I did a test drive with the X3 xdrive30e and the XC60 T6 recharge. I have chosen for the XC60 T6 . Driving experience was almost the same but at the BMW , many options were not available ( adaptive cruise control , Harman Kardon , ... ) The Volvo drove very well and fast , electric range is also 70 km , BMW only 45 km. For info , I have now the BMW 430i
Greeting from Wisconsin 🙂. Thanks so much for your in-depth reviews on these vehicles. Trying to decide between 3 brands that you featured, and watching this has been extremely helpful. Keep up the great work!!
The Genesis seems the best choice in my opinion. It is good looking, it has great interior quality and seems quite luxurious, the engines and the gearbox can satisfy 90% of the clients, I believe. Too bad that there aren't enough official services and showrooms in Europe for this company. It really needs more advertising. Good job for the review.✌🏻🎉
My brother has an X3 and I have test driven the XC60. I was actually surprised how sporty and german like the XC60 is. It handles really well. I would go with that, even though the X3 is sporty and fun, but to be expected from BMW.
Your Reviews are best-on-line. What makes the Reviews even more amazing, is you deliver them in English that is not you native language. Thank-you. I agree with your selection of the X3. I've had a X3 M40I ordered from 'new', since 30th April 2021. Delivery date still not before 21st May 2022 for the BMW X3 LCI 2022 M40I, a 12 month wait of frustration! So though I agree with your review winner, I'm so close to leaving BMW and telling them to 'forget' my order! My negatives with BMW, with the X3 (Though similar issues on most models I understand) in the UK, are the following... 1. Rear Heated seats not available in UK, but available in North American market for X3 LCI. 2. Winter or All Season Tyres not available for UK BMW market, as only come with Bridgestone Summer Tyres (Not the Best!) 3. UK BMW Dealerships or UK BMW will not fit All Season or Winter tyres on any wheel rim above 19 inches. So have to buy a complete set of 4 new wheels and tyres at 19 inch, at considerable additional cost. If you go to a Tyre Company, that is not a BMW approved dealership or garage (So that means none are available) where you can get 21 inch tyres for your 21 inch X3 wheels, you 'void' all of your BMW 3 Year Warranty's. This really is BMW poor customer service to the UK car market, as we do get 4+ months below 7 degrees in Scotland, UK. Be interested what the other manufacturers do or not do in UK car market? 4. Even though I had legally 'signed a finance agreement' at 2.9% APR for my new X3, the small print has allowed BMW to raise this now to 3.9% APR over the 12 month wait for my ordered X3. I'm now waiting for the next APR increase or increase in value that BMW may decide to hit me with prior to delivery of the new X3 that I legally signed an agreement for and entered a contract with BMW, back in April 2021. But, 'Small-Print' allows BMW to change this up-to the delivery day that you drive off in the car. This in itself is scandalous. It shows BMW though build great car's, treat UK customers like 'S _ _ t'! Or I'm just stupid staying with BMW on this new ordered X3 LC1 2022 M40I with a 12 month delivery date, that has had features removed and APR finance % increased. Genesis is starting to look appealing!!
Fantastic review as always...I greatly appreciate these longer comparisons! Question...When considering visibility...I don't typically see reviewers mention how the vehicles hood lines impact forward visibility...most importantly the ability to "place" the vehicle as you drive in tight situations. I have found that cars that have raised/sculpted hood lines which are closer to the edge of the car, provide the best reference as to how close the vehicle is to other cars/objects on the side. However, it seems that so many designs these days sculpt those lines further inward away for the edges. I have a 2020 Volvo v60 cross country...love it...but I find it very hard to judge how close I am to objects on the side. It seems that the XC 60 is similar while cars such as the Macan and the Genesis seem to be much better at the hood lines are raised close to the edges. Have you found this to be an issue between cars you review? Thanks so much!
@@autogefuehl yes definitely. I have a surround camera as well and it all definitely helps. The challenge I sometimes have is when driving on a narrow road or while passing parked cars for example. Raised hood lines near the edge of fenders definitely help give distance perspective. Of course your fairly tall so that helps. Lol. Keep up the wonderful reviews.
It depends on what you value. I test drove all these SUV’s and went with the Macan. I value the driving experience and none of the other SUV’s came close when driving at speed. If you want an SUV that drives better than most cars than go with the Macan. If you value space, practicability and safety go with the Volvo. If you value an exquisite interior than the genesis is for you. Frankly, I’d avoid the BMW, they have some of the worst reliability ratings of any car brand.
Hello William, Just wonder: how do you feel with / about Macan after some time of owning? I am going in the direction of my decision: stick with Macan. So... Actually my main question is: space and practicality - are those so bad with Macan? As many do mention this side of Macan. Appreciate you reply.
