You are correct about Una O’Conner. Funny thing is I love most movies I’ve seen her in but I have to constantly wall her out of my mind during her scenes. Great cameo from Dwight Frye as a news reporter.
The Invisible Man is a classic!

Claude Rains. Such a fine actor, and what a voice.
I’ve always loved him as poor Larry Talbot’s father in The Wolf Man. He was also great in Phantom of the Opera, Casablanca and so many others. One of the all time greats, no doubt about it. He was outstanding in everything he was ever in.

@scottmoore1614 - He gave so many great performances but one Off the radar Sci-fi film he did in the early 60s deserves more attention: Battle of the Worlds. It's an Italian partially dubbed production directed by the prolific Antonio Margeritti. The longer version is better and makes more sense of some of the characters. The music and SFX are excellent for the time and fun. And Claude Raines is his as always, brilliant self.

ALL RIGHT!!! Bestoink Dooley!! I remember hearing about him. Never got to see his show because he went off the air in '64 or '65....I think. I have a favourite line from The Invisible Man, but I'd better not post it because it could be misconstrued.

This is absolutely one of my top favorite Universal horror films, a movie I see as often as possible. Virtually every detail and line of dialogue is forever etched in my brain. I love Una O’Conner, here and in every movie I’ve seen of hers; Bride of Frankenstein, This Land is Mine, Witness for the Prosecution, Murder!, David Copperfield, The Sea Hawk, The Informer, The Corpse Came C.O.D., The Adventurous of Robin Hood and The Canterville Ghost. Janes Whale laughed at her so hard while filming either Bride of Frankenstein or The Invisible Man that he ruined a take. This project was a good idea; I wish I’d seen it sooner. You may have already talked about this in an earlier entry: Shock! and Son of Shock! are covered in Shock Theater: An Illustrated History by Michael Kronenberg / Monsters from the Vault, published in 2001 by Monsters from the Vault. Stay scared!

This is an excellent movie. Personally, I got some good laughs from Una O'Connor but based on the comments I am clearly in the minority. I will admit, a little Una goes a long way. Claude Rains was excellent as The Invisible Man.

I just finished the novel (while vacationing in the U.K. no less) and the changes they made for the film were for the better except for that landlady character - she was better in the book!

I just watched this film and loved it. I was surprised that it was so comical! And you are right! That actress was irritating. I kept hoping he'd kill her! 😅

I'm kind of indifferent to O'Connor: she's not my cup of tea, but she's easy enough to ignore in the minor role she plays. This was the first universal monster movie I ever saw, and I've been a monster kid ever since 🎃🎃

Wow!!! I just re-watched Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein back to back and I thought I was the only one who thought Una O'Connor ruined that film. The Studio heads must have reasoned that the tone of the first film was too dark for the 'Mass' audiences and pushed comedic elements into the second movie. Doesn't work for me. The first film and Karloff are Brilliant. Claude Raines was cast in part for his incredible voice, but his FINE acting skills made that film. I would listen to him read the phonebook. If those still existed.
