Great lesson. I've been learning for about 7 months now and always though Paul Kelly who is my favourite song writer, was going to be beyond me. But all simple open chords and easy strum pattern and this was one of the quickest songs I've learnt so far. THANKYOU. But all thise extra bits might have to wait for a while yet..🤣. Now to find how to make gravy 😀😆
Hey Carolyn, glad it helped. How to make Gravy isn’t too bad hard to get into. It has a couple of moveable chord shapes. Maybe I should knock up a lesson for it🤔

It does appear that I’m hitting a bass note on the first beat of the strumming pattern, though it’s not as defined as say a country or bluegrass pick strum pattern. I’m just roughly aiming for the root note of each chord on beat one, ie, the Low E string for the G chord, D string for the D chord and A string for the C chord. Don’t worry so much about precision, if you hit a nearby string, it’s perfectly fine, Cheers Andrew
I'm over 70 years old, still love the music,

Good tutorial! 👍 Can you do Two Black Cadillacs by Carrie Underwood?
Thanks, I’ll look into it :)
On the first down strum. Are you only strumming on the first string of the chord?
So is the strumming pattern bass strum, you seem to be doing one thing but plucking a bass string before the pattern?
