One thing watching this channel has taught me as a non-trucker is just how important it is to yield and give room to these Semi Trucks. I had no idea just how much they could weigh with a full load on.

I used to drive reefer. Trust me you get used to the sound of the reefer. It becomes like white noise after a while. And when you are dead tired and sleepy you will fall asleep.
They mask a lot of sleep-interrupting noise, and inexperienced drivers don’t like to park next to them so you’re more likely to have a good spot with a good night of sleep.
I've watched ONE of your videos a week or so ago and I am now OBSESSED with becoming a truck driver. Pretty sure I have only watched trucking videos for a straight week now.
They give a BOL for a reason. Tells u what u have, the weight, and the ADDRESS. Have to look at that and any discrepancy call ur dispatch. But always read the BOL
I picked up garlic in Gilroy & they lied on tha BOL's & I paid tha price @ uh scale in Quartzite AZ. I wuz 1600 over gross & had 2 unload that sh1t on2 anutha truck & still got fined. So my advice is weigh every muthaF'n load!! It took me about 5 years 2 pay off that ticket....✌🏽😐❤️
Oh, those coils are not bad. I haul them all the time. What it is, is that drivers don't secure them properly. I always use like 6 more straps than I do coils. Never moved on me ever
Hello Alex, those coils that you were hauling will become rebar they put them through a machine straighten out the coil and cut the rebar to length I worked for a bar company, drove flatbed and hauled a lot of those coils .
I only watch him to see how much harder he can make it look, and then rage quit at the end of every vid cause he won’t have time to do yoga. This kids hilarious. Kermit the frog owes him money.
Alex my guy PLEASE trip plan before leaving. It takes less than 10 minutes and it'll save you hours of time later on. Would've let you know the road you needed to take was under construction among other things.
You do know they always announce construction especially if it's quick repairs or something, you can't always trip plan for a delay 500 miles away.....

Hell my company has an app that shows construction on roads as well as accidents and roads being blocked by flooding. If you are going to rely on gps for directions you should get a rand McNally or a garmin trucking gps. As it will only take you down semi approved routes
Definitely speed the money for a commerical truck gps it will save you head aches and damage to your or the company rig to keep you out of places a cmv is not to be especially @ night.
I just found your channel, It's neat! I bet driving that automatic makes life a breeze lol. I'm honestly a huge supporter for them. They just seem safer to drive sine you can focus on the road more. And now these days there's literally no excuse for someone to not get into truck driving. I've seen the money that can be made and it's pretty amazing.
I like his videos i have been following since CFI but it still drives me crazy that every company he works for he "demands" to only work till 3 or 4 pm like what! It doesnt work like that in trucking. My hours change multiple times a week
I drove a truck for 29 years and watching this Guy cracks me up I've never had the dot wake me up at a truck stop they usually parked out side of the driveway waiting for you to pull out after fueling or what ever he does make it difficult sometimes this guy relays or GPS to much I'd always call the shipper or receiver and get directions 😂😂
Two of my sons were truckers, Now they’re into other jobs, But trucking got them started and they continue to use their CDL licenses have helped advance their current positions.
My eld on all deliveries have hours of business. That is why i call them ahead of time after picking up the load to see the earliest delivery time. The early you delivery the sooner you can get the next load. That shutting down at 3pm everyday is a joke.
Ive learned so many useful small tips from watching your videos like Parking next to curbs if you can at a truck stop or staying away from noisy old reefer trailers, aswell as schedule management and the way you run OTR is commendable and obviously less stressful than just winging it and driving hard. Good stuff man

I enjoyed sleeping by the reefers- it was like white noise but also had me worried I wouldn't hear my surroundings as well so it's double sided. Keep your head up!
Start-stop on them is annoying tho, lol. I pull them right now, it's something you get used to, I don't mind them for the most part either, helps drown out all the morons flying through the truck stop at 2am
Ive been running a local route for the last two years. Watching this makes me really miss OTR. Love that feeling of pulling in to an empty ruck stop knowing that im free to do whatever i want for the next 10 hours. (I actually always took 11 hour brakes)

When You come up on Construction, and Your Destination is Part in The Construction Zone. Ask the Construction Workers what Alternate Path do they Have for You.

Reefer unit, the sound of my people. I drove reefer for around 7 years, you get used to it, drowns out all the idling trucks, APU's, and general truck traffic.

