Follow me on Insta: instagram.com/thefoodranger We’re off on our Sichuan street food journey! This is our first day of travel and the Sichuan food we experienced along the way. We met so many amazing people, and tried some delicious food! I would love to know what you thought of this video down below, so please leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you. We are venturing on a Sichuan food journey and eventually making our way South to Yunnan province and following the ancient tea horse road, also known as the Southern Silk Road! So far, it’s been amazing! Thanks a lot for watching and I hope you’re doing well, and eating well!
Thanks Trevor, for not only showing us unique delicious food but also showing us how a little appreciation can make the people happy and proud about their work.
That's true. When you see him talking to the people on the street, the Media stereotype about China fades instantly. What a beautiful people, friendly, hard workers, respectful, and so on. I think my next trip is going to be China, specially those non-city places where these people live in.
The dinner with kitchen view and chef comments is beyond anything. Great! The Tofu Beef dish, never seen before! Yeah, more chef interviews!!! This would be a help to anyone who is actually interested in cooking, right? It looks like the "small town" food isn't bad at all. The "spicy" rating makes sense too, when every dish is more or less red. So, thumbs up for chef comments, old people on the street comments!
This has to be one of your best videos to date. Super genuine with great conversations and explanations as to what was going on at each place. Makes me want to jump on a plane and visit China just for the food. Keep up the great vids!!
It is like that tough. It's hard to find a good pho (Vietnamese soup noodle) in my city. But if you go to Vietnam, even $1 sitting by the roadside is delicious. In my city, $6 pho in a mall is so so.
Your interest and interaction with the people is so awesome. Doing so lets people know their work is being appreciated is what separates your videos from most
To be fair, you are usually walking long distances with bags on your back all day when you are travelling like this, so you end up burning a lot of the calories. I ate like 5 meals a day when I was back packing in Japan but ended up losing weight (in a good way) during my trip lol
I've had that 1000 chilli chicken before. Mouth numbing from all the Sichuan peppercorns. I couldn't bear eating much of it. You've got tougher taste buds than me! We so enjoy watching all the great food you try. Love from Canada! 🇨🇦
Trevor truly makes these locals and food stall owners feel incredibly proud and happy about making their food. With every reaction Trevor has, no matter how little earnings these people make - at that moment they feel a little more confident to keep going. Good job with the videos man, love it!
Hey Trevor! So glad to see you are on the brink of 1M subs! I seen your channel at around 35k subs and to see this months later is amazing! goes to show you are an amazing content creator and are actually very pleasant to watch. Keep it up mate! Love from Australia
OMG! I came from Sichuan, Chengdu and I’ve been studying in Boston, MA for almost one year! Every time I watched your video, it made me mouth watering and soo... hungry. Anyway, I am so happy that I will go back in three weeks! A lot of delicious food there waiting for me!
@@adamhielt1945 Yeah Chinese pp got Tencent, Youku, iqiyi, mango, bilibili etc... But all you know is YT, pathetic~ Can I say that these are all blocked in your country hah?
I lived in Denver for about eight months and ate three times a week at a little Sichuan place. I've missed the food so much I've been teaching myself to make the oil, braised beef, and everything else 😁 I even make my own noodles now. Your videos really helped inspire me.
I love this series, Trevor. Urban food markets are fun but the rural areas are an important part of tradition and culture, which I’m glad you bring us.
I really loved the "on-the-go food vendors" cover!!! Its amazing, connects you to the roots.. it was really an authentic taste of Sichuan!!! Am already in love with the food/culture of China.. Would like to see more treasures of deep alleys in Sichuan.
Thanks for this amazing food/travel video and we wish your a good journey on your 6 week tour! It´s really nice that you are able to speak Chinese too so that you are able to interact with the Street Vendors. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and we wish you both a good week ahead! Best Regards from Maxi and Maro in Copenhagen, Denmark.
I love when he interacts with vendors and stuff while he eats. Even though at times it can get awkward because of the language difference, it’s still really endearing. People the same everywhere!
