That's the exact strut I'm currently looking for. The location and position of the sway bar mount is correct for my car. Any chance you know the part number of that exact strut? I've had to return 2 different struts that stated would fit my car just because of the position of the sway bar mount. Apparently the build date and weather it's sport suspension is the problem but I can't find a strut anywhere for my build date of 8/2010

You say the torque spec for the knuckle bolts is 58 foot pounds, but Hyundai calls for 101 to 115. This should be edited

One thing you have to remember as well, that removing those bottom bolts will immediately put your alignment off, so you'll have to get one maybe. This video helped me out a lot, really well done and concise in what I needed to do.

Thank you for this great video! It's really well done, from the clear video shots, to the equally clear instructions, to the perfect pace to absorb the details.
I used this to guide me through the process on a 2012 Sonata GLS, and it was very similar. There were a few different sizes of bolt heads and nuts, and different bracket locations for the brake and ABS sensor lines, but those differences were obvious and easy to account for.
A couple of things I would suggest viewers know: first, be sure to jack up the entire front end, not just the side you're working on, or there will be too much pressure on the sway bar to allow the removal of the bolt. Secondly, rather than tying the knuckle with a strap to support it after the two main bolts were removed, I just slid the tire/wheel assembly under the rotor and let it rest on that - much easier than trying to figure out how to strap it all together, especially if working on this solo and finding you don't have enough arms and hands to do it all!

Great video! I love the quality and knowledge that you have. Two suggestions, tho. When you strike the strut bolts with a hammer, also mention to add the nut before striking. That will help someone with poor aim to not damage the bolt. Also you should show the jack points because many do not own a lift

    Tried to do this today.
I have a 2011, but one of the later builds dates that has the sport suspension. These use a different (harder to find) strut assembly, with the sway bar link mounting inboard.
But I also found the bottom, lower strut bolt was 15mm instead of 17. The top was 17mm.
I can't seem to find whether this is supposed to be the measurement, or if someone had previously replaced the bolt.
In any case, I couldn't break loose that bolt and didn't want to risk breaking something.

  • @alwaysboatin659

Good video. Just an FYI. The steering link on my 2011 is attached on the inside of the strut and can only be removed when the strut is compressed. Other than that, great instructions.

  • @denverhare8673
    @denverhare8673 Год назад

19mm wrench instead of locking pliers on the back side of the sway bar link if you have an older model where the mounting hole is in a different location. Some of the Sonatas made in 2010 were branded as 2011. Two totally different struts so make sure you provide your VIN to the retailer.

Well, the answer you provided Scuderia with wasn't the answer to the question that was asked. The question being asked wasn't wanting to know if you have them in stock but rather why they're not available at all.
I have almost the same question because the 2012 Sonata SE has sport suspension which has much more costly components. So Scuderia was asking why (and not asking if they're available) but why 2012 Sonata SE strut components can't be purchased individually & I want to know if the same car's suspension can be "downgraded" to non-sport without modification.
Because you have mechanics doing various work on various vehicles, I want their expertise about whether this change can be made.
So reiterating, don't search your inventory for replacement products... inquire with the folks turning the wrenches about my question.
      Thank you for your reply.

I am still searching and waiting for a correct struts part numbers from KYB which will be a direct fit for my 2012 Sonata GLS, 2.4ltr, Vin "C" w/sport suspension. The struts (2011) as shown from this video seems to be similar for my 2012 with the exception of the mounting hole for the stabilizer link should be pointed inwards towards the engine when the tires are pointed forward. Likewise, the control arms for this car is not a sport type suspension. Dang, that mid-year change for the Sonata assembled that period/year makes life difficult in replacing the front struts. OEM struts from the dealer just cost an "ARM-AND-A-LEG".......
