Accurate and fair. Klay is a streaky shooter - when he's on, he's a Splash Brother..when he misses, it can get in his head and he'll get hasty/ sloppy with his shot..
All the points that I would have made, are included, including the excellent reminder about Draymond Green. Roll the tape: (1) The note about analytics, where you can spin them to say whatever you want. Like I have long said about analytics: "If you need analytics to do your job as a GM, then you are probably in the wrong line of work". Clay was like Scottie Pippen with Jordan. Without him, they do not tally all these championships. End of story. How frustrating if you were a fan of an opposing team come playoff time, and this guy, along with Curry, are shooting the way they did. That surreal Clay record-breaking one quarter performance (though not in playoffs) shows what he was capable of. (2) Related to the above, in fact, not sure how you put a price tag on 4 championships, where he was an integral part in all. Also, if Clay does not go down against the Raptors, even with KD already out, VERY GOOD chance...pretty likely...in fact almost certain, the Warriors win the title there as well. Warriors led 83-80 late in the 3rd with with Clay heading to line for 2 shots when the injury occurred. I don't like the Raptors chances in that game or next with a healthy Clay and Steph. (3) Yes, it is obvious that Clay is not the same player as before (but remember, the guy came back from 2 serious, and potentially career ending injuries. Name the 2 worst injuries to suffer and torn ACL and torn Achilles heel would top most people's list). Now, also obvious is Clay trying to posture for that max contract, looking to get paid for his body of work and the player / force he used to be. (In a different time - actually a few years back - before the new CBA and all kick in, the Warriors could probably afford to give him that as a thank you for all he has done.) (3a) As @John so succinctly points out below in the comments: "To be fair without Steph, Klay and Draymond the team would currently be worth 3 billion, not 7 billion. He deserves the contract, but that doesn’t mean he will get it." (That is something certainly not lost on Warriors management, who have taken care of their star players, and others - refer to Jordan Poole's max contract.) (4) Nice to see that point and reminder on (and maybe for) Draymond Green, that he was not given a max contract for the simple reason that ... he is not worth a max contract. In the mind of several NBA players, the bar seems to have been lowered, where if this was the case, role players would join star, elite players on the max contract podium. Refer to a video from Casey a while back, complete with the facial expression when making his point, about (I believe) current Lakers player Pope thinking he was worth a max contract when with (I believe) the Pistons. "Seriously" Casey noted. Pope would in time adjust his game and his expectations, making him a valuable asset, though not of max contract value.
Even after all the injuries he still averaged 22 on ovwr 40 percent shooting from 3 and leading the league in total 3s. To save hes overrated is ridiculous.

return of AM HOOPS YESSIR !!!! Thanks for the update love how you sieve out all the crap and give us straight facts and insights on how things really go
lets make this clear. late in the lakers series, wiggin was playing with fractured cartilage in his ribs. you cannot blame the man for a poor performance when you can clearly see that he is struggling with immense pain.
Klay never evolved his offensive bag. So now that his defense ain't what it was, when his shot ain't dropping dude is almost unplayable. Dude is 6'7" if he had worked on his post moves, or had something off the dribble, when his shot ain't dropping he would have something to fall back on and force teams to adjust and give the Warriors a new element with work in the post. Dude would be a matchup nightmare with a post game and being a playmaker in the post. Klay with some footwork and post moves would make things sooo much easier on Steph and the Warriors offense.
Klay's through... he knows he'll never be the same and that shows in his grumpy attitude when he's struggling. It's the quickness in his lateral movement on defense that he lost with injury that really shows...
Klay will always have a place on a roster for the rest of his career no matter which team he goes to but unfortunately he has to realise, he is not the same elite player once he was before his injuries😢 he was a great defender but now he seems more slow and not as good at defending anymore and his shots look more flat but he can still be a good player not a max player.
I honestly feel like they could’ve still had the same if not better success without klay. Klays done good but someone would’ve stepped up and got a shot they deserved for less money with more mamba mentality knowing you’re starting with Curry
Naa, there's not alot of people who could shoot like Klay and at the same time defend like him. He was the perfect 2 way player with Steph. There no one who has the same jump and shoot ability Klay has in NBA history. So no one can play Klay's role. Don't underrate and disrespect him because of last season
@@damonselmon2307 He was a positive on defense and with the help of Draymond and Iguadala they help covered for Steph being a defensive liability. If you put someone in someone was good on only offense to replace Klay. It won't work because Klay sometimes defended against the best players from the other team. Go and check especially the first round of the 2016 playoff when Steph was hurt. You would see how important Klay Thompson was.
