I actually edit my clips on SHAREfactory on my ps4. I actually love editing. It puts my creativity to the test. If you go back on my videos. You can see the evolution on my editing. P.S. love your videos. I've learned so much.
Warning about Adobe. Understand that even though Premier is a month subscription you need to read the fine print. When you do the monthly you are also signed up for 24 months and required to pay the remaining months even if you try to unsubscribe. When signing up most people don't notice this is the fine print.
When it comes to videos, I have learned this: Editing is 75% of the video. content is 25%. If it is great content, people will not watch it if the editing is bad or non-existent. On the flip side, people have been known to suffer through bad content just because the editing was stellar!
@@PhdMusic03 I cant answer this because it is subjective. However most pros use Adobe Premier which is expensive and requires a subscription. I started with Sony Movie Studio 13. something I bought from Walmart years ago. That company was later bought out by Magix and so I upgraded to their Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum. one time fee, cost me $65. Has a lot of features and is really easy to use. But in is NO WHERE near the same level as Adobe PR. If you are just starting out and learning, start with something cheap and learn the in and outs and move up. By all means if you want to start big with things like PR, then go for it, but You will be overwhelmed, i can promise that.
@@PhdMusic03 just use resolve It's free, has better audio and color grading than premier pro, is just as good in general editing, has good vfx capabilities also, however slightly inferior to after effects Did I mention it's free?
I recommend DaVinci Resolve. It is free if u do not wanna pay for the "extra feature" version but the free version has an amazing layout and look and imo it does a better job than most of the paid editing software's out there.
I used to use Window's movie maker up until now. Windows 10 has been updated to a point that movie maker no longer works on it. It just keeps crashing :P and technically they did stop supporting it back in......I think it was either 2011 or 2012. FYI for those starting out ^-^
It's 2020, we're in the middle of a pandemic, and this video is still worth watching. I've been editing with Final Cut since college, 13 years ago, and still having a hard time making the switch. The worst part for me is sharing edited files with my Premier friends. I know I can send them my XML, but having that seamless transition would make things so much easier. Mark my words, I'm going to learn Premier by the end of May! The same day Frump says we're back open for business, or wait, maybe he's being sarcastic? Hmmmm, he may try injecting beach by then and trademark his own golf schawingggg!
If you currently edit on either Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier or FCPX, then you won't need to change editing programs. I love Sony Vegas pro, its so easy to use but crashes 24/7
Sony crashes all the time? Bummer! It seems like all of them do. I have Premiere Pro and I was thinking about switching to something else because it is way expensive and it to crashes a lot. Not to the degree of cheaper editors but it still crashes frequently, I would say 50% of the time.
The crashing for any video editing software may be related to hardware. An under powered PC or MAC will cause this. Dont go cheap with your computer if you plan to do a lot of heavy duty video editing. CPU, lots of memory, solid state drive and good video card all help.
I'm in the Linux world and using kdenlive. It has become very good and reliable. I'm sure that Premier and Final Cut are many levels better but I do deliver videos and get paid. I love the world of Open Source Software.
I don't think there is a perfect solution out there for Video Editing. People need to use whatever way they can find to channel their creative vision onto the screen. ...and not get stress out with the limitation of software.
Kdenlive is actually a great editor that had some stability issues until recently. Lightworks is a full-on top notch editor that recently got released in Linux. Scorcese and others have been using it for years.
Have you tried lightworks yet on Linux? I use it on windows, Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) and OSX. I recently learned about openshot. Seems like a good free editor on Linux as well. And gimp of course for picture editing and quick stuff.

Divinci Resolve by Black Magic is your best option if you want a free editor that works on both Mac and PC, there is a pro version that's about 1k but the free version is fkn awesome. I have started using Final Cut Pro due to a a job I`m doing and wasnt happy about it at first then was amazed that I can edit without a drama on a 2011 macbookpro! (has a fast SSD card) while I use my PC for heavy lifting , I`m definatly going to use final cut on my mac
Martin Reddy so is FinalCutProX faster than DaVinci Resolve on your Mac? I’m new to Mac (mid 2012 with SSD) and need some pointers on one that’ll not be dog slow.
