  • Victor Webmanyama scored 38 points in a mini-sweep of the Suns. It was amazing to see a rookie beat both Kevin Durant and Devin Booker but Shaq made a wild comparison. This is a look at the difference between Bol Bol and Wemby but why Shaq might have been right.

    Actually, Shaq didn't compare Wembanyama to Bol Bol. He just said that Bol Bol had a similar skill set at the same height. And Shaq also clarified that Wemby was much more consistent than Bol.
    The big man just wanted to say that Wemby isn't doing anything unprecedented, he's just doing it at another level.

    I don’t really agree with this in that “if you look at the tape they have the same game.” Maybe to someone that doesn’t know basketball and they’re seeing the same sized player shooting and dunking. There is such a huge difference in the way they play, you even brought up multiple ways they’re different. Wemby has insane coordination for someone his size allowing him to handle the ball like a guard, even if Bol can handle a little, the lack of coordination he has makes it a skill he can’t use in-game. Bol is also no where near as fluid or explosive with or without the ball. His ability to defend in the paint, even while taking hits is also very much unlike Bol. Even his ability to catch the ball and catch lobs. Not to mention his vision off-ball and the ability to read the offense or defense. I see more comparisons to a young Shaq than to Bol. That flip shot he had reaching around the basket is textbook Shaq. Instead of the strength and width, he has length and size. I think in his prime there won’t be anyone able to stop him next to the basket. He’s going to be a problem.

      You will see a lot of these videos on this channel. He hates european players (or non-american). Scoot said that he is the best, it's confidence. Wemby said it, it's arrogance. The last video was ridiculous, too. He said Wemby can't be an all-star because players with similar hype didn't make it, like Lamelo Ball. Wemby will be most likely make the all-star team this year. To compare his hype to Lamelos is just dumb. Spurs games are watched right now as if it were the NBA finals. This kid is breaking records in views.

    What impresses me the most in Wemby is how mature he is for his age. If you compare him to Zion or Morant, it´s like comparing a 35 year old man against 2 teenagers. When you hear Wemby on interviews, you can see how down to earth he is. I´m a Dallas fan, but even Luka feels different, I feel that Luka is also a little immature, like a spoiled child, while Wemby seems much more mature on court, does not complain as much and think more about team play and win, instead of having his own numbers. Comparing Wemby to Bol Bol, what I see is a huge difference in IQ and discipline for the game. Wemby works on his game, he improves every game, he learns with his mistakes, he analyses the game and come back better, he wants to win, I think he has that Mamba Mentality, while you see nothing like that in Bol Bol. I´ve been watching basketball my whole life, and I am really impressed with Wemby, and I do think he is different than all the young stars we have in the league. He has not only a great future, but he is the present, Phoenix has just seen that.

    Actually, they started getting a lil jealous of Bol Bol's popularity in Orlando, IMO. The reason he would take it coast to coast is because, they would literally not pass him the ball when he would be wide open. The organization was more focused on making Paolo the man and a fan favorite, but it wasn't happening. Paolo and Suggs wasn't passing $hit and Wagner was looking for his brother, so he wasn't passing. Basically, what happened was WCJ came back from injury and then they cut his minutes dramatically. He started getting straight garbage minutes at that point. The only difference is Wemby got the keys to the car and Bol doesn't. It made absolutely no sense for a coach to not play Bol against Wemby in back-to-back games against each other.

    • @Dnero518
      @Dnero518 11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah if Bol Bol gets the right situation where the coach and teammates believe in him he could become something special too. More importantly though he has to take basketball and his fitness and workouts and diet serious. Supposedly he's lazy and not dedicated to the game. That's the real difference between him and Wemby, Victor really wants it. Some players just never get it, like say a Cam Reddish. The coaches and teammates around them all the time see them not taking it serious so they lose faith in them then their role and minutes get diminished for guys that are working hard every day. Jr Smith comes to mind too, he still had a good career but he had the tools to be a superstar, with his jumper and athleticism if he wouldve worked like Kobe he couldve been that good. Plus i feel like he never had a serious injury, some guys bodies are just built for basketball like LeBron, Vince Carter or like an Iguodala. Like their body, muscles and bones and I guess the way they naturally move altogether is perfect for it. Others like T Mac or Penny or D Rose had all the skill in the world but were destined for injury.

      How would you expect Bol Bol to get the pass when never gets into position, just stand in the 3 point line waiting for the pass. Wemby, cuts the basket, goes low post, is very active moving around the court. Bol Bol is also not a willing passer. If I'm his teammate I also wouldn't pass the ball to him knowing he would pass it back, after receiving the ball he either shoots or turn it over.

      had the same thought his minutes got cut before he started playing bad, they also rarely ran any plays for him so he was just cleaning up scraps most the time. I am starting to believe he has an issue with effort though, we have seen when a team stops giving him real time he stops trying for sure.

    👍🏾 Good job
    If you were in France last season, you'd know Wembanyama was surrounded by an already CRAZY hype throughout the country, TV, kids, crowds of fans, NBA scouts all the time, all arenas sold out when his team was in town, really "Beatles on tour" like!
    And he's from Paris with all the temptations of big cities and stayed focused on his goal
    With teammate Coulibaly, he only lost in the finals against Mike James' Monaco, 3rd best team in the Euroleague after beating another 🇨🇵 Euroleague team in semis.
    He did amazing against Euroleague level players here so we are all confident he'll do even better in a quiet (boring!) town like San Antonio in which players only think about practice and play

    I think that on top of the consistency issues with Bol, NBA teams don’t want to risk the liability around his health. He almost didn’t make it into the league because of it and he’s destroyed verified trades because of failed physicals. High risk for mid-level gains makes no sense to most teams even the rebuilding ones

    I think the biggest difference between a lot of top young talent in any sports now, is maturity. In either basketball or football(soccer) the youngest players that are doing great and are in route to becoming the spearheads of the next generation are players are humble and seem mature. That’s what I’ve noticed.

    • @MrE_