Shutting down at 2:45pm after only driving 130 miles??? You're getting paid to drive. Your employer wants the load there at 8am. Keep driving!!! Also Its your fault would didn't check the address your were given to the address on the paperwork. Then on top of it all, you are late picking up your second load because you shut down early the day before and ended up being late to the first delivery. Perhaps you should re-think your driving hours and get the job done?
Getting paid by the MILE, not by the hour, getting paid by the mile, you drive like you want too. You decide how much you want to drive. Getting paid by the Hour is much different.

Just in case some don’t have a clue what all this means; Drivers are the ones that know when they can arrive somewhere, not some Moron sitting at a computer calling himself a Driver Manager 😂 that’s never driven a truck before. Professional Truck drivers don’t need a driver manager, Professional Truck Drivers need a Dispatcher that knows how to dispatch loads that make the driver money, not crazy 100 mile an hour loads where you have to run over grandma in a wheelchair or Crash 💥 and burn 🔥 in a ditch loads, so the driver manager can get his QUARTERLY BONUS, biggest mistake Corporate ever made was allowing driver managers to CRASH TRUCKS. With the Newer drivers of course.
The safest lane to drive in, especially in a big city, is ALWAYS the middle lane. Right lane will usually have lanes merging INTO it. Although rare, left lane(passing lane) can sometimes have lanes merging OUT as well. Rule of thumb is you don't want to be stuck in outer lanes due to traffic merging in/out and motorists not understanding how merge lanes work which usually causes sudden dead stops due to low brain cells. Middle lane = safe lane.
You really need to learn*"BRIDGE LAWS"* Or one of these days you will get a big fine! Its not hard. The length you're allowed for each state is right in the trucker atlas/Map book.! QUIT GUESSING if you're legal or not. Make a mark of some kind where 41 foot is on the trailer you have.🖋🖋 And if you have a window on the blind side on your sleeper, use it for blindside backups. If you have power mirrors. use it to adjust your passenger side mirror to see better while blindside backups.😁
To figure out what time it is in regular hours compared to military hours, you have to subtract from 12. Say like @ 17:00 hrs, you have to subtract 17 from 12 then the answer is 5, that’s what time it would be in regular hours. I got into military hours, cause my mom used to be a RN @ a hospital in Billings, Montana.
There is an easier way ,for example 1300 is 1pm 1400 is 2pm so all u have to do is 13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24...so basically all in order is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 ect ect no need for subtraction just remember the zeros at the end..
Some of these GP deliveries seem no better than ones I've seen issued to Owner/Operators by brokers, poor info, bad locations, delays in loading....not sure working for a company like GP is any better than what the Owner/Operators go through with brokers, but at least they're making more money.

Where you pick up those coils, the town is called Johnstown, PA. Litteraly not far from where I live and you're right about there not being many truck stops around. There is a Rutters now in Bedford, PA which isn't far from Johnstown that they just built that is trucker friendly.

fun fact them big rod rolls at the beginning is similar to what i work with when i was working at a fence factory i was the first line of production where we would put the big giant rod rolls on to a stand and cut the bands off and it'll do its thing and we find the top end and stick it to the side of the rool put the stand up and then after we take the top end on that stand and weld it to the bottom end the stand next to it that also had a big rod roll on it
No one is gonna pay a trucker $17k to deliver a 3/4 full trailer of rebar. That load probably banked his company 3-4k tops and he’s gonna make probably $800 max on the delivery. Product could be worth $17k though

Making Moonshine requires a water supply which is maybe the big pipe was for. As far as your truck about an hour from here is a Frieghtliner Plant so its a good chance it was made here. Freightliner better get their hands on to some universal scale sensors on board to calculate the weight from inside your cockpit, we got them in Europe that's why we don't necessarily need scales that often.
those are called steel coiled rod which will still go thru the nose or sides I haul these every week, those do NOT FORGIVE! Straps help but those walls aren’t meant to secure like a flatbed trailer stake pockets do
A good truck driver is the driver who can operate successfully without GPS! Only with road map. I'm 41 years old truck driver with 18 years of truck driving experience in Europe. I had 25kg weight of maps of all European countries, their capitol cities and other big cities with me. They were more detailed maps looking like a book - a road atlas!
Same thing as the last video. You need a class on trip planning for one. You are a liability at this point. No way if I'm told to be somewhere at 0800 and i have hours I'm stopping with that long of a drive the next day. You need to learn to plan your day not just figure it out later. You'll never lose the rookie status. Didn't even know 1730 had to count? Our whole industry is in military time. How have you still not learned it. Dude please seek help in bettering yourself in your trips so you stop embarrassing your self for one and two getting us to comment better. GP needs to help you before you cost them.

