I just discovered this channel yesterday. I don't know why RUclips didn't show me before! I think their recommendation algorithm was kind of lame for most of 2020, but they're starting to branch me out to other channels again. Thank God. In any case, I am so, so happy that I have 3,000,000 of these videos or whatever to sit through and appreciate as I eat lunch every day. Thank you for the TRULY EXCELLENT channel and art. It is so jaw-droppingly inspiring. I started doing something similar each morning now because of this. Thank you so much.
Thank you guys for all the work you've done and continue to do. I'm pretty sure I've learned more about painting from this chanel than I did taking classes, always look forward to your videos!
I loved the grey discussion today and your humorous explanation of your fear of saturated colors. I live in Northern Michigan USA where everyone is kind of mushroom colored most of the year due to lack of sunlight so I get your references to very white skin and sun. You have found the perfect solution to your love of greys and how you can add some saturated colors to your favorite raw umber! Looking forward to the rest of the week of grey.👏🏻
I like english plein air painters partly for that reason, very grey! I enjoy seeing mundane day to day things i recognise from my life captured in paint.
Dude this is the video I’ve needed for so long. I have struggled for months with not knowing how I can achieve the general neutral vibe I see in my reference. I’ve been thinking to myself, I want this magic non-colour that I can squeeze out into a big pile, and then adjust it a small amount with my pure colours. And there you go, exactly how I imagined it!
I love raw umber for stomping on colors for a portrait pallet, now you've got me thinking about doing the same thing for plien air painting. Beautiful, harmonious painting. Thanks!!
“I was trying to understand myself as someone who could have this aspect of color, this condition of color, this characteristic that’s intrinsic of color, which is saturation, become part of my life and part of my language.” (6:34)❤️❤️❤️
I miss the grayness, here in Southern CA. It's a great day when the sky isn't that boring solid blue. While I reach for the bright colors - I have trouble using them. It could be it's time to explore more "gray". Thank you for your perspectives.
I've seen your incredible work before on Instagram, but I just found this RUclips channel by chance. I wish I found it sooner. I'm really looking forward to watching these and learning from you because you're an amazing artist. About the sun and getting sunburns. One thing that I have found that seems to help is to vigorously rub my skin that's exposed to the sun rays. Maybe it's just my imagination but it seems like it helps. I haven't gotten a sunburn in years, and I used to a lot. It seems like the sunlight is literally cooking the skin, and stirring the skin around seems to help dissipate the heat and UV rays from overcooking the surface of the skin and burning it. Rubbing the skin around nice and strong seems to even out the heat, and I seem to tan instead of burn now. Of course this isn't scientifically proven but I swear it seems to work, haha. Give it a try, it might help. Talk to you later, take care.
I love the zorn pallette so I can relate. For me I think I'm more partial to the way light and shadow plays on the form. There was a time when the church had Vatican approved colors . All the painters had to respect this because the commissions mattered Back then. So I guess I saw something in that work of grissialles that allowed me to appreciate the play of light and shadow. Another great video brother , and that's what I like about your work as well , our painted lives.
Me encantan tus reflexiones y tb tus obras.
much better than hearing your psychological experience with color... would have been to see the model that you were painting from... then we could see what you were doing and why.
Gracias Nicolás exelente como siempre. Saludos desde Bucaramanga
Great theme... !! Perfect solution for earth colors e neutral ones..🎨🎨🎨

Your art is amazing and your videos are both informative and inspiring! May I ask what paper/surface you use for these studies?
Hello , i laughed with your talk . Thank you !!! 😅
Which paper do you use ?
I mean not the mark , the type. Is that paper?
colour is the Devil's harlot sent to seduce the classical heart ;-)
