    Hey hi,
    Would you recommend the CTR for a casual trek in Meghalaya ( root bridges) and Wei Sawdong falls. It could be slushy at times over there.
    If not the CTR, which one would you recommend?
    Note: I do hardly 2-3 light treks in a year and I get peanuts for salary.

    • @CaptainParbat
      @CaptainParbat  4 года назад

      In a medium price range of 4k to 7k, we only have Decathlon right now. . So go for it.. if you have a higher budget, then Salomons are wonderful! But use them for cross country and Himalayan treks.. as their rubber do not give that great a grip on basalt wet rock.
      Salomons you can get at adventure equipment shops.. or atleast they can help you by ordering it. I suggest do not go for online . As there might be fake ones.

    Amazing video. Jam packed info. Kudos. Thanks for sharing. I’ll share my experience with decathlon recently with their ‘Trek 100’ shoes. The sole of this particular shoes are of bad quality. After investing 5k I was expecting them to last long enough. But within 3 years (Post warranty) the sole completely ripped off in pieces. Now there are completely useless as decathlon does not offer any repair nor they were apologetic for selling such poor quality shoes when confronted in store. Not just me even my 7/8 cousins we all had bought the same shoes together before going for Sarpass Trek in May 2018 everyone’s shoes are useless now. Imagine the kind of money they made. So I will recommend either save money and go for higher brands such as Columbia, north face, etc or buy cheap ones so it doesn’t make you regret even if the shoes tear apart. This is video is has all the info one needs before buying trekking or hiking shoes. As said shoes are the most Important for your any trek.

      Actually all shoes have their pros and cons.. with good grip, comes bad waterproofing.
      The quechuas are a fair blend of both for now..

      Quechua NH150 or MH100 are good.. mh100 are low ankle, which I personally prefer, but you may choose as per you convenience..

    I am a regular trekker in Sahyadri range. I had been using action trekking for several years until I found a better option, 'Gold star'.
    More durable than action trekking (15+ treks, including monsoon treks, still hasn't torn, and I ain't kidding) better grip than action trekking, be it wet rocky patch or high gradient surface with scree, more comfortable than action trekking (at least for first 6-7 treks) and cheapest of them all (300₹).
    Try for 3-4 different Treks in sahyadri for different seasons. I guarantee that you will fall in love with them and do entire video dedicated to these shoes.
    If safety is your biggest concern during treks, switch to these shoes, there's no option with such a good grip (maybe, certain types of canvas shoes) even in little higher price range.
    Only drawback is the authentic ones are really hard to find (fortunately, I know the place where they are available)
