Loyal to what. You're not obligated to only date black men. I didn't have a black man raising me so I wasn't brought up to only date black men. I understand the loyalty for those of you that loved your black fathers and brothers but for the ones that didn't have a black father's love it's a little difficult to understand. Like Loni said it's about who you connect with.

Honestly, it’s not about her not being black enough.. it is about her starting to pander to the black community by dancing to Cardi B and making overtly black references just like Hilary tried. Black folks are tired of the same song and dance. Dancing to Cardi and referencing a Beyoncé song, going to Howard or pledging AKA is not enough. She’s going to have to have some real agendas for the black community. The reason her “blackness” is even coming up is because NOW she is trying to play up blackness as if that is all required for the black community vote. If that’s all you have to offer, no vote.

I don’t care about her being biracial or having a white husband. I’m all for interracial dating. The issue with her is strictly political. Democrats have become lazy as it regards to the black community. They don’t even address our issues. They just invite a few popular artists in stage and make black references and then leave the community. Then you don’t hear from them until it’s time to Vote again. She is starting with that same blueprint. We CAN criticize democratic candidates. They are not entitled to our vote, at least not mine anymore

There's nothing wrong with Interracial relationships, but there's double standards to them most of the time. Most of the time that person is with that person because they're just a difference race. Everyone is entitled to have a preference, but don't put a certain group of people down to uplift your "preference". Sometimes self-hate is involved. (Sigh) Okay.... I am pretty much the same mix as Kamala, but with a European descent mother. As a mixed woman, who has no problem identifying as such, I will never understand other mixed ppl just claiming how they are “black, and will die black”, when there are actual Black women and men who go through things that a light skinned, racially ambiguous looking, MULTIRACIAL person will probably NEVER have to face. I would never take that from any of my Black girlfriends saying that I am what they are, when it’s not true! This is why mixed race ppl are aiding erasing not only the identity of Black women, but also themselves! Why can’t we just say we a both, or multiple???? Why only claim You will die Black when you won’t also claim “I will die Indian”??? Makes no sense to me. Don’t pull the opportunist card Kamala, that’s why we mixed race women have a bad rep 🙄

    • @tkking6481

I think you're being pretty ignorant. Biracial people are black as well. If you have a black parent you can claim it. Obama was half white but look how society saw him. Majority of white people voted against him because he was Kenyan. They made demands he show his birth certificate and called him a Muslim. Mixed people are still black. And let us also not forget you have black people who are also light skinned with both light skinned parents. What do you do with them? They still deal with race issues just like any other black person. But the lighter you are the easier it is. Dark skinned black people get it the worse, but it does not mean my light skinned brothers and sisters are not black. They still black. Race is a social construct and society perceives them as black.

Yes all the time! I was always accused of being "white" because of the lightness of my skin and because of my physical attributes. This came from black, white, and my own Hispanic people. I was accused of being another race and that I was lying because I was too pretty to be "Mexican" or too thick in the right areas to be Mexican. They would ask if I was sure I wasn't "Italian" or "Puerto Rican" because of my looks. I would have to full out say an entire paragraph in Spanish for people to believe me. I am Mexican and proud I wouldn't want to be any other race and I love when ppl doubt my ethnicity because it shows the real ignorance in this world and I get to constantly defend my people and educate folks.

I'm just gonna repost the comment I made when loni questioned 21 savage:
Loni's comment is what really irks me about some black folks logic. If your from the hood and act a certain way you're black. But if you deviate from that in any way you're essentially trying to appropriate to fit into "high class" society and you're "black card" gets revoked. This is similar to how people criticize tam because she married a white man and speaks in a certain demeanor, so they take away her "black card". I myself have a black dad and Hispanic mom and I carry myself in a certain way and I'm in school to get my master's and other blacks around me say I'm trying to "act white". Some people need to stop with this BS.

I was told that once as an African and I was baffled with that. Lauren Cameron Ive an honest question if Kamala was dark skinned woman , who was still mixed would people question her blackness? as an East African (Eritrea ) I was told I can’t be black because my skin is light , European features etc. I was considered not black even though my sister who’s darker was seen as one. I’m not fully sure but I’ve a feeling that this sadly has to do with her skin tone.

