- LaMelo Ball just signed a 5 year supermax contract that sets his family up for generations. He’s also becoming an irrelevant young player in the NBA. This video looks at what’s gone wrong for Ball and how his team ranks among other up-and-coming squads in the league.

Having Bridges back, second best Hornet back on the floor means the coach has options. Now Hayward can swing back to the second unit. Adding Miller gives the Hornets an oversized 2 when they need buckets and spacing.

Yeah the Knicks are young, but not carried by youth like these other teams. Brunson is 26 and Randle is 29. RJ, Quickley, Grimes, and Robinson all bring their age down considerably, and only imo RJ has star potential of that group. The rest are very good players but not gamechangers in all likelihood

Way back when Melo has all the Hype (which he deservingly so) ,winning ROY and having been a first time all star. It was clear as day to me that Ant has the higher ceiling.
LaMelo won't stay in Charlotte for too long. When that contract is up, he's gone. He's just bidding his time. He's loyal, so he won't bail until his time with them is up.
This one is a miss Casey... you are taking too many little distractions and saying its a huge problem. This same team went 43-39 without injuries in 2021 and have the tools to be better than half these teams

They’ve still missed the playoffs every season with Lamelo getting blown by 25 in the play in
They lost most of the players that made the team win 43 games like Kelly Oubre, but they can still do some moves since Gordon Hayward is on the last season of his contract and they can trade with a contender.
But they still have the Melo and Bridges duo and with Oubre gone those minutes goes to their new Rookie who fits with well if they can resolve the center position going forward they might be a play in team.
People are really forgetting how good lamelo really is when hes healthy and how much better he makes the hornets when hes on the floor if he stays healthy this year i think hornets are a playoff team especially eith bridges coming back with miller and mark williams

He is only irrelevant compared to Ant because he hasn’t been healthy. Not because of lack of talent. A full year of healthy Lamelo would be something special. I would argue he is one of the most gifted passers in the entire NBA.

Yeah it’s hard to tell when Casey means “young” whether he means rebuilding or just purely how old the average age of the team is, cause the Grizzlies and Knicks are still in an entirely different tier than teams like OKC, Orlando, and San Antonio. They’re bona fide playoff teams, even championship contenders if things go very right, those other ones may get there, but not even close to it in this season

Here’s the sad truth of what will happen with LaMelo and I been saying it for 2 years now. He’ll do what countless NBA stars have done to ruin their careers, and sign a supermax with the Hornets (thinking he can force his way out to a contender whenever he pleases) and then he’ll waste his best years putting up empty stats in the regular season, sustain a serious injury or two, and when he’s close to 30 and declining, he’ll demand a trade and be traded from one bad franchise to another bad franchise for assets (like what’s about to happen with Lillard)
This is exactly why the Supermax contract needs to go, otherwise bad franchises will keep manipulating young naive players to sign them, essentially ruining their own legacy so a losing team can increase their fan fare. (And if you still doubt me, I wrote this comment before I got to the part of the video where he said LaMelo already signed the supermax)
Don't get the "manipulate" on this, they can offer the biggest salary for a reason which is to give them a chance to build a roster that can make them compete. No player is forced to take that offer, if he wants to go elsewhere to have a better chance of winning a title, he will still earn enough to generate generational wealth.
So should i really think they are manipulated?

TMac was screwed because of scoliosis, he was a timebomb. Lamelo needs to mature his body even further in the gym. He's tall so he needs to be able to make the most with mismatches. Players who lift factually are better defenders. He'd likely jump higher and run faster too if he had super strong hips and legs.
Putting the pacers and nets ahead of the pistons is nasty work. Both of those teams have limited upside.

U crazy for placing Thunder & Magic way ahead of Pistons. Cade is & will be greater than both Palo & SGA. We’re all on the same trajectory so to say Thunder & Magic are top 5 & then have Pistons at 9 is ludicrous. Even more ridiculous is Pacers being better than Pistons! Besides Tyrese, Mathurin & Jerace, who else do they have for their young core moving forward? Pistons have 4 along with the potential boom or bust in Wiseman.
