I like my AUG A3, but it’s a very outdated design that struggles to keep up with modern rifles. Originally I was going to buy the Lithgow EF88/F90 since it is a more modern version of the AUG. But since Thales pulled the plug on US sales at the last second, I conceded and bought the AUG.
I’m really hoping Steyr updates the design, either by adopting the EF88 design, or come up with something new altogether that doesn’t rely on proprietary magazines (I intentionally did not buy the NATO AUG since the trigger is worse and loses certain features) and offers more modularity, like how the X95 and VHS-2 do.

god I wish the brought the f90. Would have been absolutely amazing. Instant buy.

@@dawizze1 Same here. I think Thales just didn’t want to deal with the 922r compliance stuff and cited ‘ethical’ reasons for canceling selling it in the U.S.

They are interesting and aesthetically great looking! Home run on those points...BUT!, they kinda suck. They eat the feed lips up on their mags, the green semi auto AUG's have light primer strike problems and most of them only have one optic option (the one that's permanently mounted). These are problems I have come across. PS: I have a black, real pre-ban almost never fired 16 inch barreled one. I like mine, not selling it ever that I know of but it's not the best in my collection.

I rate your objectiveity at 4 out of 10. I think you're evaluating this rifle and scoring it based mostly on your personal preferences. For instance, one of your main complaints is the gas plug not being supressor ready, I've had my AUG for a few years and don't own a supressor for it (probably never will). And I'd argue most people won't. Additionally, most people would train to avoid grabbing the hot parts before they drop $400+ for a rail (on top of the $150-$200 for the gas plug).
You mention, "it's weird", well yeah. People don't buy AUGs because they want a Mil-spec AR to cosplay scenes from Amreican Sniper. They spend a lot more money on an obscure rifle because they want *that* rifle.

I am 100% basing this off of my personal preference and experience. The AUG is cool, I own one. I stand by what I said. There is no reason in this market to release a gun that is not capable of running with a silencer from the factory.
I think the purpose of this video series has been lost on you. The idea was to bring multiple 5.56 rifles together in one series of videos to get one man's opinion on them and rank them all on the same scale. The plan is to show rifles that not everyone has access to or has seen up close. I have no personal issue with Steyr or the AUG specifically.
For what it's worth, the AUG is far and away the best bullpup I've owned and my personal favorite that I have had a chance to run for a while.
      Thanks for watching.

@Trigon Armamment Inc. You're right. I misunderstood the purpose of the video.
In any case I enjoyed it.

You title this "King of the 5.56 rifles" and then open with a 5/10 for accuracy. Definitely a channel that should be ignored.
