Something cool about the lore created by Fromsoftware: Miyazaki himself references his childhood when he could not read english properly, but tried to read books anyway. He says that it captured his immagination and he had to fill the gaps. So he intentionally made his storytelling fractured to give the player the same feeling XD. I think this is genious!
Miyazaki is a misunderstood genius for sure. The poison swamps aren’t a form of sadism, it’s meant to represent the struggle he endured in the attempt to progress the stories he read. (I don’t know, I just made that up)
Spells and incantations as well as weapons have all sorts of gimicks: healing spells can cause damage to undead, poison darts can overdrive land squids, lorewise scarlet rot is purified by fire so any scarlet rot user is weak against it, Latenna lost her wolf and becomes a stationary summon ash but if there are wolves around she will mount them for mobility, crystal beings are rock hard but can be broken easily with hammers, etc
Cut content is something that was made in the proces of makeing a game but its missing from the release, some of this content can still be found in data of a game if it wasn't lost in previous versions, that's where they found this cut dialogue, weapon and more
Yes. Development is often not a straight forward process. Ideas get thrown out even after they are fully written, programmed and/or voiced. This happens for lots of reason. Just imagine it as the cutting in a movie, but it happens over the whole process of the development, which means you have cut content in multiple stages of "finishedness". Often it is easier to not remove it fully from the game, since you are never sure if you maybe later in development want to use it or it is just plain laziness (i.e. the easier to move it somewhere in the world were the player cant go instead of calling the programmer to remove it fully). The important thing is, you never know why something was cut. It might be because the story changed, but it might be for mundane reason that the gameplay did not work as intend, game got too long, or development time, or other.
Oh! Its important to note that Miquella is continuously referenced as a sort of child genius, or intelligent at least. We can see this through the many items and spells he has created, and the fact that he researched a shit ton to find a cure for both Malenia and himself. Morgott calls Malenia and Miquella “the Twin Prodigies” (plural!) likely referencing Malenias skill with the sword, and we can at least guess Miquellas skill with the mind. Gowry (the npc that vaati showed at 21:02) calls the person who created the Unalloyed gold needles (miquella) a “true artisan” and a “meticulous, bold craftsman who grasps the essence of life”, so he’s clearly very skilled in his work. With this in mind id say he likely had the same mental age as his twin sister malenia, but stuck in a childs body. Which would make sense why he would try to “rebirth” himself, in a sense, in a cocoon, to cure himself of eternal childhood. The reason i’m pointing this out is because i think it’s a very important detail to his character, and lets you get a more “clear” view of who he might have been, in a way? Though, i could be wrong and he Is just a really smart child. Only the dlc can tell, if hes in it 😅. Anyway, i loved this video 💚!! Thank you! And thank you if you read all of this infodumping 😭
Oh! Another thing to note, about the eclipse ritual, something I’ve been thinking about a lot is the fact that Radahn…. Froze the stars, or held the stars back. It could be the reason the ritual failed, due to the “protective star of soulless demigods” being frozen or held back. As we know, him doing so froze ranni’s and the carian royals fates as well. We don’t really get a clear timeline of when the ritual took place or when radahn conquered the stars though, so this is all just speculation on my part. It’s also what i theorize might be why malenia went to war with radahn in the first place, as we are told time and time again malenia fights For miquella, not herself. (Though, it could be that radahn accidentally froze miquellas fate as well, and THAT is why, but nothing confirmed) Again, this is just my personal thoughts, i just wanted to share them! If anyone has any thoughts on this please share them with me! It would be very interesting to hear everyones thoughts on it. (Also if any radahn fans think im shitting on radahn, im not! I love the guy hes very cool dw)

Miquella seems to be rebirthing people at the Haligtree. If you go there and look around you can see all these silk cocoons, just liek that of a silk moth, just like the one Miquella himself is inside of. This clearly signals some kind of rebirth and metamorphosis. Perhaps all these outcasts are gathering at the Haligtree in order to be reborn as something pure? That makes sense considering that Miquella is the unalloyed, he's all about the pure gold, so maybe all these "tarnished metals" are gathering to be purified. Thats why the misbegotten are there, they want to become something pure, and the Albinaurics whos legs don't even work anymore, they want to be reborn as something viable. All the broken creatures go to the Haligtree and then enter these silk cocoons, so surely they were meant to be reborn as something unalloyed. But that was all halted by Mohg, so now they're just sitting there inside the silk cocoons while the scarlet rot runs freely around them.
