thanks for watching cuz. I really enjoyed those trips. I want to do a trip down the river the next time. Would like to showcase Linden more. I know you would write some nice poems about those awesome sites!!!!
What a wonderful video up the Demerara River. This is the first time I have seen that far up the river. I enjoyed you narrating all your childhood times in those areas. I guess it must have brought back so many memories to you. Looking forward to seeing more of your future adventures.
Thanks Ravi!!!! Was so happy to get to make the trip up the river, to places I have so many memories of!!!! If you are enjoying our videos, please share them, so we could reach more people.🙏
Hi Carolyn, welcome to our channel, wow 42yrs since you visited the homeland you're wayyy over due for a visit .😊 Nothing like that black water of the demerara River!! Thanks for watching...please remember to subscribe and share so others can enjoy as well ❤
Thanks for posting this video. I'm Guyanese who migrated overseas in 1978. While from Georgetown I spent time both in Berbice & Essequibo as a result of my job. Most people still do not appreciate or fully understand how large Guyana is. For all the recent hype about the oil wealth it is comforting to see that there is still so much undeveloped native beauty. I hope it remains so for the years to come. I have only revisited Guyana three times, 1979 & 1980 and 2014. Only my last visit in 2014 was it for pleasure, spending most of time at resorts in the interior.
Hi DPC yes there is still a lot of natural untouched places in guyana 🇬🇾 we're so happy that you enjoyed, please remember to subscribe, and share so that you can enjoy the rest of our videos and others can also!
Thank you for watching Bibi,we're so happy to show you a part of guyana that you've never seen before ,please share and subscribe so that others can enjoy as well 🙏
Well done . Back in memory Lane. I enjoyed every minute of it but when you came to the creeks where you hunt so many wild animals throws me right back in first gear. I wish if I knew of these places. I had a friend who died in Manhattan but once lived at Coomaka. I bought some Towa Towa.from him once in a while. Enjoy your stay
Thank you Sir!! I would really love to call you to chat with you. So if you have anyone that is on Facebook, please let the message me, so I could send you my number. I live in MD.
@@adventuresofjb- I have a close friend in MD but don't know if he is alive. The last time I spoke to him was about three years ago and he was sick. His name is George Skeete. Might be in the tel. dir. I know the place is big but make a check and let me know if you come up with anything. I don't like face book , its trble.
At 25:27, the yellow silver balli paddles last for about 2 years. Well, that is if you don't take good care of them. With paint and good care, they will last much longer. In the Essequibo river (similar to this upper Demerara river), the hulls of small boats are made from yellow silver balli (and the frame from tacouba (heart of mora trees)) and those, with good care, last for about 25 years. Speaking from experience from 40 years ago. Things may be different now. I have never travelled up the Demerara river. Thanks for the tour.
Ramesh your on poin with your information and the same practice stills applies to this day,a well cared paddle and boat last for a long period for real. Thank you for your support, please continue to watch and share our videos !
Hi @walesyouth7183 yes you can travel up to Linden though the Demerara River by boat, that's how the ships come up to Linden for Bauxite. The falls is way up the river.
Hi Raymond. There are two roads you could use to get to Old England. One on the eastern side, and one on the western side of the Demerara River. I think the one you are asking about is on the western side. As soon as you cross the Wismar/ McKenzie bridge to get to Wismar, turn on the left. You will get to West Watoka. That road will take you all the way to old England. And there are a lot of farming done in the area.( and you are right, you could get some good hunting there)
@adventuresofjb- thanks for the in fo I will like to get to no u guys I born in Guyana leave Guyana 2008 living in Canada since then I go all over Guyana bush all over letem hunt and fishing all over Guyana I always say when we crossing that bridge going hunting or fishing up that river must be waste land but I was wrong on till I saw that video next time I come to Guyana I want to go up there for 3or 4 days hunt and fishing like wear your husband say one time the shoot 11 laba and one deer and lots of fish
Raymond it looks like you like the outdoors like me. I have been fishing and hunting since I was a small boy! We do try to go home for a visit every year, and I get to go on at least one trip, sometimes two, in the Demerara , Essequibo, or Berbice rivers. If we can plan our trip to Guyana at the same time, I would love to make a trip to one of the places you have not been to before. If you are on Facebook, we could communicate there, and I could give you my number so we could chat.

Wow that's awesome we always used to see the sun Britton coming up the river.
I’m from wales West Demerara. Is there any way we could travel by boat all the way down to linden? Or would the falls affect us?

Bootaba, the mission village where the Flemings originate.
Yep, the two guys we were talking to on the beach, we’re Flemings.
How deep is dat linden river?
Robin I'm not sure about the depth of the river ,but huge ships come up there .
The ships need about 10 metre depth
@indarpersaud8786 Yes they are very deep ships to carry all that bauxite!
