This review was sharp and educational. One tip I might add is to sample originals before diving into clones. Some clones will taint the idea of what the original actually smells like. At least sample and compare.
Or just avoid clones. I decided that I'd rather keep a smallish collection (smallish being relative to what I've seen many collectors have), and stick with the real thing. Some say Hawas is a clone. I don't know if that's true or if it was just inspired by something else, but when I got it, I had no idea it wasn't it's own thing. So if that's a clone, it's the only one I will own.
Hawas was created a year or two before Invictus Aqua, so Invictus is the inspiration. With the massive flood of Middle Eastern clones, peoples curiosity will take over. They will be eager to try them. With that being said, most can’t afford the originals and the next option is to sample or go for inspirations. I don’t fault anyone for buying clones, just don’t go down the rabbit hole and miss out on the way the fragrance DNA is supposed to be experienced.
CDNIM edp is my workhorse frag - versatile, cost effective and generally really good and smooth (although have never tried the edt to compare). Allows me to conserve my more pricey or discoed scents
I have the og edt batch and it's toxic. The stuff stinks of smokey birch and lemon pledge. Extremely harsh. That being said I have the limited edition parfum and it's smooth, aromatic, very nice. Literally night and day.
I appreciate your effort to make innovative fragrance content. I think it would still be okay to sprinkle in some Top 5s/10s to help your channel grow, but continue to make more interesting stuff like this.
After following fragcom for a couple of years, im finally starting to actually get to test those fragrances i keep hearing about. Im not someone who hates anything, Kouros, Figment, Ouds, anything i will analise so im not a squeemish or picky person and i stay objective all the time. Problem is, few things actually impressed me enough to want to buy it, especially in the designer space. Last month i tested 10 different designers and none of them stuck with me and they were all popular releases featured in every top10's. Out of my humble 30 bottles collection i have 3 that i really really love even when i just smell the nozzle (Layton Exclusif, Montale Red Vetiver and a 10 dollar clone of Noir Extreme that is Just Jack Noir Endurance because i love that DNA). Most stuff is just meh...especially designers...good quality, mass appealing, but meh. All my other scents i mostly blind bought and they kinda grew on me but i realised very few fragrances blow my mind from the get go.
Amazing video bro...indeed this is the School of Scent..much love from South Africa..when i have money after finding a job i wish to make Mr Fragrance my 1st ever fragrance Yey!! Been following 4 abt 2 years now...the passion you have Omar for this expensive hobby is beyond words... youre a true inspiration man!
Burlington 1819 is a non-basic fresh scent with a lot of depth. Its also a long lasting grapefruit scent with some cuminy musk in the background. The quality of ingredients used allows the citrus smell to last and its well blended with other notes in the background that dont surface in order to contribute to the overall scent
Great video Omar. I never paid attention to the perfumer and focused only on the brand. Also, unfortunately yes longevity is not always something we should expect from high quality fragrances
School of Scent consistently provides insightful and thorough fragrance reviews that showcase their deep understanding of scents. Their attention to detail and eloquent descriptions make them a standout in the world of fragrance reviewers. Always a reliable source for fragrance enthusiasts! Waiting for atrium launch in India
I wonder if another characteristic of a high quality perfume is how well rounded the blend is. I've found that (at any price point) if there aren't sharp edges between the notes or if the notes aren't all fighting for attention but rather blended into a harmonious whole where you can't almost smell the individual notes, as a mark of great quality perfume.
While you make some valid points, I must disagree with two of them. Concentration does not determine quality. It does determine whether you are purchasing an aftershave, a cologne, an eau de toilette, an eau de parfum, or a parfum, but it does not tell you about quality. There are many high quality colognes. Acqua de Parma's Colonia line is an example of quality fragrances that were made at lower concentrations. Their Blu Mediterraeno and Signature of the Sun lines, which are of higher concentrations, are not flankers of the Colonia line. Also, you cannot rely on packaging to determine quality. Under your argument, Chanel does not produce quality products. Dior Sauvage Elixir must not be high quality because it comes in a cardboard box. Granted, you did use Parfums de Marly as an exception because they use a simple box. Many, if not most, use simple boxes. The exception is probably the expensive packaging. Maybe the expensive packaging is an attempt to extract a higher price from the consumer, an attempt to make the consumer think that a mediocre perfume is of higher quality because they invested more money for fancy wrappings, or simply to make their product stand out on the shelf.
I haven't watched you in a while, I think it is because I realised I was spending WAY too much on fragrances so taking a break was necessary so I wouldn't be tempted. 😂 But whatever you have done to your beard is great, it really suits you!
I disagree. The best version of all CDNIM is the EDT. I know that the bashing against the EDT on the internet tells a different story, that's why I bought the pure Parfume version when my EDT was almost empty. And, it is one big disappointment. The EDT wins in every aspect. It smells better, but the opening of the perfume is not as good. Never mind, it is all about the dry down and they smell almost the same .but, the perfume doesn't project as good as the EDT, and the longevity is bad. The EDT is the scent that the people around me like the most, when I wear it, of all the scents that I have.
Appreciate something other then the silly "top 10" videos. I never watch those. I used to when I was new to the hobby of collecting fragrances. Now I feel sad every time I see one. So pointless...

