- Isle Tuamotu is a cinematic short film I worked on for several weeks. This film showcases the beautiful Tuamotu islands throughout French Polynesia.
I have wanted to produce underwater films like this for years but never really gave it any effort behind the camera or in front of the computer. Still, after countless hours and over 80 different clips, I finally put together my first cinematic short film!
All shots were filmed in French Polynesia within 3 different islands in the Tuamotu Archipelago. Almost everything was filmed while freediving, but a few shots required scuba diving. I hope you enjoy the film as much as me!

its really inspiring to see the quality of the shots you were able to get while freediving. do you have any tips for how to capture such amazing footage freediving vs on scuba?
Practice for sure! Just being comfortable with the breath hold is super important. Usually most those shots you need to get down and sit there for a bit to allow wildlife to come close! Take a freediving class if you haven't already!
@@JoshDaMunoz do you rely on hands-free EQ? otherwise, how do you move around with your rig with one hand for equalization?
@@alexngai uhg I wish I could hands-free EQ. Sadly I cant. So a lot of the clips I try and stay in the same place in the water column so I can keep the camera as steady as possible. Thankfully usually if you slow down clips it can help remove some of the camera shakes if you cant keep your handles stable!

Beautifully done. What mm lens do you like most underwater?
I’ve used the 16-35mm the most underwater. And it’s for sure your safest bet.
But using the 70mm was super fun and I loved the depth of field you get. But it’s still limiting. If things are too close you might not capture what you want exactly.