Love the refreshed X3, I’m usually a Mercedes guy but I have to admit the GLC is now the most dated it’s the oldest out of all of its competition seeing as the new one should be coming either this year or next year
@@Carfan678 he's not talking about looks I guess but the creeking central console. "Dated" is honestly a compliment these days, yoi'd rather prefer the cheapish interior of the new one
Nice reviews Thomas. As a Volvo XC60 T 5 inscription owner it’s puzzled me why the engine sounds harsh. Like you said it’s petrol but it sounds like a diesel. It’s worse in sports mode and do I never rev the engine past 3000 rpms. By chance recently I filled up my car with a new fuel brand which contains friction modifiers and cleaning agents latest fuel tech and now the engine runs beautiful no more noisy harshness when Reving and more low end power. I can’t understand why Volvo uses this engine. I also own a C30 T 5 and it is much more smooth by comparison. Volvo should have continued that engine just as Audi has kept.
For me has to be the volvo xc60 so gorgeous car especially with r design and this awesome color it's lovely inside too the BMW x3 kinda feels generic both inside and outside although it wins on handling department
Incredibly thorough review for all the models I happen to be considering, thank you! Any insight on the cost comparison of upkeep and maintenance across these brands and models? How would you rank them?
A month ago, I put down a deposit on a Genesis Gv70. I did this before I even saw a GV70 in person, much less drove one. There are none in stock in Colorado and Genesis is not accepting orders at this time. My deposit is for my dealer’s future allocation. Of course, there are many deposits at this dealership in line ahead of mine. The dealer has no idea how many they will get or when they will get them. I was told an estimate of December to get my GV70. Wow, that's a long time from now. In the meantime, I began investigating the Porsche Macan and as luck would have it the dealer just got word of a 2022 allocation base Macan that was available (fluke, long story it was lucky timing). This Macan will be here mid-July. Drove their demo 2021 base Macan and loved it!! It was so nimble and drove more like a sports car than an SUV. So put a deposit on it. Two days ago, Echo Park in Denver had a Genesis gv70 in stock and I rushed to see it. Beautiful vehicle with impressive build quality and design. I drove it and it felt so large and sluggish compared to the Porsche though. I do own a BMW 440 Grand Coupe and this is the first SUV I have ever driven (true). Well, I'm buying the Porsche ($62180 MSRP with options). BTW the GV70 I drove was 100% standard, no options with a sticker price of about $44500. They had it priced at $53995 (565 miles, no negotiating) and it sold to the next couple in line waiting to drive it. Crazy market!!!
Excellent review. I've owned Jags and Germans in the past. There were so many positive reviews on RUclips, and named Motor Trends SUV of the year, I test drove a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige just to see what all the press was about. Love the design language, inside and out, the 3.5 has enough power, and I bought it when I got back to the dealer. The X3 was $5K more, and I much prefer the GV70's looks. Genesis is a player............
i don't know why i feel why i do but i just prefer the x3 over the audi by such a wide margin, x3 and gv70 are the only two i would consider, i know the porsche is better in every single way and if i had infinite $ it would be the no brain decision, but in my mind i feel like cost for porsche maintenance like changing break pands would be way more than x3, am I wrong? If maintenance was about the same cost I would pick porsche. Does anyone who has money and has actually oned a porsche and or x3 have an opinion on maintenance costs? Hit me up.
Porsche actually has the top spot on expected reliability. It is a minor concern for me with the GV70. I have to drive more of these cars like the M40i
I will be choosing between an X3 (after iDrive 8 is added) and the GLC. I like the X3's looks better; however, the Mercedes infotainment and digital instrumentation graphics and features are much more appealing to me than the iDrive 8 system. Then again, Consumer Reports puts BMW at the top of their list and Mercedes is quite a ways down in the list. Any comments on Mercedes reliability for those who may own a GLC?
@Autogefühl Have you not heard that the USA Consumer Report named The Mercedes GLE the Number 1 most unreliable SUV on the market for 2021, with a reliability rating of just 5/100? No.3 was the Volvo XC90. No. 5 most unreliable SUV 2021 was the VW Tiguan with 17/100. JLR did not make the list for a change. Maybe they are catching up after all!?
I'll always go to bat for Volvo cause Mjolnir headlights but, as nice as the XC60 is, it's too buttoned up. I feel like I'm driving a tank. You cant throw it into the corners. Too heavy, too. Has to be sport luxury for me. I'm not crazy about the Genesis design language. It's not bad. It just looks like a knockoff. Like what's a Genesis? There's no brand cache. Money no object: The Porsche. Outside of that, get the X3.