Pretty sure AVID Media Composer should be on this list..works for both MAC and PC (equally) and they have a free download now so you can get accustomed to it. If you want to become a professional editor and seeing how 95% of feature film and TV drama's/feature doc's are cut on AVID, I think it should be on the list personally. That said, it's all just tools to tell a story so whatever tool works best...GO!

I use Cyberlink PowerDirector 16, and I find it extremely versatile and fast rendering, using the minimum of your computer processor. Comes loaded with easy effects, transitions, 3D and extremely powerful titling and overlays control. Plus even amateur can learn it quickly and take advantage of even more advanced features like animation, color management and complex audio control. You can pretty much do everything as in Adobe Premiere... maybe even more... without paying any monthly fees. I was wondering what program do you use to create thumbnails for your YT video? And what fonts? Thank you
WOW! Sean your so right! Being a video editor myself and helping people make more videos quickly, this is such valuable advice! Your advice on editing with adobe premiere has really helped me speed up my editing and take it to the next level for clients. If you do have the time to edit yourself this is a must watch video right to the end!
but for usual use, i'll choose the Final cut over premiere imagine this : PC - Premiere,Ryzen 7 2700x; GTX 1080ti; 32 gbs of RAM Macbook Pro 15 inch - Final Cut the macbook renders so much faster, and it's actually much easier to use except i got to work on studio, i'll go with Final cut for much faster and easier editing
+Immaculate mischief people upload bot codes on the internet, download filmora, look up its free codes and copy and paste them into the register box, turn off your wifi then click regester
I use Filmora9. At 51 yrs old, I started my channel, The Artful Addict, this past March, and while watching a few videos I came across someone giving a basic overview of Filmora and it looked straight forward and easy enough to learn. So far I've enjoyed using it and have been happy with the results. I'm no pro by any means, but I'm learning more all the time!
I bought VideoStudio a couple days ago because I was offered a deal on it. There is a definite learning curve. Using better software has made a difference I think.
Sean Cannell is one of the youtubers that decided to make my own channel! You are awesome! I wish I had a clear voice like you. Anyway the first few video's are comming up, so if anyone is feeling like it. I do not mind the support!
There's a free video editing software BLENDER. It is primarily a 3D software, but there it has a video editing interface, and it's really great. ✨ now that since windows media editing software isn't free, hope this helps. 😄
Sean, Don't know if you'd see this comment, but just have a pretty broad question for you. I started this challenge where I would just use my iPhone 7+ for daily vlogs, and also just use the phone in general to shoot and edit my content. If you have any recommendation on video editing apps for iOS it would help me a lot with my content. I'm currently using iMovie App, it's a hit and miss at times. If you could answer my question, That'll be great. Thanks
There is Davinci Resolve 12.5 which is extremely good for free software. I've only had 2 issues with it (that slow you down quite a bit). The playback is pretty slow so you have to generate optimized media to edit smoothly and quickly (this takes time to load). The other problem is when I put in a clip that has myself in it, the audio is out of sync and can't be fixed easily. The file has to be converted to a stable frame rate first (which takes a lot of time) THEN I can start editing. Not everyone will have this problem though, it depends on how you record your content. Adobe Premiere Pro however does not have either of these problems, but you've gotta pay for it. Just throwing it out there for anyone who would like to give it a shot.
I loveeee editing in Adobe Premiere Pro! There is definitely a learning curve but if you keep practicing, you definitely start to pick it up even with the intimidating interface! Once you learn it, you can create essentially whatever you want! The last comedy sketch I made for my RUclips channel about people being addicted to Tik Tok, I used a green screen and edited through Premiere! It was a breeze and provided so many cool options!
