Manns Restoration restored and modified this 1965 Ford Mustang fastback about 8 years ago. The owner has maintained the car amazingly well over the years. He recently brought it in for a little touch-up and he said we could take it for a spin. It's powered by the original A-code 289 V8, but it has been balanced and blueprinted, milled to a zero deck, and topped with some Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads. It also features a Comp Extreme Energy camshaft with 266in/270ex duration and .493in/.500ex lift, 1.6 ratio rockers, an Edelbrock RPM intake, and an Edelbrock 600 cfm four barrel carb. The exhaust is comprised for long tube headers, an x-pipe, and Pypes Violator mufflers. It made 330 HP and 350 Lb-ft of torque on the dyno. In a car this light, that makes it plenty quick. We hope you find it interesting, thanks for taking a look!
This video was filmed at Manns Restoration in Festus, MO

Oh man, that Mustang is already a gem. Looks and runs excellent. But most of all, this was one of the car presentation vids I watched on youtube. Good music choice and not disturbing while 289 starts singing, outboard filming suddenly turns to inboard and driver and car seems to be pleased by each other. Sooooo satisfactory. Joined your channel without any vacillation.
driving the way it should be driven!!!!
This film gave me shivers and tears to my eyes. i have to have this type of car someday. Just have to.
My thoughts too. Dream car. It's so amazing.
I have one, it is awesome! My favorite year and style. I got it from a friend’s older neighbor. Number matching great shape
Me too bro... Good replacement for a wife LOL
Me too. At 20, I already planning, saving, and looking for a 65 that I can buy and restore 😍😍😍😍
I love the car wish i could buy one myself
This is the car I had back in the day. Same color, same interior. Wish I had it today.
That's cool that you had one Jim, it's definitely one of my favorite cars. Thanks for taking a look at this one!
you got rid of it fit a reason, don't forget is still am old car that needs maintenance often and can't drive everyday
searching all 1949s fords
Ernie P why can't you drive it everyday? If you put modern tech in it? I have one in my area for a great price if I pull the trigger and buy it I'll make it my daily. Are you saying it's can't daily because it's "old"
@@Guy-mx4fb curious. I drive my 66 daily
Huge hp from just 289 cubes. Gotta give ford props
wow badass video and car, sounds killer and great camerawork and roads! couldnt have done it better myself :)
Thank you very much Sam, we sincerely appreciate that! Anybody reading this comment should go check out Sam's channel...he does some truly impressive work!
RamblinAround You guys are the best. Thank you.
Hey look, it’s samspace
I’m only 15 this year, but I know exactly what my money’s going to
back when cars were beautiful. cars these days are made of plastic and computers, i wish i lived in the 50-60s..
Daniel Fite if you don’t like modern cars just buy an old car.. nobody’s stopping you
one of my classmate's in my school has a lamborghini i don't know what type of lambo because i am not a fan of modern cars.
@@SmellyYFeet Lamborghini's are overrated
Awesome video, really well done! The car is beautiful too and sounds amazing!
Thank you very much, we're glad you liked it!
@@RamblinAround loved it where are they Now? I just got a 65 mustang not a fastback though.
Beautiful Mustang! My grandpa had a 65’ fastback that he restored in the 80’s black on black 289 4 speed. Wish he still had it but he’s got a 5.0 now which is fun too, but not as much of a raw experience as this! Nice job!
I’m not a big fan of green mustangs, but that car is pure gorgeous, and very crisp! Love every bit of it!
The best car that i have ever seen in Hold my life
Glad you like it, thank you for watching!
I love classic muscle cars
THAT SHAPE IS THE ONE I LIKE THE MOST
I agree completely, it's one of my all-time favorites. Thanks for taking a look!
@@RamblinAround NO THANK YOU FOR SHARING.

Smiles per gallon!!
Nice Car !!! 💓my aunt who is over 80 now had this car and a 66 fastback !!! .my Father had a bad ass 56/57 Ford that he'd drag race. Alot of people did that in mid 50's through the 60's . I bet my aunt scored a lot of wins with her fastback s 289 🔥
Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!
The best 1965 Mustang driving video on you tube , Great car great song . I love this video wish there were more like this one. Thank you.
Thank you very much! We'll be doing more of these type of videos very soon. We appreciate you watching!

Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!
