Guard counters are extremely strong and are tied to one of the strongest/easiest PvE builds in the game right now. Throw on the best armor you can, the best greatshield you can with the greatshield talisman and you've removed the need to roll for pretty much 99% of combat. And there's a ton more you can do to actually optimize it. Also to add more to the Blacksteel Greathammer, the following AoE after a guard counter does extra poise damage. So the weapon is very strong for that playstyle.

12:46 Quality Knight here, there are two true combos baked into the KGS. Jumping R1 into R1 - You will need to aim a bit to the right on the jump attack so that it connects layers enough to be able to vortex the enemy. First R1 into Second R1 - When you land your first R1 look to the left at an almost right angle to your enemy. This will allow the beginning of your attack to hit your enemy while they are still stunned. You can also combine these two true combos into one three hit true combo using the principles discussed above -> Jumping R1 into R1 into second R1 Have fun yall
This is what stood out to me. It’s higher than the fire knights great sword on most tier lists I see. Surprised to see it so low.

It's r1 are surprisingly slow, and it's r2s on the other hand locks you in animation for quite long. Non existent hitstun on any move is not helping either. It's great weapon, but it actually requires moc more effort to use effectively, compared to lot of other weapons.
I mean, in a vacuum maybe, I haven't run the numbers, but it's fluidity between moves and speed makes it very different. Sword dance is clunky and very hard to redirect once you get started. You just kind of hope for a bunch of hits. Unsheath is finesseless. Go for the slap and back up and wait for another slap. You can play Milady the same way, just back up, jump in, back up, but that's playing it wrong. You want to wind between the attacks. It's great, and can be infused 3 or 4 different ways very productively.
I was a rykard themed soldier with some rot thrown in (like a serpent elvoving to a dragon) pre dlc and upgraded to a mesmer soldier post dlc I found all 3 of the funny fire weapons and was so surprised at how they functioned since weapons like that are few and far between in the base game The dagger Collosal greatsword And the "greatsword"(heavy thrusting spear) are some of my favorite weapons to swap to if bleed or poison isnt a good fit
The Black steel hammer is really low. It's parry does insane poise damage. And you can add the crag blade and the physick to make it crazier. Since it gets innate holy damage you can also add orders armament and shared order to buff it's holy damage to a ridiculous amount. Enough holy damage to compete against bosses with 40% holy reduction. It really shines with the delfect tear, I was doing 8k combos against malenia with it. Imo it's top 10
Yeah the Blacksteel Greathammer is honestly a sleeper IMO with what all you can do. Its an awesome flexible greathammer but also works very well with guard counter builds as well.
I did ng+ with it Flame art infusion with 80 faith and 60 strength Alternated between deflect tear and poise breaking tear 1020 AR Beat all bosses with a max of 3 tries (rykard because I'm a stubborn pos) The guard counters are cracked
Black Steel Twinblades and Black Steel Greathammer get WAAAAY more AR if you Scared infuse them. They work the same as the Fire Knight Weapons with Flame Art infusion. Greathammer i reccomend Prayerful Strike for amazing survivability

Shoutout to the Carian dueling shield. I hadn't used shields for 1.75 playthroughs and that shield converted me and helped met get through the Fissure.

Backhand blades are s or s+ IMO. You infuse both of them at the same time. Instead of going for bleed affinity, you just put bloodflame or even blackflame on higher ng+ runs on them and u just destroy everything

Sacred blacksteel hammer, faith, prayerful strike with deflect tear. I found the deflect window generous. Great in pve. Break posture, guard counters crush, ash does good damage + heals you + does good stance damage.