Adobe Cloud is pretty... annoying. You are renting the software. I picked up Premiere Elements for 60 bucks and it does everything I need. Only downside I can see to elements is it doesn't have GPU rendering like Premiere Pro. For me though...the big plus is I OWN Elements and don't need to spend any money anymore. Subscription software is really terrible and needs to go away.
I want to get to the point where I am a go to RUclips channel for my industry here in Vegas. I know I have a lot to learn before it happens I’m so glad there are you tubers like you help others to get better.
Yeah Idt they have it anymore. What they do have through is a creation category in Photos where you can put together pics and videos to make a movie. It's pretty basic though.
Hey. My Mac just died and so I have to take it to repair tomorrow. I just bought a camera and can finally fullfill my RUclips dream!!! In case if you were wondering where my stimulus went. It was such a huge dream and now YOU are answering all my questons. Thank you so much for being here!!! I'm so used to my iMovie but now that I'm actually able to film, no MAC for awhile. Stuck on PC and I don't have anything installed here. Anything that's most resembling to iMovie???
Sean, great video - great advice. I'd hands down suggest using free software first as people get starting out before investing in expensive applications. If your hungry for 'top of the line' davinci resolve is a good editor and a behemoth of a colour corrector and is free to use.
I use PowerDirector. I would say that software is that important. Things like FCPX and Premier are super powerful programs. The vast majority of RUclipsrs that I've seen don't come close to challenging the abilities of those programs. If all your doing is vlog like videos, you should have no problem on a lower cost program. I would suggest starting with a lower cost program and working your way up.
I have a question ok im new on RUclips.... new .. and some one said .. that i need to get better... so .. yea.. but . I guess i have to learn more ABOUT this.. yea..
Editing is 75% of the video. content is 25%. If it is great content, people will not watch it if the editing is bad or non-existent. On the flip side, people have been known to suffer through bad content just because the editing was stellar!
I started using Shotcut because it's free and because I don't really have any experience in video editing (just too basic for what I would like to do for my channel). It's not maybe the most intuitive but because I started using it (try and fail process) that helped me in a couple of hours to be able to do some basic editing that I needed for my first videos. There are also tutorials which I started watching and trying now to bring more complexity and get used to sounds effects and other nice effects. I'm trying now to learn more things by doing and I can confirm it's not bad to start low and with free tools.
After effects is a motion graphic program while premiere is editing. usually you do all your effect like opening etc on after effect and do the edit on premiere
I use Shotcut editor. It's good. .. but occasionally it would not accept my video import for editing. When it's stuck, I use ZillaTube.. works great, google it
I would love to hear one that is 2023 relevant. Photoshop now has a subscription program and some of your other links don't work either. Still learned a few things and am glad I watched this.

If you want a free software davinci resolve has worked well for me
Divinci Resolve by Black Magic is your best option if you want a free editor that works on both Mac and PC, there is a pro version that's about 1k but the free version is fkn awesome.
I have a pc and had no idea there was a movie maker on there. I've been using shortcut. It works for my basic needs so far.
Mark Holtze yeahhh i use avid 2

I use Cyberlink PowerDirector 16, and I find it extremely versatile and fast rendering, using the minimum of your computer processor. Comes loaded with easy effects, transitions, 3D and extremely powerful titling and overlays control. Plus even amateur can learn it quickly and take advantage of even more advanced features like animation, color management and complex audio control. You can pretty much do everything as in Adobe Premiere... maybe even more... without paying any monthly fees. I was wondering what program do you use to create thumbnails for your YT video? And what fonts? Thank you
what do you use to edit videos in ipad
Use a software called "a real computer"
WOW! Sean your so right! Being a video editor myself and helping people make more videos quickly, this is such valuable advice! Your advice on editing with adobe premiere has really helped me speed up my editing and take it to the next level for clients. If you do have the time to edit yourself this is a must watch video right to the end!
bro you're a life saver lol
I am a final Cut Pro user and I think it's the best special with the last update
different market
but for usual use, i'll choose the Final cut over premiere
imagine this :
PC - Premiere,Ryzen 7 2700x; GTX 1080ti; 32 gbs of RAM
Macbook Pro 15 inch - Final Cut
the macbook renders so much faster, and it's actually much easier to use
except i got to work on studio, i'll go with Final cut for much faster and easier editing
I use Sony movie studio for all my vlogs:) its a good starter editing software!
