    He wrote in his book that he didn't take his meds before this testimony on purpose so they'd see for themselves how Parkinson's effects people.

      @Truth Seeker I meant about it causing Parkinson's - I don't believe that to be true. I already knew he passed out for about 30 seconds when filming that scene. Just my personal view on the matter, no hard feelings.

    My grandma had a really bad case of Parkinson’s. She never took medicine because it seemed to not work. She was diagnosed in the early 90s and noticed it in one of her pinkie fingers. She passed away in October of 2019. For Michael to announce this from keeping it secret, and continue to still be here at the age of 59, just proves that anybody can push through anything with the confidence and the motivation.

    • @weasley2o13
      @weasley2o13 2 года назад

      29. He's one of the youngest patients in history if not the youngest. It actually started at 23 but was diagnosed only when his symptoms started 7 years later which, if you've listened to him explaining it basically means it was too late because by the time the visible symptoms start 80% of your dopamine cells have already died. And he's making history now by creating a way to detect biomarkers for it years before you actually get sick. It's a fucking revolution.

    Most beautiful person in the world inside and out

  • @weasley2o13
    @weasley2o13 2 года назад +30

    2:05 is brutal. It's really painful to watch and I can only imagine what a nightmare it is to experience. It's heartbreaking and life changing at the same time to watch him being so sick and yet so strong, and so brave to open up about something that is impossible to understand if you haven't been there yourself. It's important to hear, and it's important to see and it's important for him to understand that the choice to make this battle private, as legitimate and natural as it is, would've meant a cure that may never come. And he understood that. And he jumped in these deep, complex, ice cold water without any fear because he knew that he will someday make history. And we're so fucking close. We're so fucking close... And it's all thanks to Michael believing in miracles and choosing not to let go of himself. I don't know if it was god or the stars or his genetics or a combination of all 3 that gave him the gift of simply being himself and himself being enough to make everyone listen and open up to him and with him and taking that lesson forwards but Michael has been touched by something much more beautiful and profound than most people. And the fact that he's recognized his strength at only 32 years old is just extraordinary. What a beautiful beautiful man. And I think that in this moment he's the most beautiful he's ever been.

    This should almost be required by the education system to watch. First watch back to the future then watch this.
    How quickly your world can crumble, even as the coolest kid in the world (at the time.) He's still sharp as a tack but his body is failing him and there's nothing modern medicine can do about it. Just have to accept it.
    This humbled me as someone who typically tends to think I have that trait. As a big fan of Back to the Future but having never seen him this way even though I have heard for years and years he was it brought tears to my eyes.
    What a great man, more willpower than I can hope to have and an inspiration to us all. Hope he keeps fighting as long as he's willing and happy.

    There are many diseases where funding is restricted because the diseases are not 'common', or can't give payback to pharmaceutical companies to do research. I think we have the technology to do so much more as we understand more and more about the genetics of disease or illness.
    We should also consider the impact of those diseases/conditions on those people's lives and the high cost of care balanced against a relative rarity of some conditions when considering how more research may be funded.

I know - I have cared for ppl like him for over 40 years. If you have a drinking problem, please get help, cos it will NEVER end well for you. MJF is a prime example of this. His wife had way more patience than me - I would have told him to move out & get help. You cant help ppl who dont want to help themselves.

    Ever tried a strong EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) in the brain area? This should be easy possible with Non-Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse) generator, designed to test the radiation hardening of strategic aircraft systems. Without bothering to build a generator yourself.
    It could of course also be that this information did not reach the actual personal Michael J Fox
    because various agents pre-filter it
    So it's worth a try.

    Hi Michael j fox. Parkinsons is a disease is common only in older and elderly patients. Where the patient will shake and tremble because of nervous system damage. However this disease is treatable and I notice he admit a illegal cocaine use somewhere unless that was a rumor or false internet information.this illegal substance can effect the central nervous system. So reality is drug psychosis medication. If he did has parkinsons before cocaine. Then it is very rare for someone his age to even have parkinsons. So the medical doctors need to look into this some more. And just give him his normal parkinsons meds for elderly and senior citizens that us common disease for them. That is way parkinsons disease is treatable. Elderly and senior citizens shake tremble and move around and is common for their age .So I am hoping the doctors continue with his treatment.love your movies.

    What a crock. If he never got Parkinson’s, he would have never spoken about it; hypocrite. I admire the people who aren’t afflicted with some disease but are trying to do something about it.

      You need to be aware of something to speak about it. Dude donated large sums for research/practice for this disease.
      What have you done? Leave miserable & pathetic comments on RUclips?

      @-Anonymous-. lets not listen to this fool. Michael J Fox is a man robbed of his life by a terrible disease, yet keeps going.
      I would have taken euthenesia a long time ago if i was him. But he used all his assets for the better and still fights on.
      Michael J fox is a strong man and he is helping people with his actions.

    I really love Michael J Fox, is great person and a great actor and I pretty much love everything he’s ever done in the movies. With that being said I didn’t like the fact is that he admitted that he didn’t take his medication before this congressional fiasco, because he wanted people to see what he was going through. That to me in itself is a self-aggrandizing pile of shit bullshit excuse. He’s a multimillionaire, actor, and he decides not to take the medication that he can afford, to half and get, others can’t, why because he wants to sensationalize himself? I understand Parkinson’s is a very bad disease,But you don’t do crap like that just soft grandes yourself in a serious situation, in my opinion. Will always love Michael J Fox, he’s a great person and a great actor, but him admitting, that he did not take his medication before he going to this subcommittee, just shows you the kind of bullshit that things go through. People who have Parkinson’s, don’t have his money or stature, and deal with this every single day. That’s what pisses me off about This

      Yeah and it's because most people don't know what parkinson's does to a person that he did it. Because the people who can't pay for treatment aren't there and he wanted to show congress what they look like.
