One of my favorite announcers of all time, really going to miss him. I'm an American hockey fan too. But man what a recognizable voice, great announcer, better person. His legacy will live on for decades.
Bob Cole is and always will be the epicenter of how hockey sounds for me. Been rather emotional the last cpl days with all of the tributes and stories shared far and wide from so many people. Send my love, condolences and gratitude to his family, friends and colleagues. And of course to everyone who grew up as I did. Nobody called a game like Bob Cole did ❤
I think what made him so great was his excitement made the moment feel so dramatic and important. The atmosphere he created in those playoff games can't be matched by any other broadcaster.
1. The timing on the whoa baby when Lemieux scores. Perfection. 2. If you can't show the highlight of Sakic's last goal in the 2002 Olympics it should have at least been mentioned. 3. Oh baby for sure...What a line!
I’ve always felt that was the best goal call and series in NHL history. The whole two minutes leading up to the goal will forever be burned in my memory. “Two-thirty-five left. One goal. That’s all that separates these two. Anderson and Messier again. Anderson…SCORES!!!!!!”
Bob has been a very big part of my life, growing up with my brothers. Some of the best evenings ever. All my best hockey memories have Bobs voice in them. Love you Bob. ❤️. You will be missed greatly. Enjoy your retirement. Sit back and enjoy hockey now and know you had a huge part of millions of lives. Steve, great picks‼️ Great tribute‼️. 👍❤️
Simply the best and there will never be another one like him. His call on Lemieux's goal during Stanley cup 1991 finals was one to remember. Good job Sir! Th
I've heard Danny Galivan, Foster Hewitt, Bill Hewitt and the myriad of other TSN and Sportsnet commentators but Bob Cole IS THE voice . Soundtrack of our lives. Be thankful and blessed to hear him call the greatest of all sports and pass times. He's the voice to pass on to your children \m/ \_.
Truly a legend and a hall of famer Canadiens will miss his voice. A noble man that gave 50 years to the sport and fans across the country. Mr Cole Canada loves you you will live forever in our hearts and minds!
It's gonna be a break, it is Joe Sakic, SCORE! JOOOOOE! SAKIC! SCORES! And that makes it 5-2 Canada. Surely that's gotta be it! #standupandcheereverybody
the best part of the playoffs growing up was listening to Bob Cole call the games and narrate NHL History, I'll miss him too, my favorites were the 93 Canadiens Cup Run and Lemieux deking out the NorthStars
Love your description. Bob Cole understood the music. But his best call was the Nagano Olympics shootout. It was an ugly, somber moment and Bob played the perfect note. Too bad the IOC makes it impossible to find!
Had I been the head of Sportsnet, I would've assigned Bob Cole to call the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals. He deserved one last Finals before retirement. His final call should have been: "After over fifty years, one of the most loyal fan bases in all of sport finally has their Stanley Cup! St. Louis is no longer singing the Blues; they're now singing 'We Are The Champions'!".
The reach around Gilmour gave Cujo was his most epic call. That and Borshevsky against Detroit. I'll never be able to pick one of those. Just can't. His calls are like Led Zeppelin songs. You can't have just one favorite.
My favorite call of Bob Cole will ALWAYS be "Here comes the faceoff and BLARE IT MANHATTAN! The New York Rangers have done it here on a hot June night in New York! The Rangers are Stanley Cup Champions!" my favorite Stanley Cup winning call until the L.A. Kings won in 2012.
So many times I remember listening to Mr. Cole call a game and thinking the game was so exciting and entertaining. But then you look at the stats and it was a 2 - 1 game or some low scoring game with very little shots and you think back and realize the game was a dud but Mr. Cole made it sound exciting. He will be missed.
Bob Cole: Tress MacNeille Foster Hewitt: June Foray Jim Hughson: Kath Soucie Doc Emrick: Grey Griffin Dave Strader: Russi Taylor Kenny Albert: Kari Wahlgren Gord Miller: Tara Strong Gary Thorne: Nancy Cartwright
There's nary a bad call on Stevie Y's OT goal (Bob Cole, Gary Thorne, Dave Strader and Mickey Redmond), but Bob had an even better line regarding Steve a year later: "Yzerman, on the ice, where he should be. At center ice, where he should be..."