@@RamblinAround interesting mustang story. I am an 80s baby and was seeking out a Fox body a few years ago. I actually stumbled across a terrible quality photo posting on Craigslist for a 66 mustang. Despite the photos, the blue and white pony interior (I knew nothing about prior) stood out to me. Feeling discouraged from having test drove a pristine fox body and feeling unimpressed of the performance (due to today’s spoiled standards which replaced my childhood experience in a fox body my friends brother had) I felt compelled to check out the 66. Though I didn’t have much money. I went with a friend of mine to a huge tire distribution shop in Arizona. The car was there. It was amazing. The interior was brand new and it was in such good shape inside and out for not being restored. I fell in love. I quickly forgot about the fox body I wanted originally.
Then I heard that the old man’s son owned the car and he had passed away. The old man didn’t want to look at the car anymore. I was afraid of how much he would take for the car and told his assistant I didn’t have a lot of money. The assistant smiled and said, “make him an offer and he will take it”.
I made my offer of under $7500 and it was mine. I am so lucky to have it. It brings my wife and our dog a lot of joy driving it around. I get thumbs up everywhere I go and it really is so much fun just to slow down and cruise. It’s a sprint 200 and not worth a fortune, but we love it and it’s so fun to cruise around. It’s what cars are all about. We since moved to North Carolina and cause trouble driving it around here now.
The best car that ever lived
Great video. Its simplicity was beautiful.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. We appreciate you watching.
WOW,K Code Eater!! Lucky Buyer Got A Runner.
In the day had a 65 stang 289 4 speed 4 barrel . Beat it up street racing and it never let me down ! Wasn't the quickest but it sure was fun.
They came with an inline 6, a 289 V8 with a 2 barrel carb, a 289 V8 with a 4 barrel carb, and a special K-code engine the 271 horse, 289 High Performance V8. Solid lifters.
My Father & I have a 66 in progress Automatic. Beautiful tho....nice 65!
Great video of a wonderful Mustang version. But I did notice that the driver was hanging on the shift lever often. I have read that this practice is very hard on the transmission. Watch race driver videos, they don't do it. Two hands on the wheel is a good idea also.
@ramblinaround Dude! This is one of our absolute favorite videos on RUclips! You did a great job on this one. Love it.
Wow,that sounds fantastic. What a weapon.Beautiful old girl.
My DREAM car!!!!!
Glad you like it, thanks for taking a look!
Should've never, ever, ever change the original design of this beauty. Could've stayed unchanged like the original VW Beetle.
i like what shelby did to it with the longer hood and the more aggressive look (not the eleanor but just the regular shelbys) and the inboard headlights on the 67
Reminds me of my 65 fastback I had 30 years ago. 👍👍
man, that must have been a crazy car brand new back in the day, especially considering the bias ply tires and brakes. what a beauty!
It's a pretty awesome machine. Thanks for taking a look Murray!
I love the car
Older Mustangs like this are better than the newer models in my opinion.
Every gear head should have access to a two lane road like that one. Especially with a beauty like this.
My dream car, an old perfect classic
Like the lines on the 65 Fastbacks the best. Beautiful car. Sounds great.
Such a iconic car. Killer video!
Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!
Perfect video....everyone should do a video like this when they want to sale their car.
I always did love Spenser’s “Bucket of bolts”
My daddy had a 65 fastback 4 on the floor and one day my mama was driving and she choked it down on a hill daddy looked over at her and said bitch if you can't drive get out! She fired it up and stomped the gas to the floor and my daddy was wearing his onion rings and ketchup 😂😂😂 Those two loved each other for over 40 years. I miss both of them.
Great looking Mustang, one of the best looking Mustangs ever built.
I agree completely, I'm a huge fan of the early fastbacks too. Thanks for taking a look!
Beautiful car, absolutely amazing! Wish I could buy one myself, but an restaurated oltimer shipped to Europe... unaffordable to me. Sadly.
Your best video. Watching it every now and then
I love the car 👏🇺🇸
Beautiful. Car. Mustang. Guy. !! Got. 3.
Nice car. I like the green colour and the sound of the engine.
I have watched this video a hundred times. Any new one coming soon? Love the 289 V8 sound.
Thank you for watching, we do have a couple interesting builds coming up. Right now, we have a Sunbeam Tiger almost ready for paint and it's going to powered by a healthy 289. We're also supposed to be restoring another 65 Fastback, but that hasn't begun yet.
