I’m fresh out of the academy, and the academy covers the very basic stuff. You will learn more once you start working on your own for sure. My best advise is take advantage of your FTO. I should’ve get into more stuff during my fto training but that did not happen. Let the “sr ma’am”out. Create your own lenguaje and way of talking, talk in a way that you feel confortable with. I’m a very talkative person is very easy for me to create rapport but is that is the way I am. If you are shy or a quiet person is fine, just try to find your own style!

March 4th is the next academy for Georgia(Fulton county) but I have to pass the pre fitness agility test but I’m not worried about it. I’m more so nervous and excited for the academy. Any tips on making through it without failing anything?
Start the academy Monday. More rural area, so I’m currently self-sponsored, but already have an agency I’m in the top 2 for.
The biggest thing I’ve learned with being rural, everything seems to be much more fluid than a well organized and established city agency, but that doesn’t bother me.

How is it going?
I was hired for a department and was never told during the year long hiring process that the academy was 5 hours away and you won’t be home for 3 months. Should be something said up front
I work for a small town I was hired in February and then started academy in August. 11 months later I am almost graduated. and for a small department we do not really have an FTO program. I learned that academy can only teach you so much until you get to experience it firsthand then things are a little different.
I got a quick question. Can you go through police academy without getting hired on by a department? I got a few security companies I'm wanting to apply for but they have a hard requirement that you either have to have graduated police academy or have 5 years of armed security experience no exceptions. I'm thinking of becoming police but not in this state I honestly want to wait to become police til after me and my wife move out to somewhere that isn't assbackwards which will take a few years of saving and this security job could greatly expedite that happening.

Hey tommy, I have a question about unmarked cars. Why are unmarks always so clean? Wouldn’t it be smarter to leave the cars a little dirty so they blend in a little better?
Idk man, the ones assigned to detectives are usually pretty clean. The ones assigned to patrol or tac here though? Those are generally a disaster inside and out.
@@freefieldtraining I guess I just haven’t seen many. My town has about 5,000 people and one unmarked Tahoe as far as I can tell, which patrols around and is extremely clean. All the ones I’ve ever seen on TV or online have been extremely clean. I guess I just haven’t seen many. Thx
It would be nice if any of the cops actually know the law and I wouldn't have to keep auditing them.
