Airflow/faster draining aside, best practice for oil change is to remove the fill plug first and then remove the drain plug. If you drain the oil out of something and then can't refill the oil because the plug is stuck, you're in a bad spot. This mostly goes for cars and trucks (especially differentials, and transfer cases), but is definitely best practice across the board.
Motorkote is not about increasing performance, but about increasing longevity. His compressor should theoretically outlast one without Motorkote after same amount of cycles or hours. See Project Farm's videos about lubricity testing.
How often should you change the oil? I’m sorry if it said in the video I had to skip quickly while at work. Thankyou I’ll definitely be coming back to the video for reference.
@@smallenginesgarage7168 because most mechanical devices need lubrication to function properly, and not providing it makes them either cheap or very limited in performance.
You have a sight glass then you don’t need to measure how much oil you put in. Besides, you don’t have to tilt the whole compressor to drain the oil. The drainage hole is already put at the lowest level.
So if this window with the red point is the oil gauge, how is the read on it ( suppose that level must be over or NOT UNDER the red point,,, Can you confirm ??
I have never owned 20 gallon air compressor daughter bought it for dad God rest his soul and I thought my farm working friend was a little smarter than he was doing the day I picked up he was thinking about it not break the plastic cover round the moter rit looked smart to lay it over but time we got home oil naturally drained out lol again I thought he new better anyways I had to get compressor oil I think I might've over filled I put it all in I haven't plugged it up yet but vehicles are better to low oil than to full do I need drain some out SOME WOMEN R PRETTY DUMB BUT I NEED SOME ONE TO PLEASE LET NO WHERE DO I FILL IT TO
I just changed my oil for the first time in 15 years after I heard the compressor sounding funny. It came out thick and black at first then runny and clear looking then back to black now my only problem is trying to figure out how much oil to put in it. Lol. So I was watching this video to try and figure that out. Ow well.

I really need basic videos! Nothing is too basic for many of us newbies> Thanks for making this video!
Thanks for the video. I have the same compressor and I think an oil change is long over due. Appreciate it!
How's the comp holding up with the Motorkote? Increased performance or Snake oil . . . Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks!!!helps to see it if you've never done it before.
Was the oil fill capacity 16 oz?
We all need basic videos , thank you.
thanks - helpful. Can't get motorkote in UK.

Every 300 hrs
Christopher Spark ; What if I've had it for 10 years and only put 30 hours on it?
@@hastabyebye manual says every 3 months or ......
What kind of oil do u use.
You can also release the water out of the tank underneath it!
Great work Ed
can i use ATF for air compressor oil ?
Good video. Very informative. Thank you.
Thank you Jimmy
Great video. thank you for sharing.
Great video. I just done this. Tick!
nice job, thank you for sharing !
Oil capacity depends from how hp and air litres has the compressor, as an example a toros em 50l/2hp needs 250 ml sae 30 api-sj/cd
I would of put that oil back in it was nice and clean.
I was thinking of asking for it.
great vid!!! keep em coming!!! neccessary!
Thank u much appreciated
Are compressors without oil better?
No, they are either cheaper or used when air has to be good grade. For general performance oiled compressors are typically much better
@@AlessioSangalli why

@@AlessioSangalli i use my oilles compressor only for blowing air and pumping tires
@@smallenginesgarage7168 that's pretty much what an oil-less is supposed to be good for 👍

Well done.
Thanks, enjoyed the video.
My site glass is old and dark I can't see how much is in there how can I tell if it's over the mark
Over mark lol I think I need to drain it out down to a mark I didn't look for so where is this mark please help

On my 60gal compressor i can get a great deal of extra oil out if I tilt it (which is a two men job)
It doesn't hurt to give it a little tilt

@@martindesmarais7158 Oil level should be on the red dot. (middle).
@@AlessioSangalli Just ask Jack to lift it, she's very strong, lifts cars and trucks!!!
The General Expert had his compressor overfilled before the change....
Thats the general for you
Thank You!
I just gave the 1K like.
I did this today and spilt oil all over my parent's concrete tiled driveway. The funnel didn't work well and I didn't tilt it.
do it on a hill. You can buy chemicals to help remove oil off concrete, try lots of Dawn dish soap too and pressure washer
Why is the compressor full of oil?! You should only fill to half way up the indicator window.
my sight glass is completely useless at this point. can't see anything through it. it honestly looks like metal instead of glass/plastic
USE ONLY 20W40 or 50 MINERAL....
You don’t need to tilt it

You should probably flush it with diesel before putting new oil in.