Yakira Lane Sony Vegas?
Bond Like Blood Fam its pretty much the same thing
Premiere .. training a lot is the key. My videos have improved a lot recently and I am still learning new techniques.
My old laptop crashed so I need to buy a new one. What should I look for in a laptop for video editing?
Atleast 8GB DDR4 RAM, a good processor, and drives (SSD/HDD) with lots of room for better storage capacity.
Who gets these programs legit in 2016 Lol
😂😂😂 get them codes guys
how would you get them for free??
+Immaculate mischief people upload bot codes on the internet, download filmora, look up its free codes and copy and paste them into the register box, turn off your wifi then click regester
I know i can downlod Premier Pro from torrent with crack but How can I have final cut pro on mac ?
Can you please give me a code?
How did you make the little mini intro video you have in all of your videos?
I use Filmora9. At 51 yrs old, I started my channel, The Artful Addict, this past March, and while watching a few videos I came across someone giving a basic overview of Filmora and it looked straight forward and easy enough to learn. So far I've enjoyed using it and have been happy with the results. I'm no pro by any means, but I'm learning more all the time!
Can anyone answer this question for me?
Nice vid! Does anybody know how to add multiple sound bits on Movie Maker Windows?
I use iMovie, because I can't pay for any other software ;D
I do too. But it has been driving me nuts lately haha I might invest in Final Cut very soon.
hey, have you invested yet? I was thinking of getting it too x
If you've got Mac I can send you Final Cut Pro X for free.
If you've got Mac I can send you Final Cut Pro X for free.
Melvin Asare you should send it to me 😂
I bought VideoStudio a couple days ago because I was offered a deal on it. There is a definite learning curve. Using better software has made a difference I think.
P
Sean Cannell is one of the youtubers that decided to make my own channel! You are awesome! I wish I had a clear voice like you. Anyway the first few video's are comming up, so if anyone is feeling like it. I do not mind the support!
I use DaVinci, amazing software for editing!!! Really stands up to Premiere and its not monthly
Pedro Valenzuela totally agree, it’s amazing
Thanks for the info! Im really against monthly subscriptions. Imagine over the years paying a company thousands and thousands and still not owning it.
There's a free video editing software BLENDER. It is primarily a 3D software, but there it has a video editing interface, and it's really great. ✨ now that since windows media editing software isn't free, hope this helps. 😄
Sean,
Don't know if you'd see this comment, but just have a pretty broad question for you.
Thanks
I always edit on a laptop or desktop - but I hear imovie is decent :-)
THiNK Media TV thanks for the input. :3
AngeloMellow I would say that iMovie is perfect for Vlogs.
Try Splice!
I mainly capture video on iPhone and edit on iMovie. Main reason - easy and I have a workflow down that works for me.
Windows Live Movie Maker. 2012 edition. The latest and last version ever.
It was a breeze and provided so many cool options!
just bought ur editing software hey guy go to Amazon and buy the 12 month plan for 19.99
nice!
is yours not a subscription?
does it work well for you the reviews are not good on amazon...
Nice info, thank you. I subscribed! Keep up the great work 😊
Adobe Cloud is pretty...
I tried finding windows movie maker for windows 10 but they don't have it anymore
I tried finding the old one and couldn't. Any more suggestions? I use to use movie maker all the time many years ago.
aarons1980 yea I miss it too it was simple to use lol
Yeah Idt they have it anymore. What they do have through is a creation category in Photos where you can put together pics and videos to make a movie. It's pretty basic though.
same happend here lol.... use filmora just for time being
U can just search it online and download it to your PC. I’ve downloaded mine and it works just fine. Its free so you dont have to worry
How did you light your room for this video?
just bought adobe premiere elements and photoshop
step how did you find it since buying it?
