    Today I'm making the classic DIY, easy-to-make-, cheap table saw outfeed/assembly table, but better. I've waited many years to have enough room in my shop to have a simple table like this!
    Oh also, he'll never see this, but thanks to Joshua Weissman for the video title idea. I didn't steal it... I'm just, you know, borrowing it. (Check out one of the best food/cooking channels on RUclips here: / joshuaweissman )

    I absolutely feel ya on the Sketch-Up. I have been meaning to learn it to so I can properly design projects and have a "print" to work off of instead of just "winging it" on every job. I'm a retired carpenter and have the time, just not super computer savy and more than a little lazy.

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Год назад +5

      And then there's how to get the info in Sketchup into something you can decipher later in the real world. It's a lot of work for a guy who's better at taking a computer apart than typing on it (me).

    Love plywood stuff, I used to make wooden molds that could be taken apart. The ply used then was one and seven sixteenths for two thicknesses of three quarter. And the shop wood glue was elmers wood glue max, It held too well because a mistake ruined any glue up. Titebond was the back up when elmers was not available. Some of the molds are still in use twenty years on so I am confident in my decision to use ply, glue and pin nails. Table top was 3/4 inch cdx with masonite stapled to it, really made a great 8 foot outfeed and after a few years it was easily replaced.

    My man! Congrats on the new shop and getting a domino! That thing is amazing. I agree on making things nice for a place you spend a lot of time in. It keeps things positive, which gets the creative juices flowing. That style of work benches is my favorite. Quick and easy to build, easily adaptable to multiple purposes, very sturdy; just an all-around excellent design. 🙂

    I don’t need or have room for an assembly table. I just like watching youtube woodworking vids when it’s too hot in my shop. I almost always learn something. The bucket on the ground while planing blew me away! I’ve had a bucket next to my bench for years and never thought to move it like two feet!

    Interesting concept there. Pre-assembly of your bottom shelf and bench top as separate units looks like a good way to ensure that they come out with their framing perfectly aligned, level and plumb, thus the top flat and on plane. Good idea, as long as one has been very carful in measuring, cutting and assembling the bench framework. Yours fitted nicely. Well done.

    I cheated on my outfeed table. I picked up a Harbor Freight woodworking bench one time on a sale. It's not great... but it's not bad for general work. Anyway, I marked on my garage floor where to position my table saw so it's always in the same level spot. Next, I made shims to bring the H.F. bench up to the same height and screwed them in place. Everything's level and it makes a half-decent outfeed table. Your infeed table video form yesterday will make life wonderful!

    Nice table build. I've got to admit that I got lazy with my 4x4' outfeed table. I used Rockler shop stand frames & casters and added a 3/4" bottom table. The top frame is built up with good quality 2x4s and a 3/4" plywood top to make it very flat and stiff. I'll add some Microjig Matchfit groves for clamping shortly. A key consideration for me is ability to disassemble things to get them out of my basement.

    Love the new workspace 👍 Always nice to have more room. I am in a single car garage shop and am always looking for ways to maximize space. Absolutely love Rubio. What color did you use on the bench? I like the way it highlighted the grain instead of covering it completely. When you were hand planing your stock, how did you attach it to the table? Just clamps underneath? Lastly, what did you cover the flat surface of the shelf and table top with? I have become a fan of laminate as it cleans easiy and can be waxed. Thanks as always for what you do!

    I love this table design and I just bought the plans. Very well done. That said, I was a little disappointed that this purchase did not include the Sketchup file based on your mention of it in the video. I had hoped to use that to save me some time when making the necessary design modifications for my own situation and then build from that. Please let me know if it's possible to get that file from you as well.