So many things are making me sad recently. Klay used to be one of my favorite players in the league, but I agree, he doesn't seem to be a in good spot mentally right now.
Its unfair for Klay to be defined just by his struggles in this playoffs. People forgot his stats, his record is hard to be broken by somebody on this league.
Just because a record is hard doesn't mean anything when we're talking about current Klay. And it's fair to talk about struggles in the playoffs cause that's what teams compete for.
What an insecure person does? Cmon man look at Kobe....look at MJ....Klay is proud of what he helped to build in Golden State. $68 million for 0 play yes but look at how hard hes worked to come back.
Klay acknowledged his mistakes about the Booker situation like a man. I love your videos but why not included that? Why force this negative look on Klay .
Maybe im trippin, but the whole point of winning a championship, is bc it proves your great. So, if someone challenges your greatness, how is it “insecure” to remind that person you got 4 gotdamn rings? What the hell did you win for? To only mention it when someone asks? Thas fuckin stupid
Exactly. He probably wasn't even the 4th best player in that 22 ring. He definitely wasn't 4th in the 23 playoffs. Max after getting paid during injury is crazy. He has to earn this next contract. He has been a shell of himself
@@split_head_776 I hate this mindset NBA fans have that if you weren't the best player on a championship team, you don deserve the championship. There's a reason NBA rosters have 5 players on the court and 15 players, it's a team game. For the 2022 championship, Klay was the 5th best player, because Steph was 1st and Poole/Wiggins/Looney were 2nd-4th. Saying they can take one of those players off the 2022 Warriors and still win the title is an awful take
2nd and 3rd options will allways be evaluated differently by the critics looking at the analytics. Warriors have 4 champioships, all 4 with Klay playing...
Klay gonna be a warrior for life I can’t see him leaving curry and the dynasty they too good of a contender for him to leave for sole none contender for just money that’s dumb but reasonable but at the same time you are wasting your potential playing on a rebuilding team. You could get more playing time or shots up or what ever but it means more pressure and more drama to come. And it takes time to adapt to an new environment. And coexist with teams to learn the Kay’s and communicate better.
So Klay came back off 2 major injuries and people think his defense was go be the same or greater. Klay will come back healthier than last year and he definitely deserves his extension. Go watch some of his interviews he did this summer. He hungry and I believe the warriors will win a 5th ring
If 10+ years in the NBA you still need a big salary and "the bag" you seriously messed up your financial planning. Big respect to the Junior Bridgemans out there, got less than 5million in a career but now has a net worth of 500+ million. That's how it's done.
And they were right, Klay was better in 2023 than he was in 2022 and he will be even better in 2024. Y'all love to act like ACL and Achilles injuries don't take time to heal from, and Klay's gradual improvement since coming back in January 2022 shows that@@ayctz

The Warriors have done incredibly well by them, but have also set them and their kids and grandkids up for life. I would hope that if it were me in the same situation, I’d be trying to do whatever it took to make the team great for as long as possible, not trippin’ on greed. #Dubs 👊🏽

Why does nobody understand this? If I was in the league and went down with a acl and achilles tear I would be crippled I probably couldn't even jump after that. This man gets no respect
That's exactly what people fail to understand! People criticizing Klay's performance forget that he is still working to 100% after the injuries, that the Warriors' decision to pay him the supermax in 2019 paid off when they won the title in 2022, and that he led the league in 3s this past season
this is such a casual take. the two rings they won with KD, Klay avg 16 ppg behind steph and KD... and the one they won in 2022, he was the third best player.
Klay would be worth every penny if he didn't have two busted knees and was on the verge of a career ending injury everytime he jumps. Don't get it twisted he is a 4 time champion still has a great shot and the experience and pedigree he brings is valuable but not for a MAX. He could be paid for his intangibles on a young team with cap space that is building but not on a dynasty that is on its last legs, its time for them to either cash in on Klay right now or let him walk.
trading cp3 for poole was actually an investment in the future. the poole contract is much longer and would hurt them so much more than cp3. since cp3 will be injured in the playoffs, this isnt a win now move, its a get out of jail card for the future
Kerr needs to ask Klay to come off the bench. At this point in his career, all the miles and injuries. Klay is not the same player defensively and it shows on the court. When both Curry and Klay are out there they have one of the weakest defensive backcourts in the NBA.

All the points that I would have made, are included, including the excellent reminder about Draymond Green. Roll the tape:
(1) The note about analytics, where you can spin them to say whatever you want.
