Thanks...my sons Absima AB 3.4 was making a very nasty juddering noise...thanks to you it made me look at the spur gear and I found a tiny rock had become embedded into the plastic of the spur gear...quick penknife job and a lube with WD40..sorted!👍🏻🙂
This helped me a lot. I just spent 2 hours fixing my RC after months of no use, and the minute i put it back on the track it started making this weird noise. looks like i have to replace my spur gear!
great video sir. u just saved me some money and I went and checked the spur in my 4x4 slash and sure enough it's the spur gear.. no wonder seeing how in runnin the castle sidewinder 8th in it. which is a 8th scale brushless system on 4s. lol.. insane power. but was gonna go to hobby town USA today an buy all new tranny and diff gears.. and now I just need to buy a 10 dollar spur gear. just getting back into racing an fast rcs.. I mainly run my scalers. have a few wraith and scx10s.. and they all have steel spur gesrs.. may be what I do to this beast anyway thanks a ton for this helpful video
I am new to the hobby grade RC game. I experienced my first nasty sound the other day bashing around in the back yard with the kiddo. After just saying f it and digging in, i found i stripped the spur gear. This video would have been hella helpful and i hope it finds more RC noobs BEFORE or after they experience these issues. thank you very much.
Thanks for the video, the fourth sound spur gear stripped, that’s what my car makes and the spur gear mesh and all are brand new and are not stripped, it seems like it’s coming from the diff. It’s on a traxxas slash 4x4 and it’s a bad noise. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much
Well I probably just have sand or something in my trans or diff. It is more of a gritty noise. I just stopped running it and I am going to pull it apart tomorrow. Does bad bears make a gritty noise? I oiled them a little while ago but I have been running in snow. The bearings are at least 3 or 4 years old and are original bearing but in that time, I oiled them at least 5-8 times. I am just a numb but I understand how to fix a regular car so rc is fairly just gears and like you said, making sure everything runs smoothly. I really liked how you made the noises with the rc and now I know what noises to listen for. It shouldn't be a problem for me besides the spur gear, I know mine is getting worn and eventually it will go out. I may just put a new spur in and use the old as a backup.
Awesome, thanks for the videos... Now I know what each sound is.. A barking deep sound is Diff and a higher pitched squel is slipper got it now!!!! I was going in the wrong direction thinking it was always slipper...
Need some help with my ftx ramraider, 3s brushless. I'm having problems with power getting to the ground, wheels partially spinning.. I've checked the diff screw, seems OK, gears look OK, from what I can see all looks OK, such a puzzle!
My New E-Firestorm ate my spur gear, but i managed to still use by adjusting the mesh. It sound bad but it will do until i get a new spur.. I just can figure out the perfect Slipper Clutch setting.
one noise that has pissed me off beyond no end with a gear diff i had to rebuild twice whenever i go through a corner and give it throttle it has a high pitched chirping so i bought the B-fast ball diff best thing i ever did
i have the slash 2wd amd was wondering if you can like tighten the rod that the pinion is on becuase my pinion is tight on the rod but the rod is loose inside the engine & i don't know what to do with it
So when your spur gear is just now starting to go bad it will sound a little less severe than that right cuz the sound that I'm hearing is most similar to that last one that you did it's just not as severe
Hi, I’ve got the noise that sounds similar to the loose spur. But my Spur is tight. The noise is not there when I throttle the truck with free spinning wheels. But the sound is there then I throttle the truck with wheels on ground. I’ve replaced the main spur to a metal one and the sound is still there...The truck is a remo hobby Batman truck. Solid axle Monster truck
I have a question my truck is loud and does not wheelie right when I punch the throttle like it used to it takes longer now to hit high speed. What is the problem?
its too bad for new guys that RC has died so much. when i was young, there was RC tracks all over, even in tiny nowhere towns. now that the Technology is so far advanced it would be that much more fun, but the tracks, clubs & shops are 95% gone. another thing the internet killed i guess. Even the local hobby shop in Western MA closed after like 30 years in business, i loved that place. i cant recall my first car, but i remember a hornet, & a lunch box, grasshopper, man its been a long time since then. god only knows how many Rotary speed controllers ive melted in my time :)
My axial scx 10 slammed into a tree and makes a quiet popping sound when pushed or ran on batteries the sound seems loudest at the transmission. Any idea what it is?
I just got a traxxas stampede for Christmas and I think the slipper clutch works like when I try to climb something like perhaps a stair and it won't move and it will kinda rev up. What's a slipper clutch for and what's it's purpose?
I have a thunder tiger MT4G3 and one of the differentials is stripped out. But I´m not sure if it´s the rear, center or front diff.... Any hint to figure it out? Great video dude!
Hey man; maybe you have run to my problem. Runs fine, just started to make a clicking noise specifically when I go from back to forth a single click. Not sure what's wrong any tips? I have no experience taking it apart and dont want to mess with something else much less drive it to avoid further damage.
BeyondBr1aNn88 YT the differential allows one wheel to move slower than the other so you can turn easily. The slipper clutch lets the motor move without the car moving but only when you go full throttle to stop you from ruining your gears.
Good video. I am having trouble with my sc10.2, more specifically the ball diff. I have tried one gear diff built by an ex- team associated 1/2 sponsored driver, one 10.2 kit ball diff and two MIP ball diffs that were broke in and never ran on the track. First, let me say that I have had this truck for 3 months and never has ANY diff worked correctly. They have all been built to spec and were completely smooth when placed into the transmission case. Each time, a new idler gear, new ball bearings, new balls (both diff and thrust) and new rings were used. Each time, the ball diff would go straight and have zero noise but while turning, it would have a grinding sound. Again, it was broke in on the work bench before ever hitting any hard surface and then started at 50% EPA. I am pissed off, broke and lost. Any help would be much appreciated. If you have good information, please send me a private message on Facebook to Tony Dugan of Rutland, OH. Facebook has a picture of me and my wife. I am the big ugly one and she is the hot one.
question when I drive my truck it will drive but some times it will lock the back wheels up and make a grinding noise any thing that I could do to make it stop the grinding noise
What is wrong with the car if you give it gas but all you can hear is the fan maybe the engine turning? Idk how to describe it but it just makes a noise when giving it gas especially going backwards on light throttle... it still works but it's never made this noise before
I always come back to this video when I change my pinion/spur gear. Thanks for the help!
thanks I had mine set too loose after rebuilding my 3 differentials - Thanks for the Video!
I'm ready for racing now!
Your video really helped me find the transmission problem with my Bandit. Thanks!
Great video , only just found this channel . Thumbs up ................
Great Video you have explained all that I need to know about servicing RC. BIG UP!!!