"OHH BABY FORSURE" I was born in 69, so naturally Bob was all I've every heard. It's definitely going to be different now 😩 CONGRATS ON 50 YEARS BOB! YOU WILL BE MISSED! " GO LEAFS GO "
RIP Mr. Cole. You were the voice of our childhood memories.
Not the only one that went straight here after hearing the news.
One of my favorite announcers of all time, really going to miss him. I'm an American hockey fan too. But man what a recognizable voice, great announcer, better person. His legacy will live on for decades.
Legend. I can listen to his calls over and over and over.
RIP GOAT! Voice of my childhood on Saturday nights. Those Toronto vs Montreal games on HNIC will live with me forever.
Nobody called a game like Bob Cole did ❤
One of the all-time greats at the mic. And you gotta love the way he says “Detroiyit.”
Rest in peace Bob! To me, you will always be the voice of hockey. Simply the best.
R.I.P. Bob Cole. You were the voice of Canada!!! We Will Miss You EVERY Saturday Night even more now!
I think what made him so great was his excitement made the moment feel so dramatic and important. The atmosphere he created in those playoff games can't be matched by any other broadcaster.
The greatest commentator in hockey history. On this Saturday, April 6, 2019 this day marks the end of a wonderful era. Love ya bob! Oh Baby!
1. The timing on the whoa baby when Lemieux scores. Perfection.
2. If you can't show the highlight of Sakic's last goal in the 2002 Olympics it should have at least been mentioned.
3. Oh baby for sure...What a line!
Glen Anderson scoring with just over 3 minutes in game 7 against Philly in 1987 is another "Cole Classic"
I’ve always felt that was the best goal call and series in NHL history. The whole two minutes leading up to the goal will forever be burned in my memory. “Two-thirty-five left. One goal. That’s all that separates these two. Anderson and Messier again. Anderson…SCORES!!!!!!”

As a Wings fan I wasn't the biggest Sakic fan, but what a moment and what a call.
I love this man so very much
A legend ❤️ bob cole
“Jooooooeeeee Sakkkicccc!” Honourable mention
the best part of the playoffs growing up was listening to Bob Cole call the games and narrate NHL History, I'll miss him too, my favorites were the 93 Canadiens Cup Run and Lemieux deking out the NorthStars
Can't say that I enjoy his commentating but he's definitely a legend in the broadcasting world.
RIP 🙏 u were part of some of the most fun times in my life
RIP Cole, thanks for the iconic call for the Ottawa Senators in 2007, " Shot By The Hot Guy " which I still remember in 2024 ,who else remembers that?
1989 game 7 Smythe Division first round Calgary vs Vancouver was one of my earliest hockey memories. What a game, what a call by Bob Cole.
Bob Cole could get you just as excited with his commentary as much as the action on the ice. Oh Baby
Also as a Penguins fan it's cool to think that his last ever playoff game was when my Pens beat the Capitals in game 7 in 2017.
*barf*
Sergei Berezin man a name I have not heard or thought of in years
Good selection Mr Steve Dangle. Many happy days to come in your retirement Mr Robert Cole, from an overseas fan from the UK.
A great man. An enduring legacy. 50 years on the job is a long time. Happy retirement Bob!! 🏒
This could've been a compilation video, I don't know why we needed Steve here to preview every highlight.
REST IN PEACE BOB COLE
Thank god there’s a video below that simply shows the calls-not sure we need an in-depth analysis interrupting things every 5 seconds.
Great video! Going to so miss hearing his voice calling games, especially during playoff time!
RIP Bob Cole. You were a beauty!
Chills still. Thanks Dangle
Bob is simply a very important part of Canadiana. Very.
The call on the Desjardins OT goal in game 2 of the 1993 Final, is pure excellence.
Bob cole is a legend man.
Bob Cole there will never be another like him
Thank you Mr. Cole. You are a very familiar voice and will be very missed.
