I've owned my civic hatch for about 6-7 months now. Some notes, in no particular order:
    1. The turbo is not going to be as reliable down the road as a NA engine, but the passing power on the highway is great and makes it worth it IMO.
    2. I haven't run into oil dilution issues yet *fingers crossed* but in the winter I turn on sport mode which elevates RPM's and warms the car up faster. I hope that helps.
    3. Visibility out is great. When the rear camera gets gunked up from road grime (I live in Canada), I can always fallback to the windows and mirrors for reversing. The Mazda 3 hatch would've been much more difficult without the cameras.
    4. Seating position can be dropped pretty low, lower than the 2019 Mazda 3 rental I had before. Gives a sportier feel which I like.
    5. Even with the Touring's stock subwoofer, the bass is rather weak. The base model Mazda 3 had stronger bass than the sub from this unit. And I've tried all the settings and tried tweaks suggested in the forums. I'll describe the sound quality as OK, not super clear, not super bassy, but it sounds like a mid-level sound system more than an upgraded one. Will probably upgrade it provided it doesn't make point #7 worse.
    6. The infotainment system is about 98% reliable. It randomly disconnects Android Auto on me, even when driving and without user input.
    7. A lot of buzzes and creaks while driving. At certain speeds the headliner and sun visors vibrate. Over bumps the trim creaks. Hatch doesn't fully unlatch sometimes. Front armrests creak when I apply pressure. Pretty disappointed with the build quality of my car and the only reason I'd wished this car was made in Japan like my old 2008 Mazda3. Never in nearly 200,000km of driving did that car buzz or have creaky trim. While fit and finish is very good, it doesn't seem put together that well and some materials feel cheap. I hope my vehicle is the exception.
    8. This car is roomy. It can fit adults in the back, has large windows and a relatively large hatch that prioritizes horizontal space over vertical space. This is arguably more useful 95% of the time. I haven't had to carry anything super bulky in it yet, but it has carried luggage, souvenirs and shopping for 4 adults on a week long trip.
    9. I hate Lanewatch. I turned it off because its lagginess is arguably a safety hazard. I have Android Auto GPS running often, and when I engage the turn signals, there is a 1-2 second delay until the camera comes on. I could have completed a shoulder check in less time. When I turn off the signal/press the lanewatch button, there is another 1-2 second delay until the screen changes back to the GPS. I've turned it off and only engage it manually when traffic is heavy. I use it for planning lane changes and use the normal shoulder checks instead.
Overall, I still love this car and has surprised me. I'm a stickler for quality and am somewhat of a basshead, but even though the Civic fell well short of those things, I still love this car. It's fun to drive, roomy, practical and looks great.

    •  3 года назад

I appreciate your honesty. I've read other owners complain about the creaks and rattles. One of my pet peeves is a car needs to be quiet when I'm driving. I was thinking about getting a sport 2.0 non turbo with a manual xmission, but the reviews about rattles and such, no way.

Just saw your review and I appreciate you sharing your input. Just visited a dealership this morning and I fell in love with the 2020 civic(still deciding on a hatch or sedan), I do believe ill be getting mine soon so excited! the creakiness might be a pet peeve but i still haven't experienced it, but I drove ancient models before that rattle like no ones business so I don't think it will be much of deal breaker. As for the GPS monitor, I always use my phone as my go to GPS since forever but I do remember the days where I would use a physical map lol. All the new tech will be eye candy for me and definitely useful but I always fall back on good ol head twisting to check corners :D Thanks again for the review mate glad you love this car, hopeful soon I'll be on the same boat

Having huge bass is an obnoxious fad that has now taken over everything- and now everybody thinks it's how it "has to be", or is supposed to be. It's completely unnatural and doesn't represent at all what the the original creators of music intended, EXCEPT hip-hop and some dance-trance type stuff.
Even radio stations have added bass to their signal before it even gets to you, because of this stupid fad.

The three things I would like would be memory seats, rear heat vents and blind spot monitoring in the side mirrors like my Jeep has. Other than that I really like it.

