6-F's, one more F should be there, shaan and Kaylee,
Forcing it, Forcing the Recovery/healing, willingness to experience the symptoms is key to recovery. No. 1. Forcing = refuse to accept it.

    Avoiding the five F's:
Fighting- Impulsive fighting it, going against it
Fixing- trying to fix it, find ways to fix it, coping mechanisms, the fixing is keeping it alive
Fear-all the "what happens if " thoughts, understand the mechanics of anxiety
Frustrated- putting in effort and not getting results, your reality doesn't match your expectations.
Focusing- any time you focus on something it grows, your reality is based on what you're focused on, hyper focused on it, it grows and gets more and grows.

Hardest is not to focus on the symptoms when your whole body is screeming in terror. It's like trying to ignore a migraine headache. I still can't understand how you cannot focus on something so painful.

Thanks Shaan. I think you may have saved what's left of my life, haha. Seriously,I got a LOT from this vid. For me,as a longtime student/practitioner of archery.... it's "target panic". The more you focus, and try to "fix" it,usually the worse it gets.
Another, for archers using sights is "pin float". Same old, same old... the more you fear it,the worse it gets.
A little anxiety(pin float) is part of life.... it's OK.

I feel like the more I recover the more I experience the things Im afraid of which is good and bad. I am able to see what im scared of up close without responding In fear and its great...except one of the things I had to face was an aura migraine. I woke up it appeared and there was zero fear. I watched the aura and then took note of how I felt after which was light eye pain light headache for about two hours and sound hurt my ears. I felt like a champ, I felt powerful. The next day I woke up and again another aura. So I sat and watched it like before, grateful that both times it happened I wasn't driving. Then after this aura left my whole head hurt, I felt like I was going to throw up with every movement I made. My eyes felt like someone was stabbing me and my brain was being pulled out of the sockets. I had to lay down. I wanted to cry but knew it would be way too painful. I even took a pain killer and it didn't help me at all.I was shaking from the pain. It last me about 2 hours before it went away. I was totally drained. Did some research and found out of course migraines don't really have cause and they can be way worse than what I experienced...so now im a little scared of that. Im scared of the pain, having no way to fix it. Scared that ill be out somewhere driving and get one. One it blinds you and then the horrible pain after. Basically the whole day is done with once it happens. How do I stop being afraid of something that isn't anxiety?

It took 4 Urologist and the head of urology to pass me to infectious disease and 1.5years to figure out why I had a bladder infection that wouldn't go away, and it ended up being one little kidney stone. No one cared enough to take the time to figure things out. Sometimes google is more reliable.

Understanding something intellectually is not the same as applying it. I feel like acceptance based therapies should be a step 2 or 3 treatment for people who are more stable. When you're at your worst, it feels completely impossible to muster the self-control and discipline necessary for real acceptance. It's simple to say for some guru but it is incredibly hard to actually put into practice. Accepting and allowing severe anxiety is akin to accepting and allowing psychological torture, which it basically is. On top of that, Shaan also seems to saying to not use any acute tools like yoga, meditation etc. which makes it even harder. True acceptance always sounds like an impossibly high expectation to me. The frustration doesn't come from lack of understanding, it comes from not having it in oneself to do it at this time. And no one gives good advice on HOW to apply these principles.

@@jixer1956its easy you sound like u are trying to hard and have zero patience, let me make it easy for you, move on and live life with it, if symptoms arise then let them and understand that if u avoid them in any way they will feel worse but if you let them in short term they will feel easier but with long term they will go away. Also remember that you are in control so stop saying “people who are more stable” its your choice to live in fear believe it or not, almost all anxiety sufferers who recovered lived the same as u diffirence is they moved on with life despite the scary feelings and thoughts, its your choice no one elses, imma end by saying learn the anxiety mechanics and live life. Tackle the thought in the same way you got through the rest of your anxiety issues. Usually when I get anxious thoughts, I begin to experience feelings of doom, I feel nauseous and tense. Also, I get this reaction of wanting to fight or flight. I've been trying to practice to accept the feelings and emotions, however, I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. So far, when I try going out to the store, for example, when I'm in the car on the way there, whenever I catch myself with that feeling that I suppose is the fight or flight feeling, I was trying to remind myself to accept it and ride along with the feeling instead of fearing it or cry about it. Also, I kind of "meditate" on the emotion by just observing it instead of meditating on the thoughts. Would you say that I'm dealing with this correctly, or am I still misinterpreting what acceptance really is? Thanks!

I've heard that is actually a good sign in recovery because your body has been using so much cortisol for so long that, when you don't have as much of it anymore, you get like a crash from it. Similar to a sugar crash. Just recognize that it's a by product of recovery and don't worry about it too much. Shaan has a great video that explains it and likens the effect to a pendulum swinging in the opposite direction.

This seems like an insanely high expectation because to not do any of the 5 Fs would require a ridiculous level of self-control and mental discipline in the face of what is basically psychological torture. I feel like you'd have to basically be some sort of monk in order to master this. And every guru makes it seem like acceptance has to be all or nothing and that you can't get there in smaller steps.