I use youcut and kinemaster in editing...by just using my mobile phone
using which editing software u edited this video 😝
Premiere Pro :-)
Jayaprakash Prakash fu
THiNK Media TV which program did u use to create ur @SeanConnel logo in the opening of the video?
For you MACBOOK users, where do your u guys store your videos? Do you guys just buy more storage? Thanks!!
❤❤❤
get another SSD, 1tb, replace it
i got windows pc and macbook pro
Sean, great video - great advice. I'd hands down suggest using free software first as people get starting out before investing in expensive applications. If your hungry for 'top of the line' davinci resolve is a good editor and a behemoth of a colour corrector and is free to use.
You continue to give us good tips and ideas I'm thankful
DaVinchi 14 free.... better than adobe!
LIKKLEbitCsale could you explain why it is better?
Davinci*
Ab Best Places it’s a software many movie companies use to edit their videos. It has a bunch of special effects.
When it comes to stability, editing video on paper is more stable than Premiere ;) Just my experience with it though ;)
I am using Windows Movie Maker! For thumbnails I use Canva(recommended by you) :)
bloger bobo I use Canva too!
Canva is still my personal choice for making all kind of thumbnails!
Can you give me camva link for download?
Is it Windows Movie Maker okay to use ?
I use PowerDirector. I would say that software is that important. Things like FCPX and Premier are super powerful programs. The vast majority of RUclipsrs that I've seen don't come close to challenging the abilities of those programs. If all your doing is vlog like videos, you should have no problem on a lower cost program. I would suggest starting with a lower cost program and working your way up.
You look PewDiePie in new version!
whos watching in 2019?
thank you very much its was very helpful ♥
حسام العنزي try to use hitfilm express 2017 is so dope
I use VSDC and so far it's serving me well
I would suggest filmora 9!! You can get it for $60 for ever!!! And unlimited updates all the features and everything you need!!!
i just got a add for this
Filmora is monthly subscription. Does it provide lifetime licence.
@@abhishekdadhich4072 Yes it provides an option for a lifetime subscription.
@@Fishing2day but the lifetime (Perpetual Plan) limits the user to use only the very version he purchased. no future upgrades and added functionality.
@@abhishekdadhich4072 I've never had any issues with that it updates like any software.
i prefer corel Verdi studio it is good in every thing including its high rendering speed specially for beginners like me
Try Hitfilm 4 Express. It's free!
Yeah I use Corel too, seems pretty good
is that free download ?
How about after effects?
What are the differences between After effects and Premiere Pro?
After effects is a motion graphic program while premiere is editing. usually you do all your effect like opening etc on after effect and do the edit on premiere
Adrian Di yeah what I do is edit all the footage in premiere and then Open project in AFter effects so I can add lighting and slo mo
Is Filmora any good? Ive heard mixed reviews, im looking for software where i can easily trim and join clips etc
I've heard the same - I need to try it out for myself.
THiNK Media TV A video on that would be cool! Thanks for replying too :)
+Will Maskell Music it is ok but I recommand changing it to sony vegas or premiere pro (i use c6)
The Evil Flareon how much is it? the problem is im on a tight budget
I meant Vegas lol, I think I'll leave filmora well alone lol
I use Shotcut editor. It's good. .. but occasionally it would not accept my video import for editing. When it's stuck, I use ZillaTube.. works great, google it
Bib Flin I use ShotCut also until I can justify paying for a better program!
I would love to hear one that is 2023 relevant. Photoshop now has a subscription program and some of your other links don't work either. Still learned a few things and am glad I watched this.
who else is trying to up their game in their channel
Me.
Watching May/2019
sub2sub plsss
Windows Movie Maker isn't available on windows 10 nor windows 8