Honestly don't regret my decision at all really love driving it and it is decent on gas (obviously if I got a normal Civic it would be a lot cheaper with not having to buy premium). I built my Jeep and really made it my own, but the Civic is really just a jack of all trades, for me at least..

    • @carreraenzo90
      @carreraenzo90 4 года назад

@@JokerG16 Sure, but other compact sedans offer those features. Features also trickle down every year, that is how you get panoramic roofs, and HID/LED headlights, heated steering wheels. Prices are rising regardless. So rather than have manufacturers put in "low-yield" features that increase prices, I'd rather have people like Sofyan re-calibrate expectations for what is important for consumers (full screen android auto/carplay, padding near the knee rest, safe LED headlights instead of cheap halogens). A few strips of ambient lighting does wonders to elevate the mood and feel of a car (see VW Passat). That costs pennies, and you feel like you are in a more premium vehicle despite the cheaper engine and lack of nappa leather. I don't need a heated armrest, but a heated steering wheel is a strategic few hundred dollars well spent that 80%+ of buyers will appreciate. Same for adjustable lumbar - I don't expect massaging seats, but most people will appreciate adjustable lumbar support. I can go on and on. Once again, thanks to Redline and others for focusing on the important parts.

I have the 2017 civic hatch EX in blue and I absolutely LOVE this car! I came from an upgrade from the 2002 Honda Civic coupe so this was a major upgrade for me. I love the way this car looks and I love the way it drives. I usually drive with it in the eco mode but when I put it in sport, it flies! It flies in the eco mode too but the sport mode has even more pick-up.
As much as I love this car, there are two things I’m not a big fan of:
    1. In my model it doesn’t have a volume nob but I mainly use the steering wheel controls for this (looks like this may not be an issue in the later models).
    2. When driving, the road noise is pretty loud. The music does get louder when you drive but talking on the phone using the Bluetooth is a little more difficult but not too bad...you get used to it.

I have the 2018 ext manual sedan version of the civic. Out of all the cars I’ve driven and/or been in it’s legitimately my favorite for what you pay. I say that honestly, I am not being biased. I’ve hated my previous cars looking at you pontiac and vw. I absolutely love this car and I kid you not, even if I won the lottery tomorrow I would never sell it. I would still use it as an everyday car because it’s that good. It’s so fun to drive. It’s powerful enough where it’s fun, but not so powerful where you’re going to be getting pulled over (I have a lead foot). Apple car play is wonderful. The car is just smooth and can be tossed around. I’ve lended my car to my dad for a few weeks now since I don’t need it and my mom got into a crash and so has to use my dad’s car. Anyway he won’t stop telling me how much he loves the car. It is a phenomenal car. My only issue has been the ac. It’s broken twice on me. Luckily it was under warranty so it got fixed for free. Other than that the car has been 100% solid. Absolutely love this car and if you’re considering buying it, I highly recommend it.

I am 6ft9 and buying a car sucks. I've kept the same family 2003 Odyssey and need something cheap but fun for school since my van is having problems shifting on my way to Uni. I always thought civics were crappy little cars until I got to drive around the sport hatch (no sun roof). My local dealer is really relaxed and lets people test drive for 40 minutes without a sales person, no arguing about an extended test drive either. I found that the base sport hatchback has good headroom and I really like to pep of this motor. You could argue that the thing is a little slow but if that means more time to hear the engine rev then I'm happy. Too bad I cant slap a Vtec kicked in yo sticker on it though, haha. Also what is important is the manual in this car. I work at Hyundai and driving around the Veloster stick shift feels really like a chore while I actually enjoy the civic's stick. Thinking about buying this 2020 year, CVT variant though of sport hatch (no sunroof), since my university is 30 miles daily driving into Chicago with inching/frequently stopping traffic and I don't want to clutch in and out all the time.

Lane watch camera is not just aged ... it was a bad design from beginning. It adds so much of extra processing for drivers brain. A simple blind spot indicator is much better design.

@@f181234 True, but when u have cam, ur brain needs to work on the distance and metrics ... the camera will show a car which is farther in the lane. On the contrary, the indicator is just on or off ... simple binary code for brain to decode!!