@@beckachuu Nothing outrights states it, it is just based on the albinaurics we can see inside of those silk cocoons, some of them are omly half-formed so we can see them kneeling in there. Mythological symbolism infers the metamorphosis theory since that is what a silk moths cocoon represents culturally, especially in Japan.
35:52 Just a note... Miquella's no child in essence... He was born cursed with eternal youth, always looking like a child and having child-like vibes of being loving and likable, but being Malenia's twin, he's the same age as her, and as Malenia herself implies, he is very wise. So yeah, we probably can trust that he knows about the eclipse ritual and how it could save Godwyn!

@@beckachuu Btw, forgot to tell you yesterday about the endings. If you wanna do a good-alignment playthrough, DO NOT DO a frenzied flame ending. Yeah, that may be a some kind of a release for a certain someone, but you're just gonna destroy the whole world for the sake of chaos. And Melina will be disappointed in you and leave you too. I do not consider any of these as spoilers because you will be told of the consequences kinda in the middle of the questline. And that needle of Miquella? It's the last chance for you to go away from the evil path if you decided to change your mind right before the ending. Buuuut Melina won't come back anyway... Other than 4 rune mend endings, Ranni's ending and Frenzied flame ending, there's no more of these. Maybe we'll get a new one with the DLC, cuz, you know, FROM really likes to leave the sweetest content for the DLC these days, so who knows what's gonna happen
In one of the sites of grace where Melina speaks to you about Marika's spoken echoes, she quotes the queen as saying, "O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order. Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god. Let us be shattered, both. Mine other self." My guess is that there was a point when Radagon and Marika were separate beings, who were only brought together after Marika shattered the Elden Ring to break the Golden Order. We can see her literally be crucified and imprisoned in the Erdtree for that, and we can assume from several bits of dialogue in the Roundtable Hold that it's the Greater Will that punished her for it. Radagon on the other hand, despite his loyalty to the Golden Order, shared Marika's punishment, so they were bound into the single, crumbling body you see at the end of the game. All that said, the timeline for when the statue was made in Leyndell is a bit unclear. If it was commissioned and made during Radagon and Marika's marriage and the sculptor discovered that they were the same person, then that means they were already one being before the Shattering. If it was commissioned and made after, that's strange, too, because that presupposes that Radagon can come in and out of Marika's body freely to be out here commissioning artwork to display in a halfway dilapidated city full of zombies.
I apologize, I already left a long comment and now I'm adding to it lol. But I realized that I had made a mistake after reading into more of Marika's quotes and some item descriptions. Marika and Radagon weren't bound as one being AFTER the Shattering, or because of some punishment by the Greater Will. Them being one being was Marika's intention, so they could've already been in the process of that when the sculptor found out their secret and incorporated it in the statue at Leyndell. There's no plot hole after all lol. The dialogue regarding the Greater Will was how it abandoned the lords and the Lands Between, nothing said implied that Radagon and Marika being conjoined was their doing, but it certainly was responsible for trapping Radagon/Marika in the Erdtree after they were already one, and it's in there that Radagon tried to mend the Elden Ring that Marika shattered.
Vaati's video: "the lore of Elden Ring is rotten" is all about Malenia, and is a pretty good follow up to this one, as obviously Malenia and Miquella's characters are so intertwined. Might be a good watch since you seem to really enjoy the twin's story. It's also not related to any ending so there are no spoilers about the other endings in it. :)
So "cut content" refers to (as the name implies) content that was cut from the final version of the game, but can still be found within the game's files for people who know what to look for. Content can be cut from the final version of a game for all sorts of reasons and at all levels of completion, sometimes entire fleshed out characters with full questlines and fully voice acted are cut from the game, other times it's items, or areas, or anything else you could imagine. Oh and another little clarification that I think is important about Miquella, is that Miquella's eternal youth, is not synonymous with him being a child, at least not mentally, he is only a child physically and in appearance, but he is just as old as Malenia at least so when we think about what he does and all his plans and such, he's just as capable and intelligent as any and all of the other demigods, and certainly by some people's estimations and his sheer amount of accomplishments, he truly might be "the most fearsome empyrean of them all" as Malenia says ;)
I've never seen someone soo hard headed that still don't get things even when they just told you... Nacesnt = potential, Youth, newly born... but its an afliction, Miquella and Malenia are TWINS! and both aflicted by similar but oposed curses, eternal Yought and Eternal Rot respectively.