(In a different time - actually a few years back - before the new CBA and all kick in, the Warriors could probably afford to give him that as a thank you for all he has done.)
(3a) As @John so succinctly points out below in the comments: "To be fair without Steph, Klay and Draymond the team would currently be worth 3 billion, not 7 billion. He deserves the contract, but that doesn’t mean he will get it." (That is something certainly not lost on Warriors management, who have taken care of their star players, and others - refer to Jordan Poole's max contract.)
(4) Nice to see that point and reminder on (and maybe for) Draymond Green, that he was not given a max contract for the simple reason that ... he is not worth a max contract.
Let's see what he has to offer this season. Everyone has their ups and downs
Even after all the injuries he still averaged 22 on ovwr 40 percent shooting from 3 and leading the league in total 3s. To save hes overrated is ridiculous.
Kobe showing 5 rings: “Savage”
Klay showing 4 rings: “Insecure”
context matters. Two same things coukd have different meaning deoending on the context and intention.
@@august6281Klay even said on PG’s podcast even tho he has 4 rings he didnt carried a franchise like PG
these fanboys is blind af Klay aint that man anymore
Klay said IN THIS VIDEO he was being insecure.
Nah I'm pretty sure everyone was on Klays side when he first put up the 4 rings. Til he did it more. And he only does it when his team is losing or getting cooked.
Man Klay Steph and Draymond need a piece of the franchise
return of AM HOOPS YESSIR !!!! Thanks for the update love how you sieve out all the crap and give us straight facts and insights on how things really go
Mom:Are u hungry,babe?
Klay:I got 4 rings
lets make this clear. late in the lakers series, wiggin was playing with fractured cartilage in his ribs. you cannot blame the man for a poor performance when you can clearly see that he is struggling with immense pain.
Facts, it was very clear that wiggs was struggling to move up and down the court.
And if you don't know, breathing is very difficult
Great point regarding, "they already took care of you." 💯
7:07 only Giga Chad knows
Everybody said Draymond would walk in free agency but all that turned out to be bs, i think same will happen again
Klay is a DUB for life!💯💯
Klay "Live in the Present" Thompson. Lol, good video. Sub ed
It’s outrages how Klay Thompson gets paid 40 Million.
Y’all disrespecting Thompson. Klay is underrated.
Great perspective! : )
Nah klay really got taken care of . Getting signed after tearing ya shit is lowkey crazy. That’s some kd shit .
the issue is that Klay Thompson will get a max somewhere in the NBA.
Better hang on to Klay...he's coming into his better years.
Klay's through... he knows he'll never be the same and that shows in his grumpy attitude when he's struggling. It's the quickness in his lateral movement on defense that he lost with injury that really shows...
I’m fucking with this video consistently lately, putting in work Mr hoops 🔥💪
Klay will always have a place on a roster for the rest of his career no matter which team he goes to but unfortunately he has to realise, he is not the same elite player once he was before his injuries😢 he was a great defender but now he seems more slow and not as good at defending anymore and his shots look more flat but he can still be a good player not a max player.
2:10 stats are stats you can’t make them whatever you want but you can say he’s a top 75 player when in reality he isn’t even close all time
The whole point of statistics is that you CAN use them to say whatever you want
And it doesn't make what you say valid.. just that the stats are stats.
People forget how good Klay was before his injury. He probably was the best two way shooting guard in the league.
People talk like Klay was a defensive threat.. 😆
@@damonselmon2307
He was a positive on defense and with the help of Draymond and Iguadala they help covered for Steph being a defensive liability.
If you put someone in someone was good on only offense to replace Klay. It won't work because Klay sometimes defended against the best players from the other team. Go and check especially the first round of the 2016 playoff when Steph was hurt. You would see how important Klay Thompson was.
Klay is my favorite one that's why I watch nba. Long ago I watch NBA because of MJ. NOW ITS KLAYand the warriors!!
So many things are making me sad recently. Klay used to be one of my favorite players in the league, but I agree, he doesn't seem to be a in good spot mentally right now.
I like how you broke this down, your pretty good sir!
1:19 yes agree MJ and Kobe were also insecure at some point
Y’all forget Klays greatness. He will continue to be a scoring machine with average defense.
For some reason I think there will be Dray-CP3 drama if things look bad during season
I miss the old klay
straght from the go klay
If Klay Thompson Talent to the Eastern Conference Teams!
Great objective video, per usual
I would love to see the Warriors miss the playoffs because of Klay.
I love Klay Thompson ❤️
Its unfair for Klay to be defined just by his struggles in this playoffs. People forgot his stats, his record is hard to be broken by somebody on this league.