Hello Thomas! Thank you very much for your efforts in this video. Loved it. Please could you help me decide on which to go for? Volvo CX60 plugin hybrid 2022 with 70 km range on electric motor Or GLC 200 mild hybrid 2021 model face lift amg interior exterior - petrol engine Thanks! I'm really struggling to pick! (I've previously owned a C class 200 w205.)
@@autogefuehl thank you for your response! 5000 euros is the price difference. NB. The GLC is cheaper. The GLC is practically a "demo" car, and has around 7,000 km on board. Whereas the Volvo is brand new and comes with the new engine and plug-in hybrid, model 2022. GLC model 2020 or 2021 depends on what I find! The only plus about the GLC is the ambient lighting😅 I do not believe the Volvo has got ambient lighting around the entire dashboard.
The Macan is the most sporty car you can get…if you like comfort sport and luxury…you will be able to effort a Porsche…otherwise you only drive second class….however, the X3 is also nice -.but not a Porsche
Greeting from Puerto Rico! i wanted to thank you for helping me choose my new SUV (which I got the new redesign BMW X3). I tested every car and the best overall was the BMW X3 in general. I wanted the Macan however, thanks to taxes here, it jumps to $90k which is too much for my parents to buy for me. The Genesis was great and loved it, however, 1) I looked like a old person due to demographic buyer of Genesis in my island and 2) depreciation was a concern. The Volvo actually came second, however, it didn't offer such great dynamic compared to the BMW and to the Porsche. Also they where charging me a $20k markups to the cars as well. Lexus was boring. Audi was great, however, the interest rate jumped to 14% apr which was too much. Mercedes was one of my first choices as i trust their services, however, it was kinda dated and I already knew that the 2023 redesign was coming. Finally I there was Tesla Model Y, however, sadly I live in an apartment so charging would be extremely hard.
I think the Volvo comes out worst. The Genesis is very impressive. I wonder how well its resale value will compare to the Germans. Of the Germans, I favour the Merc.
Do not agree that is your opinion only. German cars like BMW and Audi had terrible reliability problems with water pump made from plastic material that leak coolant after few years so call "German quality " . Mercedes overall exterior starting to looks dated including the shortest overall height for an SUV. Yawn..
@@kevinhan721 At least Volvo still engineered by Swedish way better and much better than funny looking Korean car like Hyundai and worst crap like KIA with poor engine technology and crappy ride and handling . Imagine a Kia Caravan engine cannot last and was never durable . No wonder all the the Korean 1.6 T engine catches FIRE easily as seen in USA . Korean cars lack durability and toughness but only emphases on reliability . Poor Korean car crappy manufacturer like Hyundai and Kia . I do not even want to visit their showrooms at all and end up buying crap cars. Volvo is way much better than any Korean cars even genesis is crappy luxury so called
@Kon Sen point well made. I would agree with you mostly on Korean cars. I wouldn't buy one for myself. However Chinese you don't even have ANY car maker on your own. Or at least internationally known. So how about you stfu?
This is the video you seek: ruclips.net/video/AyVIUtzT3ZQ/видео.html Just note that the C-Class is still in the previous generation there, however the verdict still counts.
Yeah if I had to buy one it would be a Lexus. That's quality right there. But tbh the Genesis looks so good it's hard to resist. The rest just look... like the rest... another European car.
I pre-ordered a Lexus NX 350h , by the way. After watching all these videos. The GV70 has to prove itself, and does not come with a hybrid powertrain (a dealbreaker for me).
Glad I skipped to the end. You knocked the Audi because of a "lack of animal skin alternatives" for the seats? OK, whatever... Not sure I understand the fascination with the BMW. It's exterior is the boxiest, most minivan-like of the group. If that's what floats your Das Boot, have at it.
Just ridiculous that a Macan doesn't come with keyless entry/start which I got on my Renault Megane even though it costs over 6.5 times as much (and the Megane was 5 years older)
they cannot keep up anymore. Horrible reliability sadly and bad interiors. It's really a pity since I have been working for the brands and I still love them. But you have to be very selective with the model and engine choices at JLR these days.
@@autogefuehl Really can’t agree. The JLR interiors are really pleasing to the eye. Audi interiors are nice but BMW’s, like their exteriors, are a mess of disjointed lines. Mercedes seem to have mastered a look somewhere between a dentist’s surgery and a bachelor home cinema. And what about the Alfa Romeo Stelvio? That’s a real driver’s car, like the Porsche. And it has a load of style. You don’t consider that. Concerning reliability, if you want that, you should steer clear of all the European brands and buy Japanese or Korean. Me, I’ve ordered a Peugeot. The interior looks like it was styled by someone who actually enjoyed his work.
