The owners manual is a good place to start for sump size, viscosity, change intervals, etc. The two compressors in the video use less than a quart combined, so changing them every couple years is very economical. Of course, 10HP would be a much larger unit. For service life, AMSOIL recommends this product up to 8000 hours. I change mine every two years. Hope that helps. Yes, if you mean the pipe coming out of the compressor itself, that can get very hot. Too hot to touch.