Even with small block still good enough to have a lot of fun 👍 nice car, very clean 👏
I dont think they could ever build a bad car. Nice job guys.
They definitely do great work. Thanks for taking a look!
Absolutely gorgeous , and puts out what you want, when you want it. Perfect baby.
That Mustang is as fast as a Bullitt!
I wish my 65 was that damn clean
amazing car and i love this video
Thank you, we appreciate you watching!
I had one in 67 with just headers four bbl high rise manifold and it would scream!!
merci pour ce moment magnifique j'adoreeeeeee
It’s a beautiful car! I have one that looks very similar so I know how much fun they can be.
289 best motor built by Ford....Carroll Shelby
Sound like Pure America 😍🚗🐎🇺🇲💪💯
🎶Boy I’d love to have that car I whispered to my dad.🎶🥸
Beautiful car and awesome video. I have a 65 mustang coupe/ 289 auto. Love these iconic legends
Thank you very much, we're glad you like it!
This is why I got a 2005 mustang gt.
GIwillo dude it’s amazing. I have the loudest possible exhaust while still maintaining proper tone and not going overboard with raspy ness
GIwillo that’s awesome! I love the 66! Although the 69 is my all time favorite muscle car :)
Hard to buy now Worth money
Enjoyed the look and the ride.
Thanks Greg, we appreciate you taking a look!
Nice video ! I like how you present that Mustang ! :)
Beautiful car great music it winter where I am I am so jealous
Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!
My hubby and I saw one of these today at the petrol station and we both sat there lusting after it. Exact same colour and condition, just awesome! How much would this car cost?
For one that will maybe need a little work you could probably get one for 10K if not from a dealer.
@@DAN007thefoxx1 Try more like 28 to 30K
Perfection
Thank you for taking a look!
Looks and sounds great! :)
Thank you my friend, glad you like it!
Ford got it right the 1st time!
They really did, it's a hell of a car. Thanks for watching!
One day.
One of my all time favs...in that color too!! :)) Badass lil' beast!!
A tear drop hood wouldn’t hurt , but it’s nice as it is .
Perfect car. Mine is very similar but with too many horses and not enough supporting parts. Love the Ivy Green.
Cool little fastback, looks like it was fun to flog it a bit.
Oh yeah, we were having a blast out there. It sounds really amazing in person. Thanks for taking a look!
I’m 15 and have a 65 mustang it’s a 6 cylinder automatic but I love it
What a sweet, sweet sound!
It really does sound nice. Thanks for taking a look!
Very beautiful amazing car beautiful looking car wow
Glad you like it, thanks for taking a look!
She is quite a runner for sure...
I wish I had the resources to Own Her...👌👍🇺🇸
I am literally in a lavish living room and when the car passed by, I was smelling SO2, NOx, and Cx.
Is it a bird No is it a plane No it is a supercar mustang flying down the road holy Moses it is fast and furious thanks jeff
No Wonder smokey could not catch this baby holy Moses she is fast 🦇 batmobile from the batcave thanks jeff and Jordan for this video i enjoy every moment ✌️ ✌️ ☀️ 🤩
That really was a fun car. Thanks for checking it out Tom!
I own a 1965 2+2 (Fastback) with pretty much the same engine work - is that the Comp Cams XE262H cam? The cam specs look familiar. I have a 4-speed Toploader and love rowing through the gears. I drove it to Hot August Nights in August 2017 and it was round trip of 2640 miles and enjoyed every minute of it, even without AC! :) This video has got me itching to go outside and go for spin right now :) Nice video.
Sounds wonderful
I miss a 4 speed! :) Cool video!
Yep, 4 speeds are a blast to drive, that's for sure. Thanks for taking a look, we appreciate it!
Very very excellent!
I owned a 1965 GT Fastback for 13 years. Wish I had never sold it.
this mustang sounds AMAZING! a very beautiful car :-)
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching!
Have one the these in my garage. 65 fastback A code 4 speed factory disc Georgia car. 289 Hi-Po cam, electronic ignition, F4B intake,4100 Autolite, scattershield and headers. Probably not as fast as the one in the video but a kick to drive.
Very nice video .That 1965 look great .I used to own the exact same car 1965 289 fastback red with white racing stripes This video brings back some happy memory's.You have a new subscriber.
Glad it brought back some good memories. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Nice car go baby go they don’t make them like that anymore 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Very cool Bud!!☺