I would absolutely recommend playing a Mage-focused build in Elden Ring for a second playthru! And you could also focus on doing NPC side-quests. That will teach you a lot more lore, like the guy sitting in the wooden house talking about the needle, THAT'S a really long and involved side-quest! And you could still get the good SEO by giving the streams a title like: "my first time playing Elden Ring... as a mage" sort of thing. Any plans to upload full streams to RUclips? Since Twitch VODs expire after a couple of weeks.
That’s a good idea, thank you! Especially cause I’ve only ever done Dex builds and no magic at all. I’m working on a way to find the time to upload my VODs and other content. Gonna start uploading my Dark Souls VODs this week!
Maybe one of the funniest things in these videos is the common occurrence of assuming real in-game content to be cut content (earlier videos, earlier this vid iirc - Fortissax; "This can't be in the game, surely?") and assuming fan art and Unreal Engine fan-made areas as something that is actually located in the game (St. Trina area; "Where is that?") I'm not trying to diss, I genuinely think this is amusing, to see a beginner's first foray into FromSoft lore. For most hardcore fans (which I do not wish to present as "better" than newbies, in the same way a professional chef should not feel better than a line cook - one is yet to achieve their full potential, no?), we all have our own theories. I, for one, have lately gotten quite obsessed with Goldmask and find it interesting how many themes Goldmask shares with Miquella - namely, I believe the main idea of Goldmask's "Perfect Order" draws both from Miquella's idea of inclusivity, as well as *Ranni's* idea of *protecting* the Elden Ring from people who would misuse it. The reason Goldmask is murdered, after all, (or what the community largely agrees is the case) is because his ideas are "heretical"; people like Corhyn and, say, D if he were involved - they're *fanatics* , mad dogs who blindly believe that the current state of the Golden Order already *is* perfect and to suggest otherwise is heresy that they cannot stomach. Yet... If the Golden Order is perfect, why does it allow "imperfections"? Why are Those Who Live In Death allowed to exist at all, only being hunted by a small sect of people who we only know two, potentially three members of? Why do the Misbegotten and Omen still exist if they are impure and cursed? If the Golden Order and the Erdtree are so perfect already... Why can we burn it all to the ground? And with it, if we follow the Frenzy Flame ending, *the whole world?*
I'm sure someone said it already, but the whole deal with the un-alloyed metal is that the purity of the metal blocks the connection of the outer gods to the lands between. In a way, greatly slowing down the spread of the scarlet rot inside Malenia's body. But of course, because we killed Melania and helped her bloom, we helped the scarlet rot in it's goal to make Melania the god of scarlet rot. So yeah, big L to us and Melania.
I feel like we have seen Miquellas dream... it was/is Bloodborne. The gathering of blood by the Church, Choir, and Hunters was the final moments of Yharnam under Mohg's influence, afterwhich he reincarnated himself and was promptly defeated by our tarnished warrior. *edit - and just to add, Melenias dream is Sekiro where she hunts those who kidnapped the divine heir in a rotting world (like Miquella), and Marikas dream is Dark Souls where the world has become engulfed in flames (like Melina and the erdtree). Elden Ring is heavily inspired by Norse mythology, which tells of Demigods dreaming of the futures of the universes. And these universes are all meta-physically connected via the great tree Yggdrasil, or Elden Rings Erdtree And if I had to guess what Miquella would be up to in Bloodborne, it would be directing Mohgs blood worship into a scientific endeavor to cure the rot of an opposing Outer God and his sisters blood disease. Hence the universe of Yharnams propensity for acadamia and medical study (as well as nightmarish wolves, Miquellas favorite animal; and a similarily named scholar-turned-fanatic like Micolash who made it to the upper echelons of the Choir in search of the gods)
This is all just baseless theory crafting that sounds cool in concept but would be insanely stupid, there is no point in connecting all of the games, stop trying and allow for them to be separate with their own great lore
that was indeed a different ending and i'd suggest watching vaatis prepare to cry dealing with the lord of frenzied flame to have a deep understanding of it