@@autogefuehl Have you not heard that the USA Consumer Report 2021 named The Mercedes GLE the Number 1 most unreliable SUV on the market, with a reliability rating of just 5/100? Would be great if there’s a new one for large SUV (7 seaters). Thanks
Yeah Mercedes indeed has problems recently!
Can someone explain to me why anyone would choose a Q5 sportsback over a standard Q5? All I see is less boot space.....
if you prefer the design...
If I look for two cars which to use in country which has 5% tarmac road, which combination you recommend, (range lwb+macan) or cruiser + evoque?
With such an in-depth comparison, my homework is done (no need to waste time at dealerships) 🙂
enjoy =)
X3 for me's too!
GV70 > X3 > Macan > GLC > XC60 > Q5
Macan is the best lmao. It is in another league.
Out of the normal SUVs the Genesis is the best.
@@dragospahontu For normal Macan yes,but for X3 M40i or M40d I can't say no to B58 engine
@@haoji5910 straight 6 is a smooth engine👌. I just prefer the interior of the Genesis
@@dragospahontu agree
Shame you did not include the 2022 face-lift xc60, it has google infotainment and is now a different car to 2021 models
In Belgium you can no longer get the adaptive cruise control on the X3, only on the IX3 it's still available. That's a very big downside.
Me my favorite is the Audi Q5 Sportback
What is the first X3's colour name, please?
Volvo CX60 plugin hybrid 2022 with 70 km range on electric motor
Or
GLC 200 mild hybrid 2021 model face lift amg interior exterior - petrol engine
Thanks! I'm really struggling to pick! (I've previously owned a C class 200 w205.)
Thanks 🙏 both very nice vehicles!
What is the price difference? And which can u get without animal skin :)
The X3 wins.
Macan > GV70 > X3 > GLC > Q5. Hard no on the Volvo.
The Macan is the most sporty car you can get…if you like comfort sport and luxury…you will be able to effort a Porsche…otherwise you only drive second class….however, the X3 is also nice -.but not a Porsche
Audi allways
Nice.
Thomas blue wins.
always!
Holy CHRIST I want that jacket.
For that price point better option is the Panamera
I'm looking for which European mid SUV is fun with 155k/h and is luxury on small bums with at least 55k/h
I think the Volvo comes out worst. The Genesis is very impressive. I wonder how well its resale value will compare to the Germans. Of the Germans, I favour the Merc.
Chinese owned Volvo vs. Korean Hyundai
Do not agree that is your opinion only. German cars like BMW and Audi had terrible reliability problems with water pump made from plastic material that leak coolant after few years so call "German quality " . Mercedes overall exterior starting to looks dated including the shortest overall height for an SUV. Yawn..
@@konsen6149 Chinese. Enough said. Poor Volvo now China owned. They will ruin the brand..
No highs, no lows... Bose.
What about the new Lexus NX?
Coming as soon as we can get our hands on it

can you compare the new 3 series, a4 and the c class?
This is the video you seek: ruclips.net/video/AyVIUtzT3ZQ/видео.html
Just note that the C-Class is still in the previous generation there, however the verdict still counts.
Genesis is great, but u cannot bring it near the Porsche... u just can't..
You guys have to take the new Mazda CX 60 D254 into this comparison
We ll do cx60 vs x3 soon!
@@autogefuehl would you think it‘s worth to skip the CX 60s advanced power train for the more luxurious GV70?
GV70 is also nice: ruclips.net/video/v2Z9-Hx1Kzw/видео.html
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
q5 boring interior pass for me
The new X3 face-lift is a disaster. The previous version was far better, imo.
For me it has to be the new Genesis GV80.
Thats rather vs GLE, X5 etc. ruclips.net/video/LPcH0kXG9t0/видео.html
@@autogefuehl nice👌
I underetand that in any comparative for you the best is the BMW
Nope. Depends on the segment
Bmw siempre
For sure
Mazda CX6
They’ll never talk about Lexus and proven reliability. Lexus cars will far outlive the built in obsolescence of these Brands..!
Lexus NX review is now here: ruclips.net/video/KaZ5LMkYA44/видео.html
Too bad that's the pre-facelift xc60
best premium SUV is alfa romeo stelvio !!!
? Jaguar F-Pace? Land Rover Discovery Sport?
they cannot keep up anymore.
@@richardwilton722 man JLR has fallen down a cliff. I mean the Germans also have a bit, but JLR is not in a good place.

Really? It’s arguably the best vehicle here.
Just avoid the volvo...
Why?
It is owned by the Chinese, will have cheap and fake materials in the vehicles.
@@LN-bq3wx Maybe so. But most of the reviews say it has good quality Scandinavian inspired materials. So I'm quite unsure... 🤷♂️
