A brief bio about Jerry: Drummer, singer, and songwriter Jerry Gaskill founded the progressive metal band King's X in 1983. A native of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Gaskill began playing at a young age, forming a band with his father and brother and playing his first gig at the age of seven. After playing in bands throughout high school, he became heavily involved in the Christian faith and enrolled at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. Not long after arriving in Springfield, he befriended bassist Doug Pinnick and the two formed a sturdy rhythm section, backing up artists like future Petra singer Greg X. Volz and guitarist Phil Keaggy.
Out of the Silent Planet
After trying out various combos of their own, Gaskill and Pinnick were joined by guitarist Ty Tabor and the trio, then called Sneak Preview, relocated to Houston, Texas. Changing their name to King's X in 1987, they eventually signed with metal label Megaforce and released their debut, Out of the Silent Planet, a year later. A prog trio with a strong melodic bent and elaborate three-part harmonies, King's X have enjoyed a successful career with stints on Atlantic, Metal Blade, and InsideOut Music. Gaskill's contributions as drummer, writer, and occasional lead singer are an integral part of King's X's sound. Видеоклипы
One of the greatest bands of all time. I can’t even put in to words how much King’s X has influenced me, changed how I listen to music, and how I approach my instrument. All three members bring such a unique style and feel to their music that no one else comes close to. Thanks for showing Jerry some love! I saw them live in Toronto in April, and between every song the crowd kept chanting “JERRY JERRY JERRY JERRY” it was truly magical. What a special night.
I love how much King’s X fans show Jerry love! Their shows are incredible. I’ve seen King’s X a few times and every time it’s just magic!
Ditto sir!
Thanks for finally giving Jerry some attention.. He definitely deserves it
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
While we're talking underrated, we can talk about Ty Tabor as well.
1,000 percent. Ty is absolutely incredible!
I think some of his solos sound even better today than they did back in the 90's.
Tapehead is in my top three King's X albums. Nobody talks about that one. Add that one to the underrated category. Cool video !
Tapehead is fantastic! “Higher Than God” gives me chills every time. Thanks for the kind words!
Groove Machine into Fade is top-tier
@@RSchmidt720 fully agree!
Love Tapehead. Along with Ear Candy, my favourite KX album. So much groove.
Jerry is so fun to watch love! He’s dynamic.
Dynamic and his feel is unmatchable!
Jerry, Ty and Dug together as King’s X have always been one of my favorite bands and I’ve always thought they were underrated.
Fully agree! “The best band you’ve never heard” is how I describe them to friends who haven’t heard
Pleiades changed my life. Gretchen changed my life. I bought it when it came out and is still my favorite. I've seen them several times over the years and every show was memorable. Even got to meet them a couple of times. Good guys.
I’ve seen them a few times and remember every show. Just incredible 🤘😝🤘
Great take! Yess!!!
Thank you for watching! 🤘😄🤘
I so agree! JERRY IS OUT OF THIS WORLD❤
Out of this universe! 🤘😄🤘

Your favorite band and mine, too. Thanks for sharing the love!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Gaskill can bring the heaviness and the funk! Fantastic drummer. Six Broken Soldiers is one of my favorite KX songs. From what I've read and seen, a total gentleman too.
I’ve heard the same about Jerry. Apparently he’s a super great person. It’s funny you mention “Six Broken Soldiers” - someone right by me was screaming that in between every song. “PLAY SIX BROKEN SOLDIERS!” 🤣
I've been a King's X fan since 88'..ive seen and met them many times, always great guys,i told Jerry i practice his stuff a lot,it seems simple but his meter ,tastey fills and and style sets him apart,,,he said,i wish i practed more, which shows to me the way he plays is built in him,, incredible band that should have been much bigger! good video,Thanks!!
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! Someone recently described Jerry as “a very clever” drummer and I thought that was perfect. It’s simple at first but the complexity is just under the surface!
@@DruMarshallDrums clever is the perfect word for Mr. G!! 👍
One of the most underrated bands of all time.
Fully agree!
3:32 that is a really nice fill. It gets slower from start to finish (perfectly).
It’s just incredible. Jerry rules!!
Great vid 🎉🎉🎉🎉

100 agree! JERRY is also the most groovin rockdrummer of alltime ;) KingsX4ever
Thank you for watching! KingsX4infinity! 🤘😄🤘
Jerry! Jerry! Jerry !
The Jerry chants at shows are the best!
As a drummer myself, I agree with your assessment. Ive thought about Jerry's contribution to the King's X sound over the years. His vocals are a huge part as well. One thing NO ONE focuses on is his lyrics and songwriting. He's a genius on both accounts, putting him in a league of his own. Phil Collins and Neil Peart cant write lyrics like Jerry. I believe that's an underappreciated element of those first 4 albums. It added a mystery and sophistication that dUg and Ty couldn't bring in their own. What I find interesting about his drumming is the influence of Ty and dUg's drum machines. Listening to the demos, the drum parts were written by a nondrummer, so they have a rhythmic quirk to them and Jerry played them pretty note for note faithful. So, the drumming in King's X is kinda three people. Jerry is a machine and plays more solid live than anyone Ive ever seen. He's the full package and irreplaceable!
Very well said and I couldn’t agree more! I should have mentioned his singing + lyrics because that alone is something that separates him even more from other drummers. And good point about the drum machines - sometimes when a drum part is written by a non drummer it really adds a unique flavor because the drum part isn’t part of the same patterns that we’re accustomed to playing. Thanks for watching and for the commentary!
Jerry am awesums🐸
100% 🐸😎
Jerry is a fantastic drummer and you're not going to meet a nicer human being.
Completely agree!!
