I'm showing you guys how to take an old pair of pants, and turn them into a killer, drawstring dress... perfect for SUMMER!
This is a super simple pattern and super simple construction, making it ideal for beginner sewers.
This is actually one of the first dresses I made when I was learning.
The most ideal pants to work with are wide or straight leg. Skinny jeans will not be great of this because you have really limited fabric.
Stretch fabric is also ideal. It will make the pattern even more forgiving!
MATERIALS
1 Pair of pants
Fabric Scissors
Pins
Sewing Machine
Drawstring of some sort (ribbon, chain, shoelace, whatever!)
Honestly, you could make a burlap sack fashionable! I love it!
I love how you styled the second dress with the clear belt!
I Love these kind of videos. When you turn one piece of clothing Into another. I've been doing this thing where you rewire your brain to be happy by simply recalling 3 things you are Thankful for every day for 21 days. I'm on day 15. Today one of my 3 on the list was ... I am Thankful for Orly Shanis videos every Friday!! 😂😂 Hey, I really do look forward to them. So I'm telling the truth. 😊
Cute and simple dresses. But what I really want are the pants you started with!
I don't know how your brain works!! It's incredible how creative you are!!
What I love about u is u tell us dos n donts , which is rare on youtube plus video is so perfectly editted , voice over is so gud ... new bgm everytym , u really are a perfectionist!
wow thank you so much!!
Cool idea. I sometimes see these types of pants and kinda, sorta like the fabric/pattern - but not for pants. On a dress however...totally different animal 👍
Wow amazing results! You would never believed these dresses were once pants!
I love the rogue ketchup bottle. You’ve got little kids and they were “helping” you work. Great project, the fabric really makes the project. Gotta love that micro knit.
hahah is that what the fabric is called?? Micro knit!?
The DIY Designer that’s what it’s called in the fabric stores in Toronto, I’m pretty sure.
They came out very nice. Modeling the dresses really helps.
Most inspiring! I am thinking maybe just buy some fabric and make the dress from scratch!
So elegant and beautiful .....I love that you make everything so simple but the design is never compromised !
Love that chain idea as long as it doesn’t break 😆
FIRST!!! (always wanted to say this 😁) The chain neckline is my favorite. Thank you for sharing!
_77777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777 I have a question about this one in ⅞ a good sensei 7⁶for me to do
I’m amazed how can a person look fabulous in everything 😍
I love this style of "Fits Everywhere Touches Nowhere" dress for summer.
As a 10 year old (mum finally let me use her industrial machine) I made myself about half a dozen or so of these to wear as summer nighties. The best part is they don't need a lot of fabric - just double your length - and you can use whatever you have at hand...old mismatched summer/cotton sheets, lawn/poplin, percale voile, whatever...and they are quick to make, just run the side seams, finish the armholes (in one piece) and turn down the casing and your done! 10 minutes per piece - tops. Easy Peasy!!
If you want to get a little more adventurous with you sewing, you can add a sleeve (fitted or puffy w/ elastic cuff) with a continuation of the drawstring casing, or a cold shoulder finish...the possibilities are endless...depending on your fabric choice, this could be a year round style... :))
sorry, I did it again, off on a tangent... :]
GORGEOUS! I like both dresses but the second one with the chain is my fav...thanks for sharing😘
Hi Orly, I love your channel. Made the Wrap Pants for myself and my daughter and will be making lots more. Found your easy Drawingstring Joggers. Super - next thing for me to try. Tks. Claudia from South Africa
They turned out great. Love the second one more though. Also the belt that you used gave it that special look.
Or use two ribbons - one front, one back - and tie them over each shoulder.
Great idea!! Thank you for sharing! I love your short straight to the point videos!!
Happy Friday to you too! You so make Friday mornings fun!
Um the song that played during your model sesh was so awesome. So cute!! Love it!!!

chain makes it look special
Hi Shani.... I just subscribed your Channel 3 days ago. I love your DIY and am so inspired to recreate them. Usually i just watch DIYs and don't try to recreate but your motivated me to do and i recreated the one with jeans into skirt. I love your channel and you 🥰😘
You could have used the waistband as a gathered belt also! I love your fabric I would love to be able to get fabric or something like that at a yard sale or thrift shop 👏🏻👍🏻

Watching from Philippines ❤️
My mum brought me some stretchy pants like those when she went to Jerusalem & they were honestly the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. I was so sad when I caught them on something & shredded them.
Love it!. I want both the pants and the dresses! Thank you for sharing your creativity
Enjoyed this video. I used to have a clothing line too. I used to make this basic style of dress a lot. Super easy and flattering on most body types.
Thank you, lovely dress. I have pants just like yours. I cut the waist band off. Then put velcro on the ends, sewed up the seam of the waist, now I have a matching belt.
Great project.
WOW! Beautiful and loving the look and the belt made the dress stand out.
Now we can do this will off of our pants lol Love it

First video and I subbed, I've had an xxl pair of wide leg beach pants I was debating what to do with, now I know!
Hi I’m new to your channel. You have created some mind blowing hacks, they are very inspirational.
This gave me a great idea to try on this random one piece, wide leg jumpsuit I bought for a Halloween costume that I never made. The fabric is black and stretchy so I'm hoping to make a cute LBD with it and I LOVE the shape of the top!! some of my very favorite tops and dresses are made like this. Can't wait to try it. TFS
THAT CLEAR BELT!!!! PLEASE SHARE!
Love this one!
I love your little dress dance you always do at 10:42 lol 👗

I love love love these dresses! I have a few pairs of Palazzo pants I thrifted a while back and they're still in the bag in my stash pile! I never had any inspiration for them other than to wash and wear them but now I can make dresses! And I love the jeans dress idea! It may be time to do something like that with a pair of thrifted oversized men's jeans!

Your DIYS are so amazing! I watched your diy denim corset belt diy and it inspired me to make my own. I'd really appreciate it if you would take a look at it and tell me what you think 💗
I have an old grey maxi skirt I was gonna tie dye but when you said you could do this on a maci skirt I'm like 💡yes now ima make a dress . Tha is Orly for your creativity
Muy bonito y el resultado final nice!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍👍!
I never wear dresses or skirts, but I'd *LOVE* a pair of pants like that!
I too seldom wear dresses. I have to be able to get on the floor with kids. I would love the pants though!!! Do you have any old inventory!
@@penelopefp Hey, if Orly still has the pattern for the pants, the next time we're allowed out of the house we could shop for suitable fabric and make ourselves some comfy lounge pants :-)
@@purplealice I probably have some fabric stash I should dig out for practicing first. 🤪🤣
@@penelopefp Yeah, if it's been a while since you did any sewing, it's good to re-familiarize yourself with the process. I know I don't have any fabric like that. (Most of what I've got is old t-shirts and old pillowcases, for making face masks, according to Orly's video about those).
I love the second dress the clear belt and chain made it fancy
thanks!!
Te quedó muy lindo y funcional, tú idea fue brillante 👍👏 me gustó ☘⚘
Olrly- I so love these dresses! Stunning!

So many things to like about this one. The patterns are great! The chain was a super fun detail. The styling was on point. And I always love the way you say "crisp". Don't know why exactly, but I do :) Oh and the ketchup is the epitome of parents working from home. I'm so there with you!
hahah thank you for understanding :) my kids sprinkle little bombs for me all over the house
