    Its "Chogān" in persian. In some regions "Chockān".
    Nice match thought ,but know the origins pls, this sport used to be traditional sport of Persia (Iran, Afghanistan) intill 16th century, since then only played by kings, thats why its called "kings sport" because the nomads stoped playing it.
    I see many nations like to claim it but the origins go back to 900bc Persia ,mongols only played it arround 800 years, thats not even comparable to Iran.
    This sport been brought to India at arround 1st century ad.
    Its not only a sport for horseback traning, its also a traning for the riders eyes, trains the to be greatest at keeping track of small units/targets in maximum vibration. In ancient times those the greaters horseback archers were actually greatest chogān players.

      the saddle pad is used not only to guard the saddle from rubbing against their coat, but as a cushion for when the ball does hit them. if you notice they are wearing leg wraps covering the area between their ‘ankle’ to knee. the leg wraps in the front are then covered by tendon boots and bell boots. this is to prevent an accidental swing to the leg by the mallet or if a ball makes contact with them. if a horse gets hit in the ribs, face, or any place on their body where the bone is more relevant, they are likely to get a bruise, fracture or even break (if the ball is going as fast as this video shows). yes, a horse may be used to getting hit with the ball ONLY IF it is going a certain slow speed. getting a hard clay ball being thrown at you and making contact at 100 miles per hour is not something one can get used to.

      @@BigDuke6ixx Hahaha... Quality over quantity. Because more people watch it does not make football a better sport than polo.
      Look how weak footballers act on TV. I've seen on rugby vs football comparison videos, footballers start to cry like babies just because another player just tapped them while not a single tear comes from polo players when they fall from their horse(6ft or 7ft.)
      There's a saying like this for nothing: "Rugby is a hooligan's sport that became a gentlemen's sport, football is a gentlemen's sport that became a hooligan's sport."
      Also polo is harder than football because a polo player have to control the horse and at the same time have to stay focus on the game and hit a tiny ball with the mallet while sitting on top of a moving horse.

      Where did you hear that from??? I have played for 45 years and the average cost of a reasonable polo pony for low goal polo is around £3-5k. The sport is a lot cheaper than most forms of motorsport, sailing or competitive skiing and is more fun than all of them combined!

    • @Desertfox18
      @Desertfox18 Год назад

      Don't be so jealous because you aren't as successful as them.
      They or their parents became rich by doing hardwork, money doesn't come to your hand by staring at sky like a timewaster.
      Also you don't watch European football, rugby, hockey or American football? This sport is more intense than those sports because you have to both control a horse and you have to stay focus on the ball. There's no huge fan base because most of the people are just jealous of rich people, I'm not rich but atleast I enjoy the game unlike those greedy people.
