I’d say Cap belongs in A tier at least. Some of the strongest characters want combo plays, meaning they eat multiple cards a turn. Captain America has a lot of strong single cards, so he plays well with someone greedy like Iron Man. What keeps him out of S tier is that his shield numbers don’t scale enough for the highest difficulties, unfortunately.
I agree, he is very solid at his role but struggles a little at the higher difficulties. I would've had him at A tier but for some reason the long speeches from Cap stood out more to me than any other character, even though other characters are less likeable at times lol. Only reason I dropped him down one
Higher difficulties really filter out the weaker characters due to how “hard” effects like CC or defensive tools that negate attacks remain valuable, while things that just reduce or block a quantity of damage fall off hard. Cap suffers due to that, while Nico has her problems and Scarlet Witch is too card greedy. Support Hunter and Strange are really the only two good supports at the highest difficulty. But then it’s hard to compete with just going infinite on Iron Man.
True, I found myself not switching characters out as much as I pushed into the ultimate difficulties. Considering all of that, it makes me feel like Strange should maybe be an S tier since he scales better than the other supports. Something I hadn't considered with the ranking
If you can put desirable mods on all cards(like quick, free) then a lot of the heroes become insanely OP, like clear map in one turn OP. I will put brief explanations with my tier list for base game, check out in depth guides for builds on yt. Hunter - Easy S because of versatility. Iron Man - S. Most independent hero and easily highest dps possible (even without his msuns card) Strange - S. Insane heroism generator and support. Witch - S. With free mod on marking cards you will never lose a card play. Cap America - S. Best Tank in the game. Even without mods. Nico - High A. Makes all heroics cost 0, generates duplicates of OP cards including her own msuns card that's insane. Just never use her random cards. Ghost Rider - High A. Hard to play optimally but if you do he can one shot any boss and has great aoe. Magik - A. Can deal really high damage and snowball once you roll free on the card that buffs her portals. Cap Marvel - A. Damage Can scale highest for her because binary. Blade - A. Great marking and damage. Just costs a lot of card plays to set up. Spider Man -Low A. His Msuns card is insane but he is a little map dependent. Wolverine - B. Hurts to put him so low because his msuns card is so damn good, but too squishy to tank and even dying once means you lose a star in the mission. Hulk - Worst character in base in game. Has no quick cards in base kit(have to mod quick). Mediocre cards. Only good card is msuns card. Needs very specific support heroes to work in high difficulty. You may disagree with tier placements but not the order.
Just started my playthrough of this and about 40 hours in. My list would end up being close to yours outside of a few things. Carol and Cap would be A for me. Nico is B long as you are not using her buff on anyone else. Least it removes the random at that point. as well then just dont use her debuffs xD. Everything else is pretty spot on. I think overall most people seem to have noticed what is strong in how this game works. Resist is the best thing out there, and is why I have Carol in A as she can give herself resist for i think 2 times. Being able to play multiple cards, so things like Quick/Marked are very good and is why Cap and Strange are soo good. I am also the sad and i think most people are that DP whole kit and cards just is hard to pull off and not much reward. Think Venom and DP have the kidna same idea just Venom is better.
Carol is a great tank - and you're absolutely right, I learned pretty quickly that Resist feels far and above to be the best buff to have. I could see her being A tier I personally just didn't use her as much as I expected I would at first. Venom and Deadpool is a good comparison in systems. Venom does do it MUCH better though. I wonder if Deadpool was an afterthought of that system
Deadpool can be really good but only if he is paired with specific teammates that can taunt enemies off of him such as Captain America and the best combination I have found for him so far is Deadpool, Iron Man, and Captain America
Cap should be A tier. I struggle finding him in any combination and not working excellently as the best Tank/Tank support in the game - especially since Resist doesn’t protect you from bosses, but Block does. Ghost Rider for me is a near S tier. Having Immolate+ in his deck, with two Lash+ for easy quick kills to always bring up soul drain & throw in the Hellfire card to boost his strength and get some hero points makes him the highest damage dealer in the entire game. I’ve cleared entire missions just using GR, because his ability to explode multiple enemies and create AoE’s from KO’s is outrageous. The rest I think make a lot of sense. It’s sad Deadpool is so weak in the game. Like why does he not have an active regen card like Wolverine? Also missing his own free revive card? Canonically his healing is better than Logan’s, but he’s so heavily nerfed in this game he’s abysmal unless he’s paired with a strong tank. Rip.
