Very calm and relaxing song. This performance was much better then the one in the semi final. I didnt expect them to win and they werent my favorites. But I think this song will definetly grow on me since its so beautiful and mysterious. Also please keep it in Icelandic. It will be magical to make international people hear Icelandic. They will keep it in icelandic since they only made an icelandic version and it would definetely be less charming if it'd be in english :) In the final of söngvakeppnin the singers have to choose between singing the icelandic or the english version (if they have one) of their song.

It's a song about hope. In Iceland days (where the sun is up) are very short during the winters and very long during the summer, this makes the winter hard to bear. But there is light at the end of the tunnel because at the peak of the misery, the day starts to grow longer as spring approaches. This is very relevant to the bad things happening as of late. It is a song to all who suffer, a reminder of good times after the bad, a reminder of hope.

I hope this will be kept in Icelandic for Eurovision. four of the top five songs last year are not in English (interestingly, the only English-language song is from Iceland, but that shouldn't stop them from keeping the song in native Icelandic).
This song will be in Icelandic. All the songs in our final were in the versions that would be kept that way in Eurovision.
I agree. I think it's mistaken for singers to choose to sing in English. Since the sad days when anybody can sing in any language many of the winners have in fact not sung in English. I much prefer for people to write and sing in their native language. Often they say they sing in English so more people can understand them. Well, as a native speaker of English I can say a lot of international music written and performed in English doesn't actually make much sense. I've heard songs using English words that seem almost like random words from the dictionary.
I heard a fascinating thing once said by some Icelandic teenagers who had made a band together. They said they prefered to sing in English because it didn't matter so much what they sang as people didn't pay so much attention. If they wrote in Icelandic, they said, people would listen and pay attention to the lyrics and they'd actually have to work harder on them and pay more attention.

it is astonishing that this year most songs are in the language of the particpating country and only few were writen by Swedish/Bulgarian composer teams.. this was making Eurovision songs so changeable over many years..