Reefer unit, the sound of my people. I drove reefer for around 7 years, you get used to it, drowns out all the idling trucks, APU's, and general truck traffic.

Shutting down at 2:45pm after only driving 130 miles??? You're getting paid to drive. Your employer wants the load there at 8am. Keep driving!!! Also Its your fault would didn't check the address your were given to the address on the paperwork. Then on top of it all, you are late picking up your second load because you shut down early the day before and ended up being late to the first delivery. Perhaps you should re-think your driving hours and get the job done?
Getting paid by the MILE, not by the hour, getting paid by the mile, you drive like you want too. You decide how much you want to drive. Getting paid by the Hour is much different.

When I expedited, it was run, run, run. Many times I ran 1200 miles in 48 hours. A 15 minute nap was a luxury. Now I'm home doing my own business.

The rule of 24hour clock vs 12hour clock. After 12 noon, just minis 12. 1700-12=5pm. 2300-12=11pm. 1500-12=3pm. Easy peasy, lol.

The safest lane to drive in, especially in a big city, is ALWAYS the middle lane. Right lane will usually have lanes merging INTO it. Although rare, left lane(passing lane) can sometimes have lanes merging OUT as well. Rule of thumb is you don't want to be stuck in outer lanes due to traffic merging in/out and motorists not understanding how merge lanes work which usually causes sudden dead stops due to low brain cells. Middle lane = safe lane.
You really need to learn*"BRIDGE LAWS"* Or one of these days you will get a big fine! Its not hard. The length you're allowed for each state is right in the trucker atlas/Map book.! QUIT GUESSING if you're legal or not. Make a mark of some kind where 41 foot is on the trailer you have.🖋🖋 And if you have a window on the blind side on your sleeper, use it for blindside backups. If you have power mirrors. use it to adjust your passenger side mirror to see better while blindside backups.😁

To figure out what time it is in regular hours compared to military hours, you have to subtract from 12. Say like @ 17:00 hrs, you have to subtract 17 from 12 then the answer is 5, that’s what time it would be in regular hours. I got into military hours, cause my mom used to be a RN @ a hospital in Billings, Montana.
There is an easier way ,for example 1300 is 1pm 1400 is 2pm so all u have to do is 13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24...so basically all in order is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 ect ect no need for subtraction just remember the zeros at the end..

Some of these GP deliveries seem no better than ones I've seen issued to Owner/Operators by brokers, poor info, bad locations, delays in loading....not sure working for a company like GP is any better than what the Owner/Operators go through with brokers, but at least they're making more money.

Where you pick up those coils, the town is called Johnstown, PA. Litteraly not far from where I live and you're right about there not being many truck stops around. There is a Rutters now in Bedford, PA which isn't far from Johnstown that they just built that is trucker friendly.
Up towards saginaw there's always parking if you go to he loves in Bridgeport Michigan that truck stop is big and never ever fills up ever

fun fact them big rod rolls at the beginning is similar to what i work with when i was working at a fence factory i was the first line of production where we would put the big giant rod rolls on to a stand and cut the bands off and it'll do its thing and we find the top end and stick it to the side of the rool put the stand up and then after we take the top end on that stand and weld it to the bottom end the stand next to it that also had a big rod roll on it

Funny seeing all these dual axle trailers, they are almost all tri-axle trailers in Australia.
Freightliner better get their hands on to some universal scale sensors on board to calculate the weight from inside your cockpit, we got them in Europe that's why we don't necessarily need scales that often.
Our Freightliners do have them
those are called steel coiled rod which will still go thru the nose or sides I haul these every week, those do NOT FORGIVE! Straps help but those walls aren’t meant to secure like a flatbed trailer stake pockets do

A good truck driver is the driver who can operate successfully without GPS! Only with road map. I'm 41 years old truck driver with 18 years of truck driving experience in Europe. I had 25kg weight of maps of all European countries, their capitol cities and other big cities with me. They were more detailed maps looking like a book - a road atlas!

No way if I'm told to be somewhere at 0800 and i have hours I'm stopping with that long of a drive the next day. You need to learn to plan your day not just figure it out later.
