Shoutout to Gustavo Moreno for requesting this one, and as always, thanks to all of you whom voted for this track in the Cover Battlegrounds =)!
I'm glad I had a lot of time to let this one sit in the back of my head. Originally I wasn't sure how I was going to handle this cover. So when I sat down to complete it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.
I added a new harmony part in the opening riff, but for the most part, I kept things pretty close to the original (just beefing up the guitars and drums).
Then of course there's the all-new guitar solo I made up for the later half of the song! Really loved playing that bit.
As for the video, I figured I would continue with what I've learned from doing the Alect Squadron cover. I recorded separate takes of the radio chatter, cockpit view, and "flycam" shots, all eight minutes each.
However, this time around, instead of jumping immediately into the song, I included the opening scene from the mission. I thought it'd be nice to build up the mood like that, and help give the start of the song a stronger impact.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy the video! Also, the next COVER BATTLEGROUNDS will start in a few days, so keep an eye out! ~DAR
