I just made "half batch". I must disagree that all you need is 1. Seriously, I ate every piece in 2 days. Didnt share with anyone. Lol loved it. Was so good. Going to make it again tomorrow. This time I will share.

I know everyone always says to put hot syrup over cold baklava, but I swear by Greek family's method, which is to put hot syrup over warm baklava.
This method consistently produces crisp baklava.
I start making the syrup as soon as the baklava comes out of the oven.
I make a simple syrup using 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water and a little lemon juice to cut the sweetness. I add some vanilla at the end. Cook the syrup until it's slightly thickened, then pour over the still-warm baklava.
I find adding honey to the syrup makes the finished product too sweet--just a personal taste preference.
    Love your videos, Dimitra!

I always make my syrup the night before as well as prep my walnuts. It makes everything come together much easier the next day.

wow. That looks incredible ! Thanx, even though I think my sugar spiked just watching this. I love baklava but have never tried figuring it was too involved. This looks like a perfect alternative option.

+D.L. Sosnik Haha! I know, this is a rich dessert. One little pinwheel is enough. Everything in moderation, right? Give it a try :)

I LOVE your channel Dimitria - thank you for teaching us! I've made a few of your filo dishes very successfully and follow the cold syrup, hot baklava rule, but the bottoms of my pinwheels ended up quite soggy (the tops were still lovely and crisp)... too much syrup? too much butter? I didn't quite have a full box of filo so I proportioned the other ingredients down too....

well done, Dimitra! from Mixale. I think that this method would transfer well to making spanakopita pinwheels. I make pita and cut them into small slices but many people from MN, here, do not like spinach and the piece is wasted. Can you try it with spinach? : )

BAKLAVA is a Turkish dessert. It's not nice to introduce you as a Greek dessert. Moreover, the Turks do not call this dessert Baklava, but BURMA.

    • @DimitrasDishes

The Greeks call it Saragli and since I’m Greek that’s what I will stick to. We share many recipes because we live in the same region.. isn’t that great? 🤗

@@DimitrasDishes Thank you for your answer. However, IMAM BAILDI(fainted),HÜNKARI BEENDI(liked), SARAGLI (saraylı)...Are those words Greek?

@@yakupkeser9672 The Turkish kitchen comes from the Byzantine Greeks, the Turks then changed the names of the dishes to Turkish when they conquered Byzantium. The Turkish confectionery comes from the Arabs, Baklava is a Syrian specialty, not Turkish, and comes from the city of Gaziantep, which was Arabic at the time
