32G in 5090 (for 2k dollars), cheaper 5080 starts with 16. So they are useless for running AI locally. Yet competition does nothing. First 64G high-bandwidth card would crash NVidia. 128G would annihilate it. VRAM is cheap, so I don't get why everybody is letting NVidia deliberately throttle consumer memory size to jack prices on their server cards to an even more absurd amounts.

Thor Chip ist the Most important part of this Presentation for me. IT IS known for a Long Time but i dient expect IT to be that small. IT IS 20 Times better Performance than orin Chips. Which IS currebtly used by robotics and Automouse Cars.
Mac's have AI chips in them, so for a long time they were a great solution for somebody wanting a lot of VRAM to fit AI models, while still having decent performance (400 GB/s bandwidth), and which doesn't consume a kilowatt of power. This is NVidia's alternative to that.

Don't even follow why consumer GPUs are rated by "AI TOPS". Sure imagine users would run all kinds of AI based tasked, like hallucinating pixels in photoshop, and video editing software. But for a GPU, I am mostly interested in how fast it can draw 3D scenes with unhallucinated pixels.
TBH rn a good “high end “ card is the 4090. Most games would run effortlessly on that. If the 5070 has that performance at like 1/3 of the cost isn’t that the best GPU until games become harder to run

The improvement of AI seems to be looking like its logarithmic, at least regarding current LLMs and the direction its going. Which means that brute force will not solve the problem of improvement slowdown. AI is based on large amounts of useful training data. They have already poisoned the well of useful data on the internet by making their tools available easily to everyone, so you are seeing AI model incest become a problem.

Also RT just still is bit gimmigy still most features can be faked on other technigues and sometimes same bi better result without paying insane gpu prices. I have seen like 2 or 3 games where it works well but also those game are optimozed better. For non optimized games the dlss can help a bit but dont remove issue thar game is badly programmed and optimized. If games that ready utilize RT cery well also would have been made good we would not even need insane dsll stuff

32G in 5090 (for 2k dollars), cheaper 5080 starts with 16. So they are useless for running AI locally. Yet competition does nothing. First 64G high-bandwidth card would crash NVidia. 128G would annihilate it. VRAM is cheap, so I don't get why everybody is letting NVidia deliberately throttle consumer memory size to jack prices on their server cards to an even more absurd amounts.

Yes, basically enough processor to get you cheap accesso to the GPU, which is all many developers need. Great at-home AI setup.

Mac's have AI chips in them, so for a long time they were a great solution for somebody wanting a lot of VRAM to fit AI models, while still having decent performance (400 GB/s bandwidth), and which doesn't consume a kilowatt of power. This is NVidia's alternative to that.

Don't even follow why consumer GPUs are rated by "AI TOPS". Sure imagine users would run all kinds of AI based tasked, like hallucinating pixels in photoshop, and video editing software. But for a GPU, I am mostly interested in how fast it can draw 3D scenes with unhallucinated pixels.

TBH rn a good “high end “ card is the 4090. Most games would run effortlessly on that. If the 5070 has that performance at like 1/3 of the cost isn’t that the best GPU until games become harder to run

The improvement of AI seems to be looking like its logarithmic, at least regarding current LLMs and the direction its going. Which means that brute force will not solve the problem of improvement slowdown. AI is based on large amounts of useful training data. They have already poisoned the well of useful data on the internet by making their tools available easily to everyone, so you are seeing AI model incest become a problem.

Also RT just still is bit gimmigy still most features can be faked on other technigues and sometimes same bi better result without paying insane gpu prices. I have seen like 2 or 3 games where it works well but also those game are optimozed better. For non optimized games the dlss can help a bit but dont remove issue thar game is badly programmed and optimized. If games that ready utilize RT cery well also would have been made good we would not even need insane dsll stuff