great, goosebumps. I just had a brainwave: Miquella wants to use the ritual of the solar eclipse to restore his brother's soulless body. Unfortunately, the ritual never works because there was never a solar eclipse. The stars stand still due to Radahn's power of gravity. With Radahn's death, the stars resumed their cycle. I've always wondered why the basic requirement for entering the DLC is that both Mogh and Radahn must be defeated. I'm telling you there will be a solar eclipse in the upcoming DLC and than shit becomes real. Godwyn the Golden will be awaken... or rather that what is left of him, which is nothing less than the Prince of Death. 😰
Just saying but Miquella being with the "Mother of Truth" ummm when I think about it we killed literally everyone in his family I believe if he's in the DLC well haha he's not gonna be happy with us especially well depending on what the DLC is and when it's placed in game oh boy I have a feeling we might see their "Shadow bound beasts" (where are they) or even a Scarlet Valkyrie but maybe Unalloyed Valkyrie 😮
There's 6 endings currently (DLC might add more). No Miquella ending yet sadly. The basic ending, where you change absolutely nothing. Duskborne, where you help Fia save the undead from persecution. Despair, where you help Dung Eater curse all life to become Omen and Misbegotten. Golden Ending, where you help Goldmask basically make it so neither human or gods can ever change the world again. Age of Stars, help Ranni create a whole new order then leave forever with her. Aaaand Lord of Frenzy, be a dick and help Shabriri set the world on fire.
There are 6 endings to this game and based on how many times you've said "idk what or who this is "i think you need to do another few playthroughs. the only game in the series that isn't like that is sekiro
@@beckachuu oh yeah. Now that you've gotten a feel for it should take like half the time. Almost every playthrough I found new content, can't wait for the dlc
14:17 This is the only reason i hate ranni, on a surface level she is good character yet she conspired in the killing of Godwyn, and helped in the killing of Radahn( who's mindlessly fighting with clelestial bodies to save selia town)
So to comment on your reaction to the statue being flat chested, he stated in the video that they looked at the "Statue Asset". Meaning they went into the game files, pulled the 3D model of said statue, and looked at it up close to confirm that the statue was flat chested. This also means that if the three statues are separate assets, that means you can look at them each individually. I assume they looked at the models through using tools like blender, a free 3D animation tool (Though if someone actually knows feel free to correct).

DLC had been announced, and it appears that more Miquella lore is coming soon.
I do recommend berserk as well I always get excited when someone mentions it in fromsoft games
@@beckachuu Oooh, I look forward to that!
Miquellia was also one of the strongest military leaders in the lands between
Maybe one of the funniest things in these videos is the common occurrence of assuming real in-game content to be cut content (earlier videos, earlier this vid iirc - Fortissax; "This can't be in the game, surely?") and assuming fan art and Unreal Engine fan-made areas as something that is actually located in the game (St. Trina area; "Where is that?")
I'm not trying to diss, I genuinely think this is amusing, to see a beginner's first foray into FromSoft lore.
And these universes are all meta-physically connected via the great tree Yggdrasil, or Elden Rings Erdtree
And if I had to guess what Miquella would be up to in Bloodborne, it would be directing Mohgs blood worship into a scientific endeavor to cure the rot of an opposing Outer God and his sisters blood disease.
@@Mr_Peem i can do whatever i want. I'm having fun, fuck off
that was indeed a different ending and i'd suggest watching vaatis prepare to cry dealing with the lord of frenzied flame to have a deep understanding of it
I’m probably gonna play it first before I watch the video!
@@beckachuu even better.
great, goosebumps. 😰
20:30
Yes it was a different ending there's a couple with their own quest, characters and tears to shed ^^
I really have to replay the game
This was good to watch again after the DLC
hey cool elden ring fact idk if you knew this but Melania is definitely the blade of Miquella
No way, I had no idea!
From Software generally makes use of cut content in their DLCs as well.
Beckachuu... The womb is exactly where the hole is. A pregnant woman's belly swells up, which is what the image is supposed to evoke...
What would be the fun in being friends with everyone am I right
@@beckachuu I'm sure the ones who don't like him would get The bewitching branch thrown at them lol they'll love him one way or another 😂
When blood borne
After dark souls 1-3 probably
I’m definitely gonna do more playthroughs! Hopefully they won’t take me as long now that I’ve fought most of the bosses haha
Oooo that makes sense, I must’ve missed that, my bad
