Congratulations. Exciting times. We bought an early 1970 house. Full renovation. Did it all ourselves except kitchen. Bought new one and got it fitted. We tiled ourselves, and we have quarter acre land, which we landscaped ourselves. It has taken 4 years but was well worth the investment.

Thank you! Your renovation journey sounds amazing, we’re hoping to do as much as we can ourselves. It’s early days for us but we’re hoping to create a lovely home x

@peexo, thank you. Amazing, but hard work. It's so rewarding, the pride you feel, and it reminds you of all the hard hours grafting. We appreciate it all the more. You will get it exactly how you want. We fitted our woodburner last Oct, and we live out in the country, so it's so cosy. I look forward to your journey. ❤

@@jillianmartin6335 I’m certain we will have many ups and downs throughout the process but I’m looking forward to doing it all and sharing the process. Thank you again for your lovely message and optimism 😊

Perhaps you could make the kitchen a utility room and pantry (or utility/ downstairs loo), and turn the dining room into a kitchen/diner. Lots of potential, lots to think about! Best of luck.

Those original doors have great potential. I had a 30s terrace in East Midlands it had only one original feature a cupboard door.

Other than the bathroom this is very similar to the first house we bought in West London in 1979. We knocked down the wall between the dining room and the kitchen as with 3 children it was much more practical for us. I wish you well as you make this house your home

We viewed a lot of houses before we found this one and I noticed a lot of houses in London have very similar layouts. Thank you for your well wishes!

Thank you! Lots of suggestions saying this and we’ve definitely thought about it but the wall between the two is load bearing so it’s more costly to do and not in budget currently. Hopefully in the future we will be to!

l have the same kind of kitchen and find things in easy reach, but it may not do for you both and decide to knock a wall down making the space larger.

Admittedly, we both wanted a larger kitchen but we compromised on the size of the kitchen for bigger rooms. We hope to reconfigure things (as much as possible) and make a galley kitchen work for us.

Well done. Love the bedroom windows and picture rails - so much character.
The kitchen wall to the dining room is begging to be knocked down! Although I say that as someone who now has a large kitchen and hate the layout but can't stomach the cost of moving everything. Miss my previous galley kitchen with its simple practical choices! Looking forward to seeing what you do.

Thank you! The windows and picture rails were also some of my favourite features of the house, as it’s a 1930’s house I’m keen to keep as many original features as possible. The wall between the kitchen and dining room is load bearing so it’s a bit more complicated and costly to remove straight away so we’re going to try and make the most of the galley kitchen for now