Just because a record is hard doesn't mean anything when we're talking about current Klay. And it's fair to talk about struggles in the playoffs cause that's what teams compete for.
@@BlazeBallin23 and no one is saying not pay him; just not worth a max contract
@@joefilter2923 yea he isn't worth a max like he thinks he deserves. He gotta take a pay cut.
Jaylen Brown your next video A.M. Hoops 😤😤😤
The warriors are gonna pay him either way it mainly because of how he is viewed on the warriors
I love klay but if he wants a max, it’s time to let him walk.. warriors need to develop and give minutes to some guys like kuminga and moody
They can do both
Calling Shaq insecure for throwing his rings into Barkley every time he's losing any argument, lol!!
love these vids
What an insecure person does? Cmon man look at Kobe....look at MJ....Klay is proud of what he helped to build in Golden State. $68 million for 0 play yes but look at how hard hes worked to come back.
I remember during their championship run I was always saying that Klay Thompson was a very consistent shooter
But nowadays, nope
Ajajjjja how much was the max for 1991???
Very very underrated
the thing with Klay is that he is a competitor. to say things aren't looking good for him is it bit much, but I'd say things could be better.
He deserves a max and if he doesn't get it he should go somewhere else and build a new path.
Klay acknowledged his mistakes about the Booker situation like a man. I love your videos but why not included that? Why force this negative look on Klay .
When has this guy ever had a positive thing to say about the Warriors?
Did you not finish watching the video? 4:57
5:00 he literally included the clip you’re talking about
Maybe im trippin, but the whole point of winning a championship, is bc it proves your great. So, if someone challenges your greatness, how is it “insecure” to remind that person you got 4 gotdamn rings? What the hell did you win for? To only mention it when someone asks? Thas fuckin stupid
hell nah klay is still elite give him a break he just came back from 2 major injurys
They definitely win that 22 ring without klay. They don’t win it without loon and Wiggins
Exactly. He probably wasn't even the 4th best player in that 22 ring. He definitely wasn't 4th in the 23 playoffs. Max after getting paid during injury is crazy. He has to earn this next contract. He has been a shell of himself
Loon is key! Milwaukee's own!
He was MIA. sorrynotsorry
U forgot poole, warriors fans have amnesia
Klay can get the max but he has to play well this season.
That would destroy their team for years. He's not even close to a max player.
@@kareemwillis2033 Yes he is when healthy
Would love to edit your videos !
Klay has 4 chips on his shoulders and I see why..
Pretty sure klay is going to take a reasonable contract.
I guess some people just don't feel economic recessions or downturns, huh?
Klay will find his form this season
people said this last year and he was average
And they were right, Klay was better in 2023 than he was in 2022 and he will be even better in 2024. Y'all love to act like ACL and Achilles injuries don't take time to heal from, and Klay's gradual improvement since coming back in January 2022 shows that@@ayctz
Klay deserves the max on what he did for that organization alone.
Disagree ready gave him a 5 year max contract when he got injured and it was worst injured you can get playing basketball
If Kyrie isn't top 75 NBA Team, so isn't Klay
No seriously, Klay is a shooter nothing else standouts
LOVE the Warriors’ Big Three, but for any of them to be trippin’ about money is ridiculous. Klay has made almost $270M in his career, and Draymond $180M. The Warriors have done incredibly well by them, but have also set them and their kids and grandkids up for life. I would hope that if it were me in the same situation, I’d be trying to do whatever it took to make the team great for as long as possible, not trippin’ on greed. #Dubs 👊🏽
Bro.. he was gone for 2 and a half years. Moment he got back we won another ring.. so yes.. he can say 4 rings as many times as he wants. When he was down... all the haters talking shit. Fast forward. He proved all of the haters wrong. Now he can't say anything? F outta here lol
@@FunWithMemesFunWithMemes yes
Klay is a hall of famer
this is such a casual take. the two rings they won with KD, Klay avg 16 ppg behind steph and KD... and the one they won in 2022, he was the third best player.
Dumping Poole salary was smart, but who's gonna help Curry in the playoffs? The roster is cheeks
Klay was also butthurt when he didn't get added to the NBA @ 75 team - he's probably trying to prove that a mistake too lol
oh, just got to that part lol
Kerr needs to ask Klay to come off the bench. At this point in his career, all the miles and injuries. Klay is not the same player defensively and it shows on the court. When both Curry and Klay are out there they have one of the weakest defensive backcourts in the NBA.
Of course Klays not leaving. GS is his identity at this point..
