I came across an area where there is an apex Stormbird and an apex Dreadwing circling each other. Its basically hell and a no go area. I don't know how you deal with it. These Slaughterspines and Thunderjaws etc. are easy if you just shoot from a distance and stay out of their range
That’s where the drone is too, right in the same valley as the slaughter spine and some kangaroo bots. Ended up falling off the cliff trying to get the drone and when I got back there at night, there was an apex slaughter spine. Took ages to take him down with everything I had on me.
As much of a beast as Slaughterspines are, I think the Shellsnappers are a worse fight. Their burrowing and bellyflopping can be such a pain to deal with

I tried to get all tails I need from the apes I needed to fight in Quests and bought every Tailduster some merchant offered, so that I can steer clear of those things :) They are so frigging mobile.. Like in ZD I bought the best Ropecaster as soon as it was available and prioritized its upgrades. If I time it right and aim well a Behemoths (even Apex) needs 2-3 ropes.. But those squirmy apes always jump away... Next playthrough I prioritize Cauldron Chi and then I just override them, shoot of the tail and flee (with a fast travel pack if I have too :)

First time I saw this badboy I immediately charged him. Didn't scan him. Didn't set traps. Didn't sneak up to him. No prep at all. At this point I was in "battle junky" mode and wanted smoke with everything Apex. An 8 minute battle and almost died twice because I was not ready to throw hands with this one. I won in the end, found a campfire and took a break.

Yeah i dunno, slaughterspines and thunderjaws are usually located in valleys/areas where you can shoot them from vantage points. It's usually a bad idea to tackle them head-on. imo, the trickier ones are the fast moving machines in open areas like scorcher, fireclaw, stormbird, stalker

lol i somehow glitched it, i dove in the water and it followed then when i came back up so did it but now it was swimming in air but froze in place, so i just snipped it from far
That happened to me while looking for Goose Feathers ;) There is a Thunderjaw living south from this one lake... a Thunderjaw that is not on the map. One moment I finally shot that goose, talking to my husband about how nonchalant those geese walk around and the next moment , I was run down and killed by an Apex Thunderjaw before even realizing it was there :) My husband sure had something to laugh about ;) (He didn't see that Thunderjaw either!)
I still think the thunderjaw is the hardest one to kill. But this dude is badass! Looks great and the music change. The slaughter spine is my new favorite
Yea it definitely depends. At least with Thunderjaws you just keep picking at weapon components, here you knock the tail and I think that’s it 😂 But depends on the way I fight that day that makes all the difference
Dude use a firebomb.... Gather a lot of Blast paste..... They go down easy with that. And you can use a plasma bolt caster along with it.... Easy peasy. No need of running around so much... Love the spear throw btw. Kudos to that. Cheers. 👍
I wouldn't count on it... If Sylens REALLY wanted Aloy dead.. That might not end well and i it does that would only be the case because Aloy does have some friends while Sylens seems to never go deeper as making an alliance and even stupid people will be aware that he will betray that "understanding" as soon as it serves him. But Aloy should try and stay on good terms with him.

@Game Dude agreed. I normally try to have a disc launcher beforehand when I take on a thunderjaw. I will say the laser chain guns are really really fun to use even though they're only good for tripping machines. Makes me feel like a T800 or Rambo lol
It still astonishes me how this game didn’t even break 90 from “critics”, but some janky controls, janky animated, bland, non-existent story, game that runs like a PS3 game such as Elden Ring is being praised and is overshadowing this masterpiece. I guess biases will do that to people though. Look at the user scores of both games, and that’s even with Horizon being review bombed.

How did you freeze a machine 3 or 4 times with an advanced impact arrows? Is it some legendary coil? I have only one legendary coil that causes instant acid but it has only 3% chance, you did it 4 times and it’s more than 3 or 4% lol

It’s actually not that bad. It’s the one boss that has the largest weak spots and all you need is a hunter bow with all component tear and his weapons will be done in no time

i would like to play hzd on PC but my PC is a potato xdd, i think there is not a skill to easy loot machines, but there is a skill to easy loot plants, however in the settings you can activate easy loot in general, it doesn't afect trophies.

Lower the values a bit for many of the pieces and/or raise the total allowed...im sure some games could run long but I've been eaten alive faster that thought possible. Machine Strike was my favorite part of the game.
That is not quite true. There is this valor surge: "Trap Specialist" skill it full up, use some food, armor or weaves to max out Trap limit, put them in the patrol paths, activate the valor surge and watch the magic. With 8 advanced blast traps the Apex Slaughterspine goes down with a few Sharpshot Hunter Arrows before it even targets me, using 4 Elite and 4 Advanced Blast traps it only needs one braced Shot (I use the Delta Sharpshotbow) to go down. Its the coward way but it works great and since I get tons of traps for free by playing and looting and hardly use them for anything but now and then to separate a Rebel rider from its mount while I move already on to the next... They are a good way to farm Apex Slaughterspine hearts ;)

Apex Aloy is the most dangerous machine in the entire Forbidden West. By far. Countless attacks and weapons too.

For Thunderjaw, knock off its disc launchers and machine guns next to its cheeks. After that, it becomes easy.

I normally just take them out long distance. If you hide behind a large boulder it blocks many (not all) of their attacks. But that’s not really fun.

try doing the arena quests to get the legendary equipment
Traps are so useless I never use them , they almost never give me an advantage especially for a big ass machine like that.

That is not quite true.
There is this valor surge:
"Trap Specialist" skill it full up, use some food, armor or weaves to max out Trap limit, put them in the patrol paths, activate the valor surge and watch the magic.
With 8 advanced blast traps the Apex Slaughterspine goes down with a few Sharpshot Hunter Arrows before it even targets me, using 4 Elite and 4 Advanced Blast traps it only needs one braced Shot (I use the Delta Sharpshotbow) to go down.
Its the coward way but it works great and since I get tons of traps for free by playing and looting and hardly use them for anything but now and then to separate a Rebel rider from its mount while I move already on to the next...
They are a good way to farm Apex Slaughterspine hearts ;)
Fireclaws are wayy harder.