Thanks for reassuring me that my stampede probably only needs a spur gear after doing 360s in the rain, and hopefully not a differential.
Thanks man great video, I hate when guys talk to long to explain things. You was very To the point and very informative. Thanks again!
Awesome thank you .
This helped me a lot. I just spent 2 hours fixing my RC after months of no use, and the minute i put it back on the track it started making this weird noise. looks like i have to replace my spur gear!
slipping diff sounds like a duck call lol
great video sir. u just saved me some money and I went and checked the spur in my 4x4 slash and sure enough it's the spur gear.. no wonder seeing how in runnin the castle sidewinder 8th in it. which is a 8th scale brushless system on 4s. lol.. insane power. but was gonna go to hobby town USA today an buy all new tranny and diff gears.. and now I just need to buy a 10 dollar spur gear. just getting back into racing an fast rcs.. Yes! Long live the Stadium Truck. I have never had one, but I've always wanted to get a T4.1, or even now the 22T. xD
Awesome!! Great Info!!
what golden information dude. im a noob at this hobby. helped a bunch. i appriciate u making this video. from indonesia with love !
Well fucking thank u now i know what's up with my rc ,2 hrs of taking it apart and still could not fined out what was wrong .thanx i sub
Good info! I’m still running a T3 and started having trouble with the slipper clutch
Definitely made those necessary changes in the clutch and differential. just needed to be tightened a bit more. Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much
this was really great info.i just got into racing.good to know.thank you.
great explanation. My slash is sounds good and is running great!
This video helped me a lot ty. Great job

Mine used to sound like the 1st one, doesnt sound like it anymore tho. I think i have a stripped spur gear. Thanks so much that helped A LOT

My rustler clicks loudly. I'm new to rc cars. Thanks for the helpful video.
mixflip same
@@miguelboisvert7375 my slash kept clicking and i replaced the differential and now it works fine and doesn't make the noise
@@logans2902 my stampede is clicking I swapped the spur and it’s still there and I just disassembled my diff and it looks fine
Nice video!!
my rc10t4.1 sounds like it has a stripped spur gear but when i checked it was fine any suggestions.