And I'm sorry, but no matter what race you are or ethnicity, people vary in a multitude of shades. Just because someone doesn't look like your stereotypical belief, doesn't mean they don't exist. It's still strange to me to see people up in arms over a prosecutor's record in locking up criminals, but not address the criminal's behavior. We wouldn't even need to discuss anybody's record if people just followed the law, stayed in school, or learned a legal trade, let go of hatred, and keep working until you find where you want to be. Is it really that hard to stay out of a courtroom? Get your life together! I'm more concerned with her relationship with her former boss. As it stands, we have stepped in the right direction with the help of her friends and allies (like Vann Jones) to criminal justice reform. I want to know if she will further that. @Anne Day First, how much of Senator Harris did you know before she decided to run? To assess her character after having never seen her outside the Senate doors is awfully premature. Opposition research happens to all who enter politics. Secondly, as for the black vote, it has not been and currently isn't strong enough to sway a presidential election. We don't have the electoral college numbers. Our focus should be statewide. And lastly, you did exactly what I hear others do. You go straight to how unfair prison is, but have zero recommendations for never going in the first place. Where are we as a community when our focus is changing sentencing and not education, or challenging the "prison industrial complex", but not young black men terrorizing a community of their own people. It may ring hollow for you, but having a gun pointed to your head in a convenience store line because a young black boy would rather steal and potentially murder, than get a job....something more than prison reform needs to happen. Yes, I agree though...my head would have "rang hollow" if that young black man found my life worthless because of his anger.

Shan W my purpose for posting initially was for anyone who didn’t feel like checking for themselves. Mrs Harris may identify herself as European, African, or Indian it doesn’t matter to me. But myself and many other black Americans remember Obama being so proud of his blackness. We gave him our donations and our vote and in return he gave us nothing. He felt no obligation to black Americans, because his dad was African and he was raised in a white household. Now Kamala comes along with no black exes, (other than the married Mayor who gave her a 6 figure job) no black children, and basically no ties to the black community outside of the political arena. She wants black voters to believe that she’s smoking blunts listening Pac and Snoop. Here’s a direct quote from her father “My dear departed grandmothers (whose extraordinary legacy I described in a recent essay on this website), as well as my deceased parents, must be turning in their grave right now to see their family’s name, reputation and proud Jamaican identity being connected, in any way, jokingly or not with the fraudulent stereotype of a pot-smoking joy seeker and in the pursuit of identity politics. Speaking for myself and my immediate Jamaican family, we wish to categorically dissociate ourselves from this travesty.”

But we digressed, again my question was what does her race have to do with her being a candidate for presidency? Btw wouldn't anybody besides Trump be an upgrade 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ IJS tho

This is coming from someone who grew up in sf, the area in which she was a prosecutor. I just wish more people had there own mind and didn’t just hop on hate trains because its trendy or fun

This is so weird to me...
I'm Brazilian, and I only came to realize I was "biracial" at 19 when I started to watch american videos to improve in the language...
And it was beacuse everything was about race, even in the beauty channels... It was the first time in my whole life that I heard things like: "This is so white", or "black people do this" and "white people do that", and this is so strange to me...
Everytime I come across this topic on american videos, I have so many questions... I just wish someone would explain to me a little about american culture and why is so divided...

I am from Croatia , Europe and believe me it is weird to me too....because we don't use terms like those you mentioned and we have some multicultural countries on this beautiful continent.
This is a issue that really only the US has. ( although racism exists everywhere, but there is no nation on this planet that is sooooo focused on race like them)

exactly it's very sad, but you can look at our country's melting pot/history/slave trade in America/Ellis Island immigrants/etc and no other country has diversity like this, so clearly that is why but I really appreciate your question and I liked that you were wondering about this, you asked a very intelligent question but I think it traces back to America's history and the fact that no other country has this immense diversity in one condensed area, so imagine if you woke up in Brazil and most neighborhoods were filled with Italian Americans, Black Americans, Africans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Indian Americans etc then you would be waking up in America a literal melting pot of every single ethnicity that is too many to name. I also think social media has a huge influence of the whole "this is so white" "this is so black", because that is comprised of false standards of beauty and stereotypes that we get from our parents/communities that are passed down to generation to generation. That's why people always talk about kids being innocent and not "seeing race" because they have not been fully brainwashed by their parents or community about the false standards of beauty. Im sure someone may have a better answer because this is a hard question that people can write papers about

Interesting that, when a black woman or man chooses different politics than the norm, people question that person's blackness... She should be able to claim blackness and not be questioned because she chose to exercise her right as an American to chose what political values she stands behind. Last time I checked, black leaders marched for black people to support whatever politics and opinions they believe in (no matter how right or wrong they believed such opinions to be).