I am so bad at handling spicy food but the foods from Sichuan are my absolute favorites of the different regions of China. The spices give all the foods such incredible depth of flavor - I feel lucky that I live somewhere that has a couple authentic Sichuan places to eat at, because people really are missing out not having access to authentic dishes like these.
Loved it!!! Yes, love the behind the scenes in the kitchen for sure and love that you constantly are talking the different lauguages in your videos to the people you encounter.
As much as you travel who knows what your hands touch. Please be a bit courteous to the vendor by not touching their food with your bare hands -- like the hanging noodles. They only allow you to do it because you are a foreigner.
I really appreciate your approach to these food and travel videos. It has a sense of genuine exploration, and I really enjoy you actually showing your conversations with the people as much as you show the food itself.
Yes, please continue to try to get back into the kitchens and talk to the chefs and do the same with the street vendors. It's so nice when you engage them. You can tell that your ability to speak Mandarin really opens people up and you can see how kind and generous many of them are. I like that you are not only interested in the food but the people who make the food.
This is type of stuff I love to see from you! So many places in China to discover and you're at an advantage compared to other channels. Show us more from China!
Awesome videos Trevor! Im currently learning chinese so I not only have a lot of fun watching your videos but I can also practice what I learn in class. Thank you very much for taking the time to subtitle your videos in chinese, most of the time I just dont understand what chinese people are saying as they speak SO FAST, lol.
Yes! It is so incredible to see the cooking methods and unique ingredients that they use. It is also especially helpful that you list the prices. Thank you for sharing!
You should have a show on a tv channel like really. You have this form of enthusiasm that makes the viewer feel as if we are there. Not many food travelers can do that.
I love the Chinese people. There food is so delicious. And there such good people..I love there culture.. your show is amazing I really enjoyed it thank you for all to hard work
Awesome vid, Trevor! Always love watching you explore new dishes. I think a lot of business owners are not comfortable disclosing the spices and recipes for fear of giving away secrets to competitions. Some people might consider it rude to ask (similar to asking how much money one makes in the west).
I have been following you for about a year or so, and love watching your videos, your zest for food and for the people that put so much hard work into the food they prepare. Thank you so much for sharing all these flavours from China! May you have every success in all your future endeavors!

Yes Trevor, I would love to see the kitchen scenes on how these dishes are made. thanks again to you and Ting for your travels through China for great cuisines. Safe travels you two.
Getting inspired by your videos Trevor, I am planning a two-weeks trip in China, and keep watching your vids. Your chinese language knowledge is amazing, I'm so impressed! I won't dare trying to learn now. I wanted to give it a go to understand and be understood, but wow.
joshua williams while most people don't have a problem with msg, there are some people who are "allergic" to it, i believe. I think there's a scishow episode on this topic if you want to find out more about that.
my theory is "Chinese takeaway" was becoming a big thing in america, and to try to slow it down, they put out crappy fake reports of it causing cancer which had a very bias approach and pretty much had an agenda behind it. Kind of like the sugar industry blaming fats on the cause of high cholesterol etc.
joshua williams - for some people MSG can cause migraines and in others it causes diarrhea. They called it 'Chinese food syndrome' in the US for years because many Chinese places use MSG, so if you eat a lot of MSG you can feel pretty bad afterwards. It's just like salt, sugar, and other flavourings - they all can effect people differently. I think MSG got a bad reputation in the 70s and 80s. I've never had a problem with it - but if you know your body doesn't react well to it, you need to be careful eating it.

You can refer to exactly what Americans are like by the Chinese people's impression. The governments and media of both sides are doing the same thing.
The secret ingredient in their unique delicious food is Chinese gutter oil. Feel free to youtube what that is!
That rice ball machine is genius, that dough is sticky and hard to handle, and here he doesn't have to touch it at all. That looks really good.
The dinner with kitchen view and chef comments is beyond anything. Great! The Tofu Beef dish, never seen before! Yeah, more chef interviews!!!