Bob Cole is a part of the reason why I became a Leafs fan in 1993.
Love that you got to do this video buddy!! #BobColeForPM #DangleNavy
I love how you can hear Harry Neale chuckling on lemieuxs goals against the north stars. Lol
His voice.seemed to have a excitement to it .Him and Jim Robson are 2 of the all time greats.
His best call ever was when Linden scored on Hasek in Nagano.. Wish that clip was somewhere.
Bob cole for president
My fav Bob Cole call: Paul Kariya gold medal game 2002
Bob Cole = G.O.A.T
Though sometimes I used to yell at you and Harry more than I would at the Leafs, I thank you Bob Cole, for all the great memories.
probably won't let you use olympic footage but: jjjjjjjjjjjjjOOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEE SAAAAAAAAKIC, SURELY....THAT'S GOTTA BE IT.
I was just thinking about that call too. 2002 Olympics
The 2002...men’s...ice hockey...gold medal....Canada!
Love your description. Bob Cole understood the music. But his best call was the Nagano Olympics shootout. It was an ugly, somber moment and Bob played the perfect note.
Too bad the IOC makes it impossible to find!
Man, I miss him.
May he RIP, Bob was the GOAT!
Wow what a beauty !!
after a while Cole's calls and what was actually going on in the game were two different things.
It was nice to relive the Flames' last Cup right at the start. I was 11.
Who's watching on April 25, 2024? OHHHH BABY!!!!!!
I was a 9year old kid (habs fan) when Bob called that 1989 Calgary cup win. I was heart broken.
5:06 Actually it was Rock Em’ Sock Em’ 9, because that shows the 1996-97 highlights and Cujo remarkable save that Bob Cole calls was in 97’.
Legend. RIP
Long live Bob Cole. #legend
The Kenny Morrow call vs the rangers is his best!
steve thomas goal was the best leaf goal/call i've ever seen
I'm pretty young and I haven't heard him in the 90's, but I'll miss him and his classic "oh baby"
Bob Cole has a new job...Calling the action at The Pearly Gates!
Bob Cole and Bill Hewitt the very best!!
The absolute best. Bob Cole was the voice of HNIC.
The best.
So many times I remember listening to Mr. Cole call a game and thinking the game was so exciting and entertaining. But then you look at the stats and it was a 2 - 1 game or some low scoring game with very little shots and you think back and realize the game was a dud but Mr. Cole made it sound exciting. Bob Cole to the hockey hall of fame? I say yes.
Where is "They're Going Home! They're Going Home! Yeah, They're Going Home!"? Probably his best call ever.
Bob Cole: Tress MacNeille
Foster Hewitt: June Foray
Jim Hughson: Kath Soucie
Doc Emrick: Grey Griffin
Dave Strader: Russi Taylor
Kenny Albert: Kari Wahlgren
Gord Miller: Tara Strong
Gary Thorne: Nancy Cartwright
1994 finals. And 1972 summit series on cbc radio
Bobs call on the Joe Sakic goal in Salt Lake City should be up there
as a habs fan 3:30 to 3:41 gives me chills
RIP GOAT 🐐🐐🐐
There's nary a bad call on Stevie Y's OT goal (Bob Cole, Gary Thorne, Dave Strader and Mickey Redmond), but Bob had an even better line regarding Steve a year later:
"Yzerman, on the ice, where he should be. At center ice, where he should be..."
I'll always love that yzerman call
"YZERMAN SCORES!!! Detroit wins the game! Detroit wins the series! And they go on! This is over!"
"OHH BABY FORSURE"
I was born in 69, so naturally Bob was all I've every heard. It's definitely going to be different now 😩 CONGRATS ON 50 YEARS BOB! YOU WILL BE MISSED!
" GO LEAFS GO "
My favourite Bob Cole call is the Joe Sakic 5-2 goal in the gold medal Olympic Final in 2002.
Once again Dangle makes it about himself somehow
Je-ooo Sakic....2002 Olympic gold medal game!
JEEEOOOOOO SAKIC!
