Dave is 100% correct. Fans will fill that ballpark if ownership and management give them a reason to be excited. And if they do that consistently they can build interest across a couple of generations and then we aren’t talking about attendance. But when you repeatedly humiliate your fan base and make them ashamed to wear the logo and the colors of the team this is what you get.
When the Sox tore the team down in 2016 there wasn’t some historic dip in attendance because the fan base got it. They understood how a rebuild is supposed to work and they stuck it out. But ownership and management didn’t reward their faith, and I don’t think the fans feel like they deserve the benefit of the doubt anymore. Go show that you want to win.