It's the only one in my +20 collection that gave me allergy

Your content is appreciated. Well thought out, structured and genuinely helping perfumer buyers gain valuable knowledge!
Moschino Toy Boy is great! I am always getting a compliment when I wear it.
Great video with some great choices in there and I enjoyed it and have a blessed day
Love videos like this as someone who’s new to fragrances. Thanks for all the insights.
Omar, while I do not agree with your opinions from time to time I do enjoy listening to you talk about your passion.

Thanks for the Infos Omar, helps a lot

Great video. Thank you👍🏻
A very useful tutorial. Thanks
First. Can’t wait to smell Mr. Maritime
Make sure you have the consent of this Mr.Maritime before getting your nose too close to him
I watch this mans videos because I know he knows what he talking about. You can tell. Also I can tell you he is very professional
Great video. Very helpful. Blessings.
Tried toyboy on a strip some weeks ago and it didn't do anything for me, tried it on skin yesterday and it's was so so good! Definitely picking it up!
Just goes to show how different we all are I tried it and thought it smelled like fly spray
Fantastic review ❤
Very helpful. Yes, I prefer quality over quantity … even though the quantity of my fragrances is more than enough 😅

Good question. For me, being able to smell all the different notes is a good sign.
I wanted to love Burlington 1819, but there was something in it that repelled myself and my wife.

This is a very informative and helpful video, Omar. Thank you for it.
That said, allergen fears? Disclosure, yes.
But give me back my Oak Moss!
Yeah that’s another discussion for another day 👀
Detour Noir still smells funny for me even after a few months... Is it possible that its due to a lack of maceration?
may u please make a video about the effect of skin types on parfume performance. thank you..
It would be a very short video, some people have fragrances last longer, try to moisturise, that’s it 😂
@@SchoolOfScentWhat's up with the "😂"? Not everyone knows this stuff dude.
Hi omar...pls do scentologia syn-rgy review.
I haven't watched you in a while, I think it is because I realised I was spending WAY too much on fragrances so taking a break was necessary so I wouldn't be tempted. 😂 But whatever you have done to your beard is great, it really suits you!
Hey Omar, I've heard that Ahlaamak by Ard al Zafron is a good Code Profumo clone. Could you make a review on this?
Great video. I prefer quantity these days.
Sartorial vs Halfeti vs H. Cedar?? 🤔
Do you keep your perfume packaging?
Sometimes
number 1 best
Very informative and not like the rest of BS served on RUclips by other fragrance reviewers

At first i did not like it (edt version).. a year later i gave it another shot and i like it now. It does project and last forever
I guess you've really got to enjoy rose type scents to enjoy toyboy" I've owned it since it first dropped and it's just not for me kinda feminine
👍
Too bad quality costs as much as i pay for mortgage..

👍👍👍👍👍
For safety, I use vaseline.
Moschino is pronounced "Moskino". Yes, italian is weird, too...
he knows, but he sometimes mispronounces words for fun 😆
I really hope it's an old recorded video and you haven't trimmed your beard :(
Nice video