Cap is great, I only knocked him because his speeches personally stood out to me more and I'm not sure why lol. Ghost Rider I think just took me too long to figure out how to use - I really didn't try him too much until later on in the game. I agree about Deadpool, he should at LEAST have the free revive. I don't really understand the decisions and direction they took with him as far as his deck goes.
i love how everyone's tier lists are so different because it shows the game is pretty well-designed and each hero can work depending on how you play them...but i gotta say wolverine in S while hulk in C is a wild take. just worldbreaker alone is enough to put hulk in A tier and the rest of his kit isn't too bad either. seismic slam is a worldbreaker-lite and smash is great on higher difficulties thanks to it's stun. meanwhile wolverine needs a lot of work to maximise his potential. he theoretically has the highest dps in the game thanks to midnight special but the rest of his kit really needs the right card mods to work, and even then imo he i'd rather have ghost rider for single-target dps or iron man for crowd control and mark support.
Yeah, looking back at it world breaker alone is probably enough to put him in the B tier. I used wolverine heavily as soon as I got him, and took my time with the game so I had the mods and all of that fairly quickly. I probably should experiment more with the Green guy
By staking Portal damage with Magik's epic card, I can do 400 damage per attack on story missions that have two phases. And I'm not at the end of the game yet, my characters are level 15. I wouldn’t call that low damage 😉
Hulk is S with Worldbreaker. Single turn completed a mission on the hardest difficulty with just that after some insane set up. Tanky, heals, strong single target with stuns. What’s not to like? I assume you just wen’t a fan of the rage system.
@@GridCommander I’ll admit S is maybe a little bit a knee jerk reaction. High B-borderline A. You’re all good and very spot on with the almost all the rankings 👍
Played through this game recently. Agree with many of the rankings. Disagree with others, but think that it may have to do with difficulty level. Played on Ultimate lll and it definitely changes the utility of certain characters. Could definitely see how they may be effective on lower difficulties, but feel subpar on higher ones. Great video! Thanks for making it. 👍
Thank you for taking the time to comment! I started on normal and worked up to Ultimate II by endgame - it definitely changes things. Planning a NG+ on Ultimate III
Nico saved me a lot in the late game with the heals - honestly if her abilities weren't random she would probably be way overpowered. Magick is just fun to use - can't beat throwing everyone through portals and into things 😆
On which difficulty did you play the game? Because difficulty really change useability of characters? On hardest difficulty is Wolwerine worsest character with no damage and no tankiness. And Blade with Morbius are S tier because mechanism of generating a lot of bleed stacks and then consuming them all are strongest skills, able to destroy even oponents with 2 000 lifes or more.
Deadpool has nearly unmatched regeneration capabilities....and yet his gimmick is AVOIDING all damage? I love this game, but that was a disappointment. That said, I really did like his VA and writing.
I disagree with hulk, the way i have him set up is his challenging roar cards are both free, and with whoevers targeting you at the start, or even better if its the dogs that ALL turn their attention to you i get both challenging roar cards almost every time i play hulk, so with them both having free and getting to use it twice that maxes out his rage at the start of every fight, then its just finding seismic slam or even better worldbreaker and the ENTIRE FIELD just ceases to exist Easy S tier for me but with such a specific setup i think he is atleast deserving of an A
That is a very specific setup, but maxed out rage at the start is also very good. I haven't played around with him enough to figure that out, I'll have to give it a try! It definitely sounds like it brings him up to an A tier though
Full Rage Worldbreaker might be the best ultimate in the game. Played a number of missions where I should have lost and then Hulk decimates everything and everyone. Will have to try your build. 👍
You're the only channel I've seen give Logan an S tier, but those videos were a very long time ago.. Did he get buffed or something? Or was he just always good and unappreciated? Because I seen 2 channels give him a D tier..
I don't believe he got buffed - I've also heard a lot of hate for his character. I'm not really sure what the knock is, he's an offensive powerhouse that can heal himself and has a free revive if he goes down. What's not to like?
@@GridCommandera little late but i think the reason he gets so much hate is because, when you first unlock him,he plays more like a tank but his abillities and lower health don't help him much,he only gets good at the endgame were you can mod him and make him a damage dealer that his abillities actually compliment.
@@Alex08191 thats true, he doesnt start off too great. I used him a lot and pushed to level him up so I might have gotten to the better version of his character quicker than most