And it deals as much damage without buffs as fire knight's GS with golden vow and flame grant me strength combined (for some reason). And 60 guard boost to put this deflect tear to good use😁

You are underselling Giant crusher. With the deflecting tear it might be one of the strongest combos in the game providing incredible survivability, damage and poise break potential. To clarify Giant crusher is both a shield and an insanely strong weapon so you can both block and attack with it. For aow use Cragblade, Braggart's Roar or Prayerful Strike because Knight's Resolve is way too much of a hassle. Also one notable missing item is star fist - it has good damage and bleed and one of the best charged attacks, only around a second for a full charge. Stance dps is so good you can bully even those annoying ass wickermen. The only downside - it has pathetic range so not new player friendly at all, but still worthy at least top 15.
Giant Crusher I think I did undersell, I wasn't very objective looking bad. But paired weapons I kinda considered as powerstance which wasn't a good idea looking back
Starfist I haven't used yet, but I also wasn't sure if paired weapons should fall under powerstance. Otherwise I would have used it. As for the bloodfiends arm, bro I could have sworn it was somber 😭

I just wanted to clarify some things and give a few notes about some of the weapons: #18, Black Steel great hammer is the highest damage great hammer in the game. However, its range sucks. Great Mace gets like 75 less AR, but it's much longer. And the boosted guard counters of black steel do 45 stance damage, however, I have heard the follow up trail does like 15 stance damage. And many enemies will just walk out of the follow up trail. So they end up doing less stance damage then normal great hammers, which do 39 for guard counters. #17, It is called My Lady. Just another old English pronunciation. George RR Martin even jokes in his books that people who call it Muh Lady are peasants. #14, the knight's greatsword's "faster" moveset come out in 17 frames, and normal greatswords come out in 16 frames. So the normal move set is actually faster. I looked at this using the frame data calculator. #13, STOP WITH THE PIERCE DAMAGE. OMG I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANY MORE. Most bosses have like 10 active counter frames. This means you have such a small window to get this extra damage, that it doesn't even matter. In weapon classes that all have pierce damage, it is nice to mention, but for most weapons classes the highest damage option is almost NEVER the special one with pierce damage. BUT, you just so happened to pick the one weapon that actually is the exception. Rusted anchor has very similar damage to the Executioners great axe, and the range difference isn't huge. SO yeah, you can use rusted anchor or Executioners pretty interchangeably. I just wanted to complain for no reason. #12, EH-P-EH. Says the "EH"s like a true Canadian. #11, Flamberge is awesome. Occult infuse and charged heavy your way through everything. Only problem is most infusable greatswords are just out competed in raw damage by the Iron greatsword by a HUGE margin on every infusion, and stance damage by the Alabasters sword, which for some reason, gets colossal sword levels of stance damage and the lowest stamina cost charged R2's of any great sword. #7, cool fact. Guardian Sword spear gets a true combo of jump R2 into R1. But only when 1 handed, which is kinda useless now, because of 2 handed sword talisman's damage buff being so beneficial. #6, Great Stars is good. However, Great Mace is just better if you aren't getting bleed procs frequently. #3, If you find Naginata's light attacks too slow, try the swift spear. Is very good. Love the video. Hope this helps anyone searching the comments section.
@@seanysalami In a challenge I saw CBD giving him the piercing fang, I think the default when you remove Gaius's gravity attack si te impaling thrust... With the piercing fang he did insane damage. I understand that it also performs exceptionally well in bleeding infussion.

#11, Flamberge is awesome. Occult infuse and charged heavy your way through everything. Only problem is most infusable greatswords are just out competed in raw damage by the Iron greatsword by a HUGE margin on every infusion, and stance damage by the Alabasters sword, which for some reason, gets colossal sword levels of stance damage and the lowest stamina cost charged R2's of any great sword.
#7, cool fact. Guardian Sword spear gets a true combo of jump R2 into R1. But only when 1 handed, which is kinda useless now, because of 2 handed sword talisman's damage buff being so beneficial.
#6, Great Stars is good. However, Great Mace is just better if you aren't getting bleed procs frequently.
#3, If you find Naginata's light attacks too slow, try the swift spear. Is very good.

@@seanysalami In a challenge I saw CBD giving him the piercing fang, I think the default when you remove Gaius's gravity attack si te impaling thrust... With the piercing fang he did insane damage. I understand that it also performs exceptionally well in bleeding infussion.