Just bought rampage r/c 4wd car, first timer yesterday. My car is not moving and it is making a constant beep when you push the throttle down.

Exactly. I’ve started to fix my dads 6-8yrs old Traxxas rc and I’m currently trying to figure out what make a rattling noise in the rear of the car
My axial scx 10 slammed into a tree and makes a quiet popping sound when pushed or ran on batteries the sound seems loudest at the transmission. Any idea what it is?
thanks for the tips ive just found out i had a stripped spur geare :D thanks to you :D
Why have you not gotten the b5 yet I have the b5m and I love mine so much steering and jumps amazing
I like how free and smooth your shocks seem to be, are you using or avoiding green slime? what shock oil is that? Thanks for the vids!
Ahhhh a bad spur gear is my issue... thanks man
When I give a light tap throttle it drags in slow turns and sounds like a spur or motor clogging sound.
I have exact same noise of That last sound, what stuff do i need to change or fix then?!
noise was there after 1 of my shocks caps was broken😞
My 22sct is making a clicking noise after a hard landing...rebuilt diff.....still does it any ideas?
Thanks man
Whats ur shock oil weight?
Nice video
haha I was just about to make a post saying this. luckily i read the other comments first! haha'
Good vid again racer
I just got a traxxas stampede for Christmas and I think the slipper clutch works like when I try to climb something like perhaps a stair and it won't move and it will kinda rev up. What's a slipper clutch for and what's it's purpose?
Fox-E (Bonzai) its so the trans is not locked to the motor it gives it some slipping so when u punch it it wont strip ur gears
Thanks! This helped a lot
Thank you very much for this video my spur gear is broken but i dont know hot to replace it please help
RC SPORTS you could just buy another spur gear online.
My rustler don’t work in reverse the pinion slips on the clutch help
Just came across this - well explained, good demonstration. Solid video!
I have a thunder tiger MT4G3 and one of the differentials is stripped out. But I´m not sure if it´s the rear, center or front diff.... Any hint to figure it out? Great video dude!
Yes, remove front or back driveshaft, see if problem persists or not.

What is the Diff? Is it the slipper clutch?
BeyondBr1aNn88 YT the differential allows one wheel to move slower than the other so you can turn easily. The slipper clutch lets the motor move without the car moving but only when you go full throttle to stop you from ruining your gears.
My car sound like none of these but it still sounds like death
Thanks. Now I know something is wrong with the spur!!!
awesome info!
What if it sound like a turbo whistle
what was that weird sound YOU made at 00:03 LOL
I don't understand the difference between a slipping slipper clutch and an engaged slipper clutch. They both sound the same to me too.

My RC in the back end is making a strange clicking noise, it is not too loud, but you can still here a clicking. Do you know wha it could be?
you found out what it was
@feckasaurus Glad I was able to help.

+Nathaniel Pittman ok thx 👌
Mostly used for drifting and rock crawling
Thank God I got rid of my R/C...
wat do a slipper clutch Eliminator do
Gets rid of the slipper clutch.
my b5m when I hit full throttle only on take off sounds like its slipping it has a 13.5 motor any ideas why
Try replacing the 3-point thing in the diff, if you don't want to, take it apart and grease it up, that's what I did in my kit car Tamyaina
Josh Porter thanks man I'll try that out
Good luck wherever you're from!
slipping diff LOL
My idler gear is striped :(
I have almost a plastic rubbing sound
good help
Slipping clutch sounds like a wet duck fart.
Its constant while driving......
Good vid man, thanks. On another topic... What's with this crazy bastard talking about mind control in the comments lol
My Traxxas stampede is not doing wheelies help me
Carlos Mojica tighten the slipper
1 of the sounds sounds like a walrus
+ThatRCguy75 That's the "barking" diff. Bad sound, loose diff.
